  1. Gabe Q: The little sensor on top of the nose cone is made by a plastic tube (plastic rod is OK too) with putty and a lot of sanding.

Knight26: Yes, the entire paint scheme and the modifications are based on the magazine. The only difference is that I have made a little changes on the sensor on top of the nose cone and bevel tail section. I have decided to use MiG-29 style, rather than the square-cut as shown on the magazine.

  2. Sorry that I didn't take photo of step-by-step. Basically I have to dismantle the entire 1/48 and sand it with 600 - 800 abreshive paper. I then gave all the parts a coat of grey primary paint. Use masking tape (cut into desired shape to mask away the blue section. Apply 3 coats of Insignia White (Tamiya can spary). After the insignia white paint is thouroughly dried (preferably 1 day), remove the masking tape. Use masking tape to cover the white paint (cut according to the shape). Applied 3 coats of Cobalt Blue (Tamiya can spray). After it has dried, removed the mask and applied the final masking for the Orange (Tamiya can spray) color. There is some paint sipping through the seam of the mask. I use 800 - 1000 abreshive to carefully sand the paint away. Re-assemble everything, and applied the decal. After that I applied 3 coats of clear paint to protect the decal and the paint.

The original decals are mostly white and the backgroud is very light blue. I have a hard time to cut the decals out as I could not see it clearly (except for the head logo). I took a picture before but it really turn out nothing. You could check with Anasazi, he should able to sell you one.

  3. Here is my own custon using VF-1A. It is the 2500th Anniversary version. The decal is from Anasazi37 (If I remember correctly). It has been shelved for long and finally have time to complete it :D The pilot, of course, is the infamous Millia Jenius :D

I have modified the leading edge of the wings, upper air intake (chest area)removed a few antennas (near the main landing gear and air brake) and adding the IR tracker. I also modified the tail section (both vertical tails) and decided to follow the MiG-29 style tail section.

  4. RS-72 Aurora II

Dimension: about the size of B-1

Function: Reconnaissance, Strike and Special Ops Insertion

Modes: MLCC (Multilevel Close Combat – equivalent to Battroid)

    MLCC-S (MLCC – Supersonic)

    Atmospheric and orbital aircraft

Armament: Plasma/SEL (Solar Energized Laser) cannon

Speed: Mach 24 at orbital altitude (fighter mode)

    Mach 2.4 (MLCC-S mode)

    Description:

A highly classified aircraft. Its very existence is openly denied throughout the decade. Unlike its predecessor, it could operate in broad daylight, thanks to its nano-engineered active thermo optic camouflage. The Aurora II could intelligently blend itself into environment, making it hard to be detected by both electronic and optic sensors. The capability of the cannon that could hit any orbital target while on the ground (MLCC mode) makes Aurora II a formidable weapon. Due to prohibitively high manufacturing cost, means that only a handful are produced. Aurora II is mostly associate with STF (Special Task Force) insertion missions, where the STF operatives could reach anywhere around the globe within 60 minutes.

  5. My created facts about VAF-22 and RS-72 Auroa II

    VAF-22 Super Raptor

Dimension: about the size of F-22 Raptor

Function: Stealth air superiority and attack aircraft

Modes: MLCC (Multilevel Close Combat – equivalent to Battroid)

MAEA (Mid-Air Enhanced Agility – equivalent to GERWALK)

    Fighter

    Armament: Plasma/EM (Environmental Munitions) rifle.

Speed: Mach 2.4 at 10000m (fighter mode)

    Description:

Backbone and mass produced aircraft for the country. Reliable and proven workhorse and highly praised by the pilots. Its EM rifle could turn air into ice bullet or sand into silicon ammunition in no time, making unlimited munitions supply.

  6. I also hope to see 1/48 VT-1 or VE-1, but looking at the current 1/48 design, it restrict the possibility of 1/48 VT-1 becoming reality (of, course unless Yamato is willing to make some changes in the design!).

  7. I doubted China would ever wanted attack Japan. If they want they could do so during their dynasties era and there would be no Japan in World War II. China beef up their military might in fear of the raise of Japan military conservatism. Once bitten twice shy, if you were attacked and have your 30,000 citizens massacred in one day, you'll always want to beef yourself up. Besides, many Chinese are getting richer. Rich men won't want war, they want money. No one wants their Ferrari get blown into pieces by bombs and bullets.

The only thing Japan should fear is N.Korea. Poverty leads to instability and volatility. They might do whatever to get the money they want.

I don't know about India and American relationship. I only know many jobs are moving to India.

  8. That's what I meant. I'm not saying IP law is not good. All laws begin with good intention, but the rich (the big corporation) have the resources to emploit them and make them for their own use (sometimes to against public interest). Remember individual income tax? It was originally meant for the rcih only, but now, who pay the most individual taxes? I don't want to drift this off topic. But additional $40 per model kit is really too much...

  9. In short, rich always find ways to extort poor. They have the money, we don't. They could hire the best legal consultants and lawyers, we don't. Don't be too suprise that one day the license fee is as much as 50% (or more) of the cost of a model kit. In the country I'm staying, the rent of a stall could reach 50% of your business expenditure!

IP law? It meant to portect the rich. The rich will always say that if there is no IP protection, the companies will lose money and we have to lay off workers. But in real life, they lay you off anyway, because of cheaper labour in China, India and perhaps Africa next.

  10. Looks like we are loosing something important here… as we are loosing the old members.

Yup! We are, I missed a few old members like TSKOH. Some active old members had become less and less active.

First the post of the toys section outnumbered the Model section, and then I can see lots of new threads in the Other Anime and Sci-Fi forum, but only there.

Yup! It is. Mainly because there are more and more new anime and they come out fast to keep the heat on. Macross just come to slow, be it anime or toys; luckily we have the models to at least holding on. Sorry guys/gals, I know quality is important, but as well as timing...

In view of the slowing down, could I proposed that we have dedicated sections for scratch built/kit bash and/or VF designs by fans? The aims are to encourage people to show off their imagination and ignite new enthuasism. Currently, the Fan Works section is too broadly defined and models and toys section has been restricted by the variety and availability of the models/toys. If there is less models and toys coming out, the sections will become stagnant.

All in all MacrossWorld is a great place.
