  1. Danth, Episodes 2 (1988) and 3 (1990) are good but came much later and therefore have little resemblance to the original in terms of animation, music and plot. The original episode provided here from 1986 is self contained and by far the best imo, the others just didn't need to be made.

Agreed, fifbeat, old school (80's) is great because it was just so radical, daring and ambitious for it's time.

Violence Jack isn't a knock off to Fist of North Star, just has a similiar feel to it. Violence Jack manga came out in 1973 while the Fist of the North Star's manga came out in 1983. Violence Jack probaly influenced the creator of Fist of the North Star, while ironically the style that TV series was made in, probaly influenced the style the OVA used.

  2. Glad everyone enjoyed this, our very small fansub group is still 100% dedicated to releasing the best and most obscure OVA's of the 80's. We consider the first OVA of Violence Jack to defintly be up there,

Describing it is as a a more extreme hokuto no ken (fist of north star) clone is a perfect description. It's got everything with more graphic violence, raunchier scenes, even the animation is very high end for 1986.

Our group won't be subbing episodes 2 and 3 though since we are currently working on another Go Nagi anime called Fandora.

The first and the best episode of Violence Jack from 1986 is now available. Encoded from the R2J DVD and fansubbed with a proper english translation make it the best version available.

This is a classic, amazing character designs with a funky high pitched electonic score, lots of violence, sex etc.

Screen caps coming soon, feedback and discussion encouraged.

    Megazone 23 - Lost Clip 2

Despite the changing production teams and seeing a huge change character designs between part 1 and part 2 of Megazone 23 OVA's. Apparently this footage shows rare animation footage apparently either animated for the English Education Edition of Megazone 23 or the never released Robotech the movie. Which one is it?

Clip 1 shows us a great trip through space with some excellent music, then we get some new animation that starts from and extends the ending of Megazone 23 Part 1, we also briefly see some reused shots shortly after.

Clip 2 has some really great new animation, with the occasion reusing of a background form Part 1. The funky electronic BGM music track is pretty cool. It's a shame the real Part 2 of Megazone 23 didn't turn out into anything even remotely similiar to this.

I love those hover bikes and the more intense military style to it. Enjoy!

  5. Lastly, the music in the Appleseed OVA is funky! It's classic cheese from the '80's.

The music is awesome, that high pitched, squeaky electronic score is epic. I wish I had the soundtrack to it!

The original Appleseed OVA is way under rated, I guess it's time to bring back one of my favourite backgrounds:

  6. Yeah UK Amazon do ship to the US, you can also use Amazon Marketplace too incase it's cheaper.

Check your tv to make sure it accepts a PAL signal or if it doesn't a DVD player that converts PAL to NTSC.

Also your need a multiregion dvd player to play region 2 dvds (Europe & Japan), otherwise your need to rip it and burn it on to a dvd-r to remove the region coding.

  7. All those bidding sites are really expensive, even the cheapest shoppingmalljapan costs far too much for regular use.

I recommend finding a online friend based in Japan that will bid and ship for you, much cheaper this way.

Shame Ebay Japan never took off and Yahoo Japan Auctions is pretty much limited only to Japanese residents.

Urban Square (on the left) is a 50 minute OVA from 1986. It's a gritty, detective drama based storyline, using realistic character designs with an atmospheric jazzy soundtrack. There is even time for some steamy romance and light comedy too - Click Here for Torrent

Del Power X (on the right) is a 40 minute OVA also from 1986. It's a hilaruous Project A-ko style parody show but with intense mecha battles, wrestling moves and some really crazy characters including one person called Nick Jagger! - Click Here for Torrent

Conclusion: Both highly recommended but my pick of the week is Del Power X, an unique oddity that harks back to the insane days of Project A-ko both in action and character designs

  9. BlueFlames-1.jpg

Blue Flames OVA from 1989, rare and obscure title just released now on animesuki by myself.

    Language: Japanese with English Subtitles

    Genres: Drama , Romance

Plot Summary: Ryuuichi is a high-school student tired of living in a small town with small people. He\'s determined to claw his way to the top of Tokyo, and he`ll use any woman he can to do it.

Let me know what you think of the anime - enjoy!

  10. So I watched all of it, and I really liked it. It reminded me of a mix between Project A-ko and Prefectural Defense Force, but with more spaceships and stuffed animals. I don't know Japanese, but based on the animation alone, I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it came out on DVD.
Yeah for the stuffed animals in the spaceship, this anime is easily one of the cutest of all time with so many light shades of red and pink. Also well spotted with the Macross parody, one of the commanders was wearing the appropriate captain's hat and uniform. I really liked how the anime was more comedy and parody to begin with but then moved to a more serious tone with intense action and character depth for the second half. I want it on DVD too, I think we need to create a thread and campaign for it over at animeondvd.

88, I also found California Crisis. Holy jeebus does it look amazing. The art style is something like 80's surfer t-shirt prints. Well, the look is hard to describe, but I really like it.
It has one of the most unique art styles ever and thats a fact. It really screams American animation somehow, it's obvious they were going for that kind of look to match the setting. I found California Crisis a little harder to follow though because it's more dialogue based than Cosmos Pink Shock despite the cool and breezy chase scenes.
  11. hey elektrix..if you are going to order the new boxset, you probably should right away, the site says low stock...atleast it did earlier. Im sure at that price, they are flying out of the warehouse.
Yeah and once their stock is gone they won't be able to sell anymore since this was just leftover stock from the days Animeigo had the license.

I'm suprised it taken nearly a year for it to completly sellout, hurry up guys, looks like these next months will be most fan's last chance to own this version.
