  1. I don't get it Bandai's Aquarion DX had great quality control, nice finish, excellent paint apps no scratches or greased up finger prints really SOC quality why isn't the VF-25's graced with that type of "quality" ? Factory change?, lower standards? For a high quality toy this just seems to out of place for bandai.

LOL you're kidding me right, especially on great quality control? That thing was the floppiest figure I ever owned, right out of the box. Nice finish yes, overall quality---POOR.

After all these comments about Ozma, I may have to invest in getting an armour set for Alto and later buying the renewal DX. I'm not fond of having to swap neck parts for it to transform.

The oily, greasy surface is a given on such toys. Masterpiece Skywarp, with a gloss finish, is still "oily" after years of having him. I think it has something to do with how the paint attaches on the given material and what paint is used.

  2. Hmm... If I understand correctly from the instruction booklet, no.

As a side note, transformation is not "perfect" anyways. There are parts you need to remove (leg armors in particular) for some steps. And sometimes for easy handling you may want to remove the big backpack boosters first too.

I don't blame Bandai for this (I do hate them for the QC) because the transformation is already reasonably clean. Just that the little neck extension shouldn't be holding you back.

I don't mind removing the armour when transforming it, but I do mind having to pop the head out everytime I go from fighter to battroid just so I can have a more decent looking robot...

  3. Heh.

    USED TO HAVE

    1/48 Hayao Kakizai VF-1A

    1/48 Max Jenius VF-1A

    1/60 VF-0S with ghost booster

    1/60 SV-51 Ivanov

    1/60 YF-19 Black version

Right now all I have is

    1/60 v2.0 VF-1S Max DYRL ver.

  4. Hello all

Just trying to find some strike\super fast packs for my 1/60 v2.0 VF-1S Max valkyrie. All accessories must be present and preferably an unused sticker sheet\instructions manual.

I want the fast packs shipped loose as I have no intention of keeping the box.

Send me all offers via pm

Can pay via paypal, seller must be able to send items to Greece, Europe!

    Thanks

  5. DYRL for me. My first 1/48, first Yamato Macross is now being revamped into a better figure. How could I not get it?

The TV ver. is nice as well, but I actually prefer the DYRL colour scheme to his TV colours.

  6. With the 1/48s I've sold, along with any other toy that comes in a stupidly huge box, I like to give the buyer the option of taking it without the box for much cheaper shipping.

That's what I did when I sold off my 1/48s. It's seriously much easier for both the seller [less worries about the huge box] and the buyer [less shipping charges, less chance it'll get held at customs if international]

  7. Sorry, but that's nothing.

Two of my last orders were held at customs for over a MONTH each and I had to pay close to 100 euros for each shipment [around USD 120] to get them.

And I paid for express shipping in order to get the items on time for an occasion.

Since you're in the US, if the items are indeed toys\collectibles, you won't have to pay a dollar for them.

  8. Remember, there are people who do like this toy and are highly interested in its durability, poseability and overall looks besides those shown in the promo photos! Is the toy really more durable? Does it look as bad as some people have said? Do the legs really hang that low, and does the VF-25S really not have a neck-- or are those just mis-transformations? All these are worthy questions that I hope some kind (and relatively richer than me) soul will answer, so that we can all share in the joy of a new toy!

This. I'm waiting to see what issues [if any] are present before buying Altos' DX figure. Experience with macross products the last 2 years has taught me to wait for a second release, regardless. And for every nice and tight MG figure bandai made those past years, there's always the recurring thought of my DX Aquarion, which was a floppy mess.

But Alto's mine, either in January or in a second wave ^_^

  9. So here's a thought, please don't mutilate me for it;

I'm pretty sure most of you got a Movie Leader Prime [either version] or a Movie Leader Brawl from Hasbro in the past year. Nearly everybody and his mom have that Prime.

I'm not going to count electronics this time, but the thing retailed for US 40 [the asking price in Japan was US 61 or sth, though]. Now that thing has a more complex transformation [in my opinion] than the 1/48 VF-1 and the newer 1/60 VF-1. It's cheaper, more articulated and more detailed than the 1/48 valkyrie. And by detailing I do not mean accuracy to the line-art, but actual sculpting on the figure's plastic. Heck, my Universe\Henkei Powerglide has far more panel-lines, rivets and bolts sculpted on than the 1/48 I used to own.

I'm a bit tired of reading about Yamato being a young company. How long has it been, 10 years? Now surely that's about 1/5 of what Hasbro is around, but STILL, that's some years of experience in handling transforming mechanoids. The biggest laughing stock of Yamato was surely the whole VF-0 fiasco; it took them what, 1-2 years to produce a non-faulty version?

I believe the whole "not exporting their goods to the US because of HG" is also a bit old. People whine and bitch about paying 50 USD for a transformer figure or not finding it on clearance a day after release, you think they'd fork over ~180 USD per figure if they were released in the US? I'm a firm believer that whomever wants a Yamato valkyrie and is situated in the US or EU like me gets it via import. I get my transformers via importing because even after shipping they are cheaper than the shelf price here, what makes you think I'd get a Yamato valkyrie if I saw one for ~250 euros in a store?

This all comes from a fan who has handled and owned every yamato release from their 1/48 VF-1 to the 1/60 YF-19. I absolutely loved the SV-51 but that was it, I was left pretty uninterested by the rest of them. Will I get more? I'll fork over cash when they release a VF-1A Max TV version, then maybe get a Fokker to go with it.

Most of us are fans of these figures\universe of sci-fi, but have you asked somebody that may have casually handled one of these figures what they think about them? What they think about the price\what you get ratio?

Yamato also has the opportunity to milk most of these moulds dry via repaints. Only thing they had to change for the 1/48 figs was the head sculpt and colours, same thing goes for their newer ver 2.0 but this time with a remould for the two-seaters.

So in retrospect, as a transforming figure with the transformation scheme that's offered, yes, we're paying a bit too much for these figures.
