  1. Hmmmmm....... That's a though one.

I'd probably get them both if I have the resources. Already have at least one of each of the currently released 1/48's. And I love 'em all.

No vote for me...... Yet. ;)

  2. Hello Everyone,

Not sure it this has been asked, but can you go from ground fights and then switch to fighter mode and have a dog fight? Or is there a magical bubble that blocks you from taking off into the air like BattleCry.

    Thanks,

    Gene

Yes, there's a "magical bubble" in the ground stages like in Mars.

Stages like the duel with Millia also has the "magical bubble" but is very big so you can have dog fights.

OT: Whew, I've been out for the longest time. nice to be back... Now let me read the thread on Toynami's DYRL? toys... <_<

  3. With these assumptions, we can conclude: If a plane has "zero" as the first digit, it is a VF-1A; If the "zero" is in the middle, it is a VF-1J.

    :)

    Mild logic problem...

    If the first digit is a 0, it is a 1A OR a 1S. If the second digit is a 0 it is a 1J OR a 1S.

Only analysis of both the first and second digits under your system can yield conclusive ID without a view of the head.

Maybe I should add: If the first two digits are "0", it is a VF-1S.

  4. I managed to unlock all the valks a couple of months ago. It's a fulfilling experience.

I couldn't resist getting Hikaru's red VF-1S at first. So I told myself I'll stop there. But the excessive compulsive inside me just dragged me into getting all.

  5. My assumptions:

    a) 001 = the first two "zero"s are reserved for the VF-1S

    b) 013 = is the 3rd VF-1A which is a subordinate of 001.

How do we know it is a VF-1A? because it has "0" as the first digit

How do we know it belongs to 001's group? because of the second digit which is "1".

How do we know it is the 3rd "A"? 3rd because of the number "3" in "013"

    c) Hikaru is 011 which means he is the first VF-1A under 001's command.

    d) 101 = is the first VF-1J which is a subordinate of 001

How do we know it is a VF-1J? because it has "0" in the middle

How do we know it belongs to 001's group? because of the first digit which is "1".

How do we know it is the 1st "J"? because of the last number "1" in "101"

    e) 102 would be the second VF-1J of the same squad.

    f) 202 = is the second VF-1J which is a suborniate of 002.

With these assumptions, we can conclude: If a plane has "zero" as the first digit, it is a VF-1A; If the "zero" is in the middle, it is a VF-1J.

    :)

  6. The VF-1J has all the improvements first introduced way back on the VF-1A Max type, which include: -

    1) Improved nosecone design that does not fall off so easily.

    2) Improved flaps which do not come off so easily.

    It also has: -

    3) The improved easier opening front landing gear doors, first introduced on the VF-1A Low Vis.

Other changes to the VF-1J Hikaru include: -

    4) Resculpted curved headrest on the pilot seat, first introduced on the VF-1S Hikaru. This change was made primarily to accomodate the TV type pilot which is larger at the rear than the DYRL pilot helmets.

    5) All new Hikaru TV pilot sculpt, made of the same rubber type material first used on the Low Vis Pilot. Hikaru pilot figure has a central joystick moldedto the right hand.

    6) Addition of 4 non-articulated rubber TV type hands, including: - left and right closed fist, right gunpod hand, left open hand.

    7) All new resculpted TV forearms. These were done primarily to correct the shape of the elbows and make them more accurate by including the 'U' shape end profile, not beacuse of the stripe issue as tom64ss suggested.

    8) All new TV type arm FAST Packs, shorter than the DYRL versions and with an angled front profile and smaller arm missiles.

    9) VF-1J FAST Packs are a lighter shade of blue than the DYRL FPs.

    Graham

How about the 90% arm bend not present in the first releases of the VF-1A Hikaru & VF-1S Roy?

  7. I looked in the Macross Compendium and I couldn't see where the other episode of the the Macross 7 series went. I need help. Please arrange these items below in order; Which one happened first to last. If I left one out, please mention it. Thanks:

    Macross 7 Series

Macross 7 Plus (yes I know this is like an OMAKE)

Macross 7 Movie The Galaxy is Calling me

Macross 7 Fleet of the Strongest Women

    Macross 7 Dynamite

    Macross 7 Encore

  8. Just to let you know, with the help of MW member Valkyrie, I posted a couple of topics in English on the official Japanese BBS for the Macross PS2 game.

My first topic was asking if anybody knew what happened to the missing YF-19, YF-21, VF-0S and SV-51. I did actually get a couple of replies in pretty good English, but it seems like nobody there has any idea either.

My second topic was suggestions for improvements I'd like to see in a sequel game. No replies to this one yet. I tried to keep the English as simple as possible.

Anyway, my personal theory is that either Big West or Bandai decided to pull the other VFs to save them for a sequel game. If a sequel game is based on either Macross Zero or Macross Plus then there should be lots of Valk vs Valk action and hopefully a 2-player vs mode.

    Graham

    Thanks Graham and Valkyrie. :)

Sure wish our friends in Japan gather information regarding the Macross Zero and Macross Plus Valks and reply in that message board.

    Keep us updated! :)

  9. Hmmmm.....................smell the BS.

I have tried the VF-1J Super FPs on a Focker VF-1S and they fit perfectly. So yes, they do fit on all 1/48s.

Also, the FPs that come with the VF-1J are a slightly lighter shade of blue than the DYRL FPs. They are not green.

The only parts that are different between the two styles of FP are the arm packs, which are TV style, but will fit on all 1/48s.

    Graham

    What?

Graham you got your 1/48 VF-1J with Super Fps? Was that is pre-production sample or is it readily available in the local toy market in Hong Kong. If you have received yours, would you kindly do a preview/write up on the VF-1J/Fps if you have the time? Thanks for your time and assistance.

    Cheers

Yeah!. Also a VF-1S Hikaru Review...
