  1. I also missed out on Fry's GREAT $69.99 deal, by the time I got to Best Buy (I was planning to do a price match) they were all sold out.

Yeah, I went to my local and only Fry's in Sacramento this past Sunday and they were sold out of the three movie extended edition box set at $72.99. I am sure that I will find copies at Walmart and/or Costco. I am just surprised at the demand.

  2. hmm cool.

I would say I'm pretty much in it for the nostalgia.

I haven't seen the back of a star wars Mattel toy card in years.. that yellow field with all the figures on it really stirred up some ancient ancient feelings from my childhood and living in Tucson, AZ.. man life was grand back then.. going down to the Safeway supermarket and buying a new toy. :D I always wanted the AT-AT but never got it either...

;) Just to clarify, Kenner orginally made Star Wars toys. Hasbro bought them out and they are the current producer of Star Wars toys.

  3. Just to let ya know Fry's Electronics has the Exteneded Edition Trilogy for $69.99 (until Friday).

You know, I went to go buy it at Fry's and it was sold out. Then I went to Target, it was sold out.

Anybody know where I can get this for 79.99 or less? (I'm talkin brick n mortar store not online stores)

While prices may be regional, try Walmart. Mine in Sacramento is selling for around $72.99. Fry's increased their price to that as well after one day.

  4. This all depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. If you are in it for the nostalgia, be prepared to spend a lot of money. If you just want characters and vehicles from the original films, I would take full advantages of getting the Original Trilogy Collection available now.

If you want some resources of Star Wars collectibles, I would check out some of the following books written by Lucas Films Director of Creative Marketing Stephen J. Sansweet who himself remains a huge Star Wars collector.

Star Wars Scrapbook: The Essential Collection

  5. Nice pics, although does anyone have any pics of the SOP Yamato with the Nomuras (or a Mikumo reissue) or an original Popynica (preferably the Big Scale one, but somehow I doubt many people would be willing to shell out the cash for it)?

Someone did a comparison between the 20" Popinica Yamato and the BPX-01 Yamato. Currently, I can not find, but I will post the link if I locate it. From what I remember the 20" Popinica Yamato is a little bigger and obviously heavier. Essentially, I compare those two like the chunky monkey in comparsion to a 1/48 valkyrie. One is heavier and more rugged. The other is more delicate, but has more detail.

Speaking of EDF ships, check out this version of Okita's flagship from the first Yamato episode. ;)

  6. I finally had a chance to take some better comparison pictures.

Should anyone want additional pictures or images of the other EDF ships, let me know.

For reviews and features on this previously released toy, I would check the following links at Toyboxdx.

    The 19800¥ Question

    Big (Scale) Ones

I personally enjoy this piece. Is it worth the price? Like many of you, I did find it pricey even when it was initially offered. However, I am a huge Space Battleship Yamato fan. Given its many features, despites its lack of metal contact, I could not wait for this to come out so I pre-ordred it from HJL. For myself, I found it a worthwhile purchase just as I bought a 1/48 VF-1S and fastpacks. ;)

  7. Wow. Those look pretty sweet. How much do they generally go for?

Regrettably, the Museum of Leiji Matsumoto were released a few years back and are no longer produced. The toy pieces were released 24 years ago. Your best bet is when they occasionally pop up on eBay. During the Thanksgiving weekend, I will try to take more detailed and sid-by-side comparison pictures.

  8. Are speaking of the Space Battleship Matsumoto or all of the various series he had a design in. If you have concerns about the Museum of Leiji Matsumoto series, I can tell you that I am very satisified with them. While the older Yamato display pieces may have a few moving parts, Museum of Leiji Matsumoto pieces have a lot of detail, but prove extremely delicate. I need to take apicture of my collection, but check my reply at the "Likelihood of a BPX-01 re-release?, Please Bandai/Diamond.. say yes." thread for some pictures by other people.

While long sold out, also check out Just Be Toys'  Yamato selection for some pictures.

I'm not familiar with that line. I was talking about the miniatures for the Yamato war game.

I took some quick and dirty pictures. Pardon the mess, I need to get my collection into a display case and they are just sitting in a spare room.

Three on the right are the Museum of Leiji Matsumoto EDF battleship, Yamato and Andromeda. Three on the left are their 1980 toy predecessors (company name escapes me).

  9. But is there an Arcadia as well?

How about just doing all the Matsumoto ships! I'd love to have a set. Too bad I've heard a lot of bad things about the Yamato/Star Blazers miniatures, otherwise I'd be picking those up.
