  1. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a Stealth. Part of the skull is on the gray leading edge of the tail fin.

If someone who has customized a Stealth could answer back and let me know what they might have used to remove the painted skull emblem from that part, or perhaps covered it up with a paint, perhaps they would be willing to share the type of paint they used.

  2. theres no such thing as perfect matching paint.

paint is paint, colored plastic is colored plastic.

you'll have to mix your own and hope to get the color as close as possible.

    just wondering,

but why would you spend an large sum of money to buy an LV1, only to mod it out?

why not just buy a cheap valk and paint the whole thing the way you want it?

Thanks for the tip. I thought that maybe someone who had customized a Stealth had used something and could give me some help. I wouldn't think I'm the first person who's customized a stealth for the Takatoys stickers, but I guess I could be.

If nobody did it, why are there custom stickers out there for it? Takatoys and Robographix both have LV1 sets...I can't be the first person who thought about putting custom stickers on a LV1, can I?

Maybe I'm wrong and everybody is just customizing their entire valks...

I guess when I look at it there's SIGNIFICANTLY less work (and money) involved. I can learn how to customize an entire valk, and then do it, ruin a couple (or more)(probably $130 each) until I'm finally good, OR I could paint part of a tail fin and put a custom sticker on it. In the end, I'd end up spending probably $450 going that route. Not to mention spending the money on an airbrush and all the other tools to customize...

Is there such a thing as a 'cheap valk'? I haven't run into one of those yet. Most people are charging $80+ even for loose CF's...

  3. Because it's a bland, boring color scheme, that probably wouldn't sell very well.

Also, Yamato have never sculpted and thus do not have the tooling for a TV type 1A head.

    Graham

Man, that really surprises me. I understand about the head, but just figured they'd use the DYRL 1A head like they did on the Angel Birds (TV valk). I would think that a lot of people would be all over a cannon color scheme that's never been had in 1/60 or 1/48 from Yamato.

However, that being said, I'm new to this and do not have much of a grasp on the marketing philosophy at work here. Personally I hope it happens, and I know I'd pick up the Max and Kakizaki TV versions were they ever to be released.

  4. I was looking through the custom gallery on my lunch at all the beautiful custom valks and it just occured to me, does anybody sell any of these? I would think you could make a ton of money on them.

Just curious...if this is the wrong forum, I apologize.

  5. Theres an english manga magazine that often refers to Robotech, they also usually show mospeada screen grabs too. maybe there is someting in it. They do say though that Robotech brought manga to the western masses. There never seems to be mentions about its true origins though.

Basically boiling it down you are saying that its not that great an anime, and certainly not worth getting all hot and bothered about. Just wait till its in the 9.99 bin at Blockbusters.

    I don't disagree with this.

Robotech was my first real exposure on a major basis to Anime. Sure I'd seen Star Blazers, BotP and some others, but Robotech was what really hooked me. I only had 5 TV channels when I was a kid, and no internet or anything like that, so I just had no opportunity for exposure.

Until Robotech. As a kid, I LOVED that show. It really is what got me started on Anime at all.

  6. Ok, I don't believe we've heard anything official about 1/48 scale VF-1 releases in '07, beyond the "Urban Camo" GBP, right?

So, is there any conjecture as to what MIGHT be coming out?

We know they 'might' reissue the VF-1J Max and Miria and they 'might' or 'might not' be supers.

Could we see a Max TV VF-1A?

    Non-cannon repaints?

  7. LOL, seeing that post again, I guess Sephiroth was already well aware of Agent GHQs SuperOs and was looking for someone else to deal with. My memory sucks... apparently so does my spelling by the looks of those posts! :)

PS - My exgirlfriend gave me my LV1 back and I haven't seen her since... no more greater L.A. loving for me :(

Jenius, if that LV1 has bad memories associated with it, I'd be willing to take the burden and help a guy out. All in the name of healing, you know.

    ;)

  8. Another Roy vote, for obvious reasons.

Get a set of stealth FP to put on it. They look much better IMHO.

I was looking at my Roy and Stealth the other night an thinking this EXACT thing. I'll have to try this tonight...

  9. Again, PRICE IS NEGOTIABLE. Is everybody happy?

I didn't say that I'd seen EVERY auction, I just said that I'd seen one go for $290 and another for ~$280. I also have seen an auction from a seller in HK recently that has been relisted about 3 times that is a Low Vis 1 for $300. I have not seen that sell yet.

If anyone WHO HAS A LOW VIS 1 THEY WOULD LIKE TO PART WITH would like to start a discussion with me, starting at AROUND $250, please PM me.

This was not intended to be a thread discussing the free market price of the Low Vis 1 on ebay and affiliated internet auction sites.

    Thanks!

    :D

  10. No problem! :)

Glad I wasn't looking for this then!

    Wow!

It dropped that much on ebay?!?

I don't check ebay very often so I thought it was still at in the $500 price range. Sorry.

  11. As I said, price is negotiable.

I've been watching, and in the last month I haven't seen one go for over $290. One went for $280 the other day.

A guy from Hong Kong has one listed for $300 that he hasn't been able to sell for quite a while now, just keeps relisting it.

    $250?

I'll just wish you good luck then, cause the low vis 1 was getting prices in the $500-$600 range a couple of months ago on ebay.

  12. Anybody have a spare? :D

Willing to pay ~$300, but prefer less. I'll pay shipping.

Payment via Paypal CC payment. I will add the 4% to cover fees for premium accounts.

    Thanks again!

    *edited to clarify Payment Method*

  13. yeah.. its a heck of process but i think its better cos those silver lines can be removed easily...

i didnt remove the original emblem off the left wing i just cut the sticker into size and paste it over carefully.. :p neat trick ah...

Thanks for the tip. I'm ordering some Takatoys stickers for my Stealth (hopefully) and that looks much better than the red emblem.

  14. actually its silver chalk on stealth :D .. i scraped the silver chalked into powder using a hobby knife then i mixed it with alil bit water and liquid soap to make it thick mixture.. then i apply on the lines using a fine brush leave to dry then use a damp facial tissues or cutton buds to remove excess... :D

    WOW! That's a heck of a process!

One other question, and this is probably a NUB question, so pardon me. How did you get the original emblem off the left wing so that you could replace it with the stealth emblem?

  15. And considering the rehashed so much of what was going on in the last episode of Mospeada, you'd think they could have at least included a shot of Yellow, Hoquette, Ray, Jim, & Mint. But not so much.

I COMPLETELY agree with this. It really ticked me off how they completely left all of those characters out, especially in the shots inside Reflex Point with the Regis. Ummm...Scott was inside with the Regis and Ariel. As were Rand, Rook and a bunch of the others if I recall correctly.

Anyway, that was really one of the main things I had a beef with. They already cut up 3 Japanese series to make this series, now they can't even keep their OWN continuity straight.
