  1. BTW, Windcharger is a bit of a letdown. The leg articulation is worse than that of Side Swipe and Dead End. Arm articulation is limited compared to that of Tracks. And the engine/gun (for some odd reason, Hasbro calls the weapon a "shield," especially since the ragtop is already his shield) has no locking mechanism, given that the deleted drive shaft is what's supposed to keep the engine in place in car mode.

And why is it that the red Alternators (namely Side Swipe and Windcharger) tend to look bland compared to the others?

A few pages ago, I mentioned that I couldn't get the knees to bend and so I asked anyone for input. I never got any so I just decided to force the knee to bend and sure enough they are extremely easy to bend after the first time. As for the arm articulation being "limited," there are two easy ways to remedy this for anyone who has the skill of precision. :D

You can either loosen the two screws behind the shoulder until the shoulders are able to bend to a horizontal position.

  2. Who cares! It still looks cool. :D

Agreed, it does look cool. I was just pointing out that it doesn't appear to be an OFFICIAL color scheme from Macross. However, it's nice to see a unique custom paint job that retains a Macross paint scheme, if that makes sense.

  3. Which one is the 2nd on the bottom right? The Alaska 1A? Looks like it. And what about the grey 1J?

Yes that's the Alaska Base VF-1A and the grey VF-1J is supposed to represent the VF-1J that Hikaru is seen training in while becoming a fighter pilot. Although, I think that GREY is an incorrect color. I've always thought that the VF-1J he flew was a BROWN cannon fodder 1J with some color loss due the age of the animation. Maybe I'll have to view that episode again to see if I'm right. Hey, can anyone get a screen capture of the 1J trainer?

  4. anyone still interested?

    (yeah right :D )

I would say yes, some of us are interested in getting a custom box. However, I think that it would be really cool if you went a step further and created a box for the following valkyries as well.

    1) VF-1A Max

    2) VF-1A Kakizaki

    3) VF-1A Angelbird

    4) VF-1A Alaska (might be stretching it here because this one only had one minute of airtime, if that. )

I would say that the first 3 would be a definite must in order to create a complete line of Takatoku SDF Macross boxes. I know that I'd buy one of each. :D

  5. For those of you who live in the east SF Bay Area, I have some good news. Day before yesterday a friend of mine(doesn't collect TF's) went into a local Target to kill time while his tires were mounted on his truck and he ended up finding a Windcharger and a Swindle for me. :) To top that off, today he and his girlfriend were near Pleasanton and they ended up going into Target. While there the same friend found a Grimlock, Ravage, Swindle and Windcharger. :D I am going to his place tomorrow to pick up my Grimlock and Ravage.

The bottom line is that if you live in or around the Bay Area, this might be a "Prime" time to check out the local Target's. It seems like Target stores are restocked.

Damn, that's corrosive. What kind of paint thinner did you use? I used Testors Brush Cleaner to wipe off any overspray on my Tracks and had no problem.

As for the seats, all I did was paint over the red. I have no problems transforming Tracks with the seats painted black.

I used Testors Paint Thinner to remove the red paint. I do want to clarify that the reason the plastic looks melted is because I tried to glue it back together with Krazy Glue. The seats(where the metal hinge is located) actually broke into 5 pieces on one side and 3 pieces on the other side. I'm wondering if it's a combination of inferior plastic + a possible weakening of it(plastic) when the metal bar is pushed in place on the assembly line. The reason I say this is because the plastic didn't seem to stretch apart but actually fractured like a puzzle with very little pressure appled by the Q-tip. I am now thinking of just painting them black when I acquire a new one.

Hey areaseven, how did you cut the water slide decal to fit around the raised Corvette emblem on the rear of the car? I had to cut the hood decal to fit correctly and I found the roof decal a little small but the back emblem presented a real problem to cut around. Did you make some sort of a template? If so, what did you use for this?

  7. ANYONE THINKING ABOUT CUSTOMIZING ALTERNATOR TRACKS, PLEASE READ!

Hello all. Recently, I decided to customize my Alternator Tracks into the Commemorative Edition. After applying the decals on the car shell I decided to remove the red paint from the seats to make it more like the real Commemorative Edition car. After taking the seats out, I used a Q-tip dipped in paint thinner to remove the paint but after a minute or two the seats began to fall apart at the hinge? The bad part is the the hing is the only thing holding the roof of the car to the rest of its body. I have never dropped this item and I didn't use something as harsh as paint REMOVER but it still fell apart. ONCE AGAIN, EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WITH THE SEATS, BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY FRAGILE.

  8. its too bad the molds were destroyed in a boating accident.

Okay, now where did you hear this from? The reason I ask this is because every time I have heard a rumor that some toy mold was either destroyed or deteriorated, the toy seems to get reissued. Too much hear say! :D

  9. Hey Kidk, we need more of your custom 1/55's added to the customs page. I don't have any of RTH's stuff but I have all pictures taken of Jung's bad ass autographed Millia VF-1J. Like this one below. Once again Jung, much props! :D

  10. First of all, I agree with those who see Christopher Reeves as the only Superman. I actually liked his Clark Kent rendition because Superman was everything Kent was not. This night and day comparision could only help a superhero that doesn't wear a mask, because the glasses Kent wore just weren't enough. :D

It is PAINFULLY obvious that Hollywood is saturated with NO TALENT writers who have to regurgitate old stories every 20 years because they lack the vision to create new and interesting ideas. Television is even worse. Reality TV anyone? I say make new movies about new heroes or original movies about old heroes that have never escaped the pages of a book. I for one really hope that Hollywood eventually makes a movie about The Micronauts! ;)

  11. Hey it is a 10 year old design. It was great back then.

Unless it is now the year 1992, the design is over 20 years old. The Takatoku's were originally produced around 1982. However, if I'm wrong and it really is 1992, I have a second chance to make up for A LOT of missed opportunities in my alternatre reality!

  12. Hello all. I am looking to borrow the Starblazers 1&2 season DVD's for about two weeks. I would of course pay the shipping and handling fees within the US that is. I've been a member of these forums for a long time and am on the straighshooters list, so you can trust me when I say that I just want to borrow them. I've been unable to find a place that rents them and I only want to watch them once, not collect the sets. Can anyone here help me out? :D
