hmm i guess theres a few who remembers me... im the one who did the fanmodel of SDF-1 from memory (poor painted) lol well on my workbench atm is a emty space... u ask why? i will tell you! im waiting for my very first, my very own...... Variable Fighter YAY!!!! i have never owned or held/been close to a Macross "toy" lol (too expensive to play with xD) well HLJ just shipped it 5 days ago so im expectin it on my doorstep very soon Yamato VF-1J my very favorite of all Macross mecha.... i have been taking "painting lessons" from one of my old pals hes one heck of a model painter especially on Warhammer 40K well and i have also made plans to redo the paint or mayb even make a new SDF-1 model!! (a well thought through model this time xD) with pro materials and such... i have faith in my ability lol... well thats my very near future plans in model building/painting..... Happy Macross to you all!! oh and what u see on the pictures are still a work in progress!!

ok i cant keep silent about this no more... as i have seen written alot of times throughout the WWW... erhmm in space shape and size doesnt matter, in terms of speed.. only things that can be improved is agility. looking at the SDF-M anime where u actually see SDF-1 from behind u notice that when in flight the engine keeps thrusting.. wich isnt neccesary lol u only need to keep thrusting untill u have reached max speed... then u can turn off engine.. and ull keep moving the same speed untill u brake... (space dust and solar winds arent enough to brake a ship.. well only if the plan to fly without stopping for 1million years.. so the only thing to give a VF is enough vernier thrusters.(for quick turns, brake and altering direction . then size and shape doesnt matter..

my point exactly its more unique with the 1J when mechanical heads of VF's become too human looking it kinda gives too much "gundam look" thats why the 1S is my least favorable head! same goes for heads of most the succesors of VF-1

To me there is only one VF that is true to the my image of macross.. and that is the VF-1 series especially the 1J cause of the Head appearance.. the VF-1 is the only VF mecha i can believe in when it is in Battloid mode the rest of the VF series looks like pure Sci-fi in comparence.. still it is all fun to watch.. and that i believe is the essence of watching anime...

yeah i probably got carried away with alternatives lol but still wouldnt it be interessting to see Macross fleet starting a confontation/war against a alien race rather than the other way around as usual? still maybe the alien was only there as recon and desided that the ghost just came too close, thus deciding to take action? "we cant assume that the entire universe reacts to situations the same way as humans, Zentraedi ect. ect." unless the alien is a advanced faction of an already know enemy!?!

My point exactly:) well to me it was the asteroids that gave it away.. the Fleet was not traveling through convieniently placed asteroids^^ but the unknown enemy carrier was hiding among such.... and now that u say it... was the attack provoked by the ghosts?? if so i think the situation is abit different!?!

if i remember correctly, considering the order in wich it takes place... that pyramid shape is indeed a placeholder for an unknown entity! and notice also that the small purple fighters approacing the shape is probably the ghost fighters!/? notice also the rocks floting around the "unknown" i didnt see those around the fleet! or am i totally offtarget???

but imo i still think the old VF-1A and VF-1J are the coolest maybe im just being nostalgic:P

Well said Duke!! like i always say to my little sister, when she ask my about something that happens in a movie and its a little far fetched lol hun its a movie anything can happen!!! still its interesting to see them.. and at the same time have a debate/discussion about it.. but dont get at each other throat! still a very interesting subject.. what can be done, and what can not?

(as i read on another thread flashlight obscores detail) hmm id better get me some of those materials and put a little efford into the detailing of my new project... (a very big ARMD SDF-M style) havent decided on which scale yet... anyway thx for the great replyes

hehe yeah thx xD well it wasnt supposed to be a model of SDF-1 at first. i was just bored and i was aimlessly glueing cardbord together... and this is wat eventually popped up xD *EDIT* oh can anyone tell me what materials would be good for building models as i might take up this aspect of my boring life:O *EDIT*

ok i have no idea if im writing in the correct forum thread! but here goes..... im kinda new to this forum business so plz bear with me! ok anyway... well i have made a custom version of the SDF Macross which is a cross breed between DYRL, PLUS and the initial SDF-2 (post Megaroad/Megalord) well and i really really want a comment or something on it... so... oh uh hmmm wait.. u cant comment on something u cant see lol so a couple of pictures are also here to sprinkle this dull post with some life oh and btw the model/figure was made from memory... materials: cardboard and melting glue. oh and no comment on the painting of it.. lol im a terrible painter though i looks kinda animish^^ *EDIT*oh lol i took a look around on the other from scratch builders, and i can only assume that i realy lack skills :S so i will just make a quick statement: the building and painting of my model only took 3 days.. so bear with me :/ !!!*EDIT*
