  1. is it me or does the re-ish feel a little more fragile than the Jetfire? i used to have one back in the day and it seemed more solid, but maybe it was just loosened up from so many transformations.

Actually the reissues are slightly lighter than the older Bandai/Takatoku's. I took a reissue apart and compared it to one of my Jetfire's about 2 years ago. I discovered that Bandai's new molding techniques allow each piece to be casted with less plastic than the originals. However, this doesn't make them more fragile, just more economical to produce as well as easier on their fuel/power supply. :D

  2. my god guys!!!

they are just so freakin ugly...spend you money on a quality valk like a yamato ...1/60 0r 1/48 :p

    Quality?!

Bandai wrote the book on quality. Just imagine if Bandai decided to buy out Yamato and make the 1/48's themselves? No more cheap plastic, fragile parts and sub par paint jobs. :p

  3. The only Rob parts I have are his Ostrich recast set, Elint recast set, and a nice pile of clear canopies from the one time vf1x.com had them for sale.

    Oh, how I miss vf1x.com. :(

  4. That is the one. Wasn't that person's ebay user id Loshu?

Loshu93 if my memory serves me correctly. Come to think of it, I still have his phone number. Maybe I'll give him a call and see if he still has some of that inventory. Actually, I'm looking for a few pieces of vintage armor that he probably has. :D

  5. I remember a while back, someone put a picture up of a guy who had a wall of boxed original Bandai and Takatoku valks on shelves. If my memory serves me correctly, it was about a few boxes high, a few boxes deep, and all the way across the image. It must have been about 80 valks. I think he was slowly auctioning his collection before the rereleases hit.

Does anyone know the link to the picture?

Or if you have an equally impressive image of your own wall of boxed valks, I'd be interested in seeing some pics.

Hey Max, I think you are referring to a guy on eBay named Loshu93. I've also heard a few people refer to his collection as "Valkyrie Heaven." I also live in the Bay Area and have spoken to him a few times. Actually, I have a picture of his collection but the error message keeps telling me that I can't upload this particular file. I'll get it sorted out to post for ya. :D

  6. was there a previous bid by joehonda for this? it doesn't show any cancellations or bid retractions.

I am almost positive that this bidder was the same one who won the auction. Still, it can't be too legit to change the item entirely. Let's see, eBay auction #5925236319 was originally for a custom 1/55 Max and then it morphs into a Green Goblin auction before it ends? That's strange enough as it is. However, I do remember checking this custom Max auction after it ended and there WAS a winning bidder. Unfortunately, I have no idea how the dates reflect the change prior to the auctions end. Maybe this requires Majestic security clearance. :D

  7. His heatshield and head sculpts are superb and my 1/55 customs are much better looking as a result. I jealously guard my Barretta resin part stockpile....

I agree. Chris Baretta made great 1/55 parts. I too have a 1/55 parts stockpile of his parts. Unfortunately over time, my stockpile has started to dwindle somewhat. :(

Hey Anasazi, do you have a stockpile of Rob's parts as well? If so, I really need a few of his 1/55 DYRL VF-1A heads. I emailed him a while ago but he only had 1 left. He never mentioned whether or not he would be recasting more, so I assumed that he had just moved on to 1/48 parts. However, I could be wrong. How about it Rob? :D

  8. Anyway, after seeing this I'm VERY tempted to make a Yamato version of this.

I'm honored to know that you appreciate my custom that much. :D When I made this one, I was looking to make an original custom without creating an unofficial Macross color scheme.

  9. I am confused as to how this seller changed the title and description to their auction when it had already ended. Does anyone know how this is possible? I clearly remember checking my watch list after the auction ended. There was only 1 bid for $199.99 by the same person that placed 1 bid on the Green Goblin mask. This is really scary. Can anyone put a Mercedes Benz up for bids and then after someone has won, they change the title and description of the auction so that the final bidder has actually won a Neon?

  10. Thanks again for the apology. I feel obligated to explain the reason why I became so outraged at Vermillion One's post. A little over 2 years ago I placed this same VF-1B(minus the super armor) on eBay to make room on my shelfs for all the new customs I had made. There were about 5 bids on my auction and the highest bidder was Vermillion One himself. He didn't win however due to the reserve I had placed on the item. We actually had our first dialogue on MW and through eBay about this custom.

Now that we've cleared this up, would you be willing to sell me one of these Strike cannons and heatshield? :D

  11. ********CAUTION*************

Hello fellow MW members. Just out of curiosity I placed this item on my watch list a while ago to see how much it might sell for. A few minutes ago I checked my eBay watch list to find that I had no longer watched the auction for a custom VF-1A Max, I had watched the end of an auction for a Green Goblin mask?!

