  1. What if the creators of Macross are secretly behind this show, using their existing computer animation technology to do the space scenes and vehicles... they hired some Chinese high school kids with no consistent style and some DeviantArt pages to do the most amateurish job of character design and motion animation possible... made sure that the mouth movements and dialog don't even sync up in the original Chinese... then plan to export it to the USA and other Harmony Gold controlled territories on the cheap, so that Harmony Gold can't stop it, and then finally allows Macross Frontier and the new movie to come to those territories, for a small cut, in order to compete with Astro Plan? Yeah, I know, there's no way... but it's the only thing that makes sense for me for the existence of this show...
  2. I don't want to waste space quoting your entire assessment of MOSPEADA. For what it's worth, I LOVE MOSPEADA, both for what it was, and for what it could have been. To clarify, I think the show was good, with some great ideas, but suffered from some poor budgeting and rushing of episodes, as well as too many changes from the toy company that was originally funding it and deviation from what it was intended to be. What is was originally meant to be was a retelling of the European theater of WWII, starting with the 3rd reclamation force being like the D-Day Normandy invasion, and then following Stick and a resistance group he put together as they traveled through the Americas, mimicking certain historical campaigns. The Legioss and TLEAD were meant to be minimally present, just occassionally found, repaired, used until fuel ran out or they were destroyed, but really be about a group of fighters traveling on bikes. Characters like the blond biker were meant to appear and die for greater poignancy and to show how easily people can die in war. Unfortunately, very little of this came through in the end. As for Macross, I agree Macross had some great ideas and had the funding to execute them well, but that in no way detracts from MOSPEADA being a good show in and of itself. If it matters, I liked the original Macross, like Macross Zero more, and absolutely loved Macross Frontier, but have no patience whatsoever for any of the other Macross sequels.
  3. In my avatar? New Garland and MOSPEADA from the cover of Nandy's "Animation Bikes" book that came out about a year or two ago, drawn by Shinji Aramaki.
  4. I actually disagree. I thought the beginning was barely watchable, but the last story arc was excellent. Wish there'd been more of that.
  5. I think everything CMs makes it technically a "limited edition," though sometimes those quantities are in the low hundreds, and sometimes in the low thousands.
  6. Nice. Thanks. I'm always on the lookout for MOSPEADA (and Shinji Aramaki in general) bikes designs that I haven't seen before.
  7. Prequels can be a lot of fun. The comics of Robotech (which had some good MOSPEADA and Before the Invid moments) also touched on concurrent stories, which would be fun if applied here, in my opinion. Show other groups of people on Earth fighting against the Inbit. Show forces on Mars preparing and training to send troops to Earth, including testing new weapons and mecha that were never seen in the original MOSPEADA. It could be handled similarly to how Exo Squad handled multiple fronts in their stories. OR Do like, I assume, those pieces of new artwork from a few years back suggested. Retell the story completely, but make it a more realistic and darker, series, as the creators originally intended (and keep the WWII European theater parallels, as was also intended).
  8. Where is that pic from? I don't remember seeing it in the new batch of stuff, or previously.
  9. No idea. You'd think the other metallics would be cheap to make, since they have the molds, but they haven't come out yet, so it seems unlikely we'd see anything involving new molds either. I don't recall the 2040 versions being all that different, except for some accessories and stuff.
  10. I have the same problem with Ray. With Stick... well, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Usually I get tired of trying.
  11. I was collecting the CMs to be in scale with my 1/18th Bubblegum Crisis and Megazone 23 toys and figures, but even at that was only collecting the "dark" versions of the figures (same with Megahouse). The Beagle line was where I intended to get the anime accurate toys (and yes, I preordered both Stick and Ray, so I'm not one of the people who was waiting for them to go on sale or clearance later). I wonder if CMs will do a "dark" version of Yellow? Megahouse did, and CMs seems to do as many variants and as much getting multiple toys out of a single mold as possible, so I'm surprised they haven't yet.
  12. Shinji Aramaki (best known for designs for MOSPEADA and Bubblegum Crisis and Megazone 23, so it has transforming motorcycles, as well as the recent Appleseed movies) produced anime about a private police force in the not-too-distant future. Fell far short of what it should have been, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly.
  13. It seems like they have just lost all ability to avoid robot kibble underneat the larger jets from the movie-verse.
  14. While at first I was annoyed that now RT is going to sell the Dark Mospeada, I've kind of come around. I have all three Dark bikes from CMs, and only the dark ones. I have the completely dark (no white at all) Yellow from Megahouse, and nothing else from Megahouse. I have both Beagles. I guess I might as well get the dark Stick from Megahouse, kind of fill in the collection, since nothing else is coming out now anyway, and hope that maybe this will at least spur on some more products from SOMEONE.
  15. For the most part I agree with you. Was my most looked-forward-to show last year. Disappointed me right away, though I still enjoyed it, just wasn't up to my expectations. Too formulaic, with character designs that felt like they were from the 90s, and storylines that were probably really solid in plot form, but just not executed very well. On the other hand, I've found that since that series ended, I've actually wanted to see it again a few times, and have watched it 2 more times since, enjoying it a little more each time. I'm hoping for a sequel, with better overall storyline and less episodic feel. I can't think of Viper's Creed without thinking of Rideback. Came out same time, same number of episodes. I wasn't really looking forward to it anywhere near as much, as it was fantastic right from the first episode, and just got better as it went, less episodic and more for the overall story. Only disappointment there was the final episode.
  16. Seriously looking forward to this one. Havent picked up any Devastators because this is the only one I think will be worthwhile. Love the Legends class.
  17. Spedfish, no advice for you, but I am VERY impressed by what you've done so far. Nice work. Helmet looks especially cool. I'm in the same boat, by the way, in that MOSPEADA-related stuff is the main reason I come here.
  18. That is something that I would LOVE to see. Really love those new designs.
  19. Just started watching season 1. Very different from it, but still slightly reminds me of Witch Hunter Robin (which is a good thing).
  20. That's exactly what I meant. Thank you.
  21. Would be interesting to see an updated telling of MOSPEADA, with the current animations styles and technology (sort of like Bubblegum Crisis 2040). Please, nobody mention Shadow Chronicles here... EDIT: Then again, since that new version of Megazone 23, which already had mecha designs ready, got canned, guess we can't expect much for MOSPEADA. Still, Aramaki's new artwork in the new MOSPEADA Complete Works book really is gorgeous.
  22. The two half-way decent writers left? I didn't realize that. Well, for what it's worth, I actually like the movie designs, I think they make more sense, and are a nice contrast to animated designs.
  23. Just bought Legends class Sideways. In general, I really enjoy the fun factor of the legends figures, but was not expecting much from this one, as I did not like the deluxe of Sideways at all. I have to say, I was really surprised by this one. The figure is very cool, with more going on in the transformation than one would expect from a legends class figure. I like it a lot more than deluxe Sideways, and more than a good few other legends figures.
  24. I can appreciate that. I just am glad to see as much Megazone (and MOSPEADA, and other Aramaki works) material out there as possible.
  25. Why would you possibly be glad that a line got terminated before all the figures came out? You're not required to buy it if you don't like it.
