This is cool @takatoys. Easy custom instead of painting route if it's just for striping.
Care to share how thick these vinyls are and links where to purchase it? Thanks in advance.
The vinyl wrap film is very very thin and flexible. For the heatshield, which is curved, you can apply heat with a hairdryer and and it will mold to the surface without leaving any bubbles. I got the vinyl at a local graphic shop. Some auto boutiques may sell it.

Vinyl? Ok, that is totally dope. What is the lighting effect in the barrels of the strike cannon?
It is a reflective glass pebble 🙂

Since I got the Hikaru ME DX, I no longer needed the first edition. Well, instead of waiting for Bandai to release a VF-1S Max, which I think it won’t happen, why not making one with adhesive vinyl. So, I made one using blue and black vinyl to wrap the heatshield, a couple of skull stickers emblems and put panel lines on the valk. Then I added the mechanical strike parts with some more touches to it. This is the result.

There are 5 variants. Don’t forget that there is a Takatoku box that says Made in Taiwan instead of Made in Japan.
The thing is…Is it an official Takatoku product? Are there more Takatoku toys besides Macross that have the Takatoku logo and were made in Taiwan? We all know there are lots of taiwanese toys made from the Takatoku molds, but those have the logo removed and do not have japanese writing. That Takatoku made in Taiwan box is the missing link.

Nice box variant collection!!
Your patience led to some great quality examples. For the casual toy surfers, its all about the box's head laser cutouts and the feet. There are 4 'variants' throughout the VF-1J production.
Yes, I was very patient to find good condition boxes. Took me a year to complete the set. The hardest to find was the second version.

ayyy, good job man. those boxes are in pretty good condition too, for all 4. what's next on your list now?
I replaced the plastic window on two and put some paint on corners and edges. That helps the good condition appearance.
Next on my list, trying to get the Takatoku Max and Miria, but still too expensive.

I feel like this is one of those puzzles where you're told there are X differences between pictures that look identical and you have to find them all.
I see someone must have complained that the toy wasn't made 100% of die cast so they had to add "Die cast / Plastic" at some point.
I did not notice that until now! 😦

Looks great! Sadly, those 1/55 reissues tend to yellow so quick. I heard that it is the because of a flame retardant additive they put on plastic nowadays😕.

That is an amazing piece! I've never found one low enough in price yet(crossing fingers). did you buy the kits and put together or a finished one?
I bought all the volumes and put them together adding paint on the strike parts and some extra details. Was a real fun project.

Nice acquisition....this one gets ignored because of the 1/3000 "Big Macross"....
The 1/6300 SDF-1 was my first official collectible Takatoku Toys' Macross Collection....have about 4 now....
There are two variants of this toy...a grey and a white "foot" version....not sure which one is rarer or came first...which variant was this one?

- Wait, if you have an incomplete Elintseeker in box, but put it a Jetfire armor, the value increases exponentially?

By seeing the order of the releases in the book, your picture goes like this, am I right?
3 4
2 1

For panel lines, I used Vallejo Acrylic medium grey paint mixed with its proper thinner diluent. So easy to remove the excess paint on the toy with the diluent. It does not damage the plastic nor the tampo markings or paint of the toy.