Then I recheck the link in this thread and find out that it too is no a link to the

    Green Goblin mask!

After the auction had originally ended, I remember that there was only 1 bid placed on this item for $200! Now I find it relisted by the same seller here.

    This just doesn't seem right!

  12. Yeah hopefully some of the KO parts don't make the figure too fragile. It is a very clean custom.

Actually, the KO parts are extremely firm. If they were otherwise, I wouldn't have used them. I originally made this custom for myself and was short on Jetfire parts. Believe it or not, the boosters and connector piece are from those old $5 bootlegs. I just gave them a little love. :D

  13. I am pretty sure that the ebay user ravishing rick is rick the hunter from these boards. He does nice work, but he still owes me $500 or a Max 1A custom. Bid at your own risk.

I AM NOT RICK THE HUNTER!!!

Surprisingly enough, there are others that like Macross that happen to be named Rick. I have tried my best for over 3 years to be a good upstanding member of these boards to have someone like you jump the gun and try to connect the dots between myself and RTH. If you have done transactions with him and know his full name, you can ask the members of the PARTIAL list below to try and verify if my name is the same as RTH. These names start with the most recent transactions to some of the earliest. Bottom line, at one time or another I have provided my information to these members. If I am Rick the Hunter they will know. I'm sure one of these members know Rick the Hunters full name because I don't.

  14. Diecast doesn't make the toys better. Your preference for diecast makes them better.  B))

Remember.. not all of today's plastic toys are crap. Some of them are every bit as well-made and boast some pretty slick engineering, the likes of which we'd never have seen back in the day. Are they as durable as diecast toys? Probably not. But that still doesn't make a plastic toy inferior to a diecast one. Quality isn't determined by materials alone.  :)

I agree with you. In regards to Macross, I'll stay with the Bandai 1/55. As for Transformers, I have chosen the Alternators because they are guaranteed to have zero paint chipping. Also, wear and tear on the joints is lessened without the extra weight. I think Toonz has the right idea. Buy the Binaltechs for display and the Alternators to transform when you get The Urge. :D

  15. man that's a nice custom. I'd buy it if I had the money. :(

I'd have to agree, it's a real nice paint job based on these pictures. Unfortunately, this is one of the easiest customs to make and therefore makes his price a little too steep for most. I think that adding some stickers or decals could've helped the cause. The only thing that I'd really want from this auction is the clip on plastic heatshield. I remember someone in HK used to sell those. Now I really wish that I would have bought a few when I had the chance. :(

  16. Anyone at the last MWCon got to see these amazing prototypes in person thanks to XSToys!

    :D:p:blink:

Are you serious? Where's the love? :( Didn't anyone take some pictures to share with those of us who couldn't make it to MWCon? Hey XSToys, show us the prototypes! :D

  17. Hello all. I am currently looking for a few of those loose Bandai reissue VF-1S(white) valkyries that are laying around. So to those of you who bought them only for the armor, let me know if you'd be interested in unloading the valkyrie itself. And if for any reason you are interested in getting rid of a set of armor, I'd be interested in that also. Thanks.

  18. So you are saying that one of us should sell their toy at a reduced (not going market) just because you want to play with it.

Um...no I don't think so. I would rather take somebodys money. If somebody wants to give me $500 for my toy then they can have it over somebody offering $200.

Just a suggestion. Buy it when you see it!

Really overboard miskatonic. Be careful not to alienate yourself before you've really had a chance to be known. ;)

  19. Me and a friend of mine ,Alphonso Mora (together as "Alphateam 11") tried to get this to fly a few years back with 1/55 customs, but getting styrofoam cut into shape (we were going to have them basically re-produce the old Takatoku styro sets) was going to be UBER expensive (as in, we would've needed a full-length production order to make it cost-effective.. a limited run of 500 or less just wouldn't do it for less than a few hundred per box.

By the time we came around to trying just foam (yes, gun-packing foam) inserts, it was still going to be around $50 a piece, and the Yamato 1/60 craze had taken hold, and interest plummeted to less than 100... far short of what we would've needed to continue. the Yamato custom market hadn't really begun, and even then most people hung on to the box for it anyway, which made custom yamato boxes unfeasible.

Let me give you some advice from someone who has tried this before... it's not going to be cheap, and there are feeble-minded donkeys here who think custom work for anything over $29.99 is too much. Boxes themselves are cheap... even getting artwork printed on them is cheap (by comparison), but the inserts are costly.

Here is the last prototype we came up with before the project went under (the box, not the valkyrie!)

Hey Skull Leader I never knew that you were part of Alphateam 11! You guys used to make some nice customs.

    Rick
