  1. Yeah....I just saw Spongebob a few weeks ago (my 3YO daughter's first theater experience) and the writing, pacing, pretty much everything was vastly superior to any of the TF movies. I'd say it was a more intelligent and less jeuvenile film than any of them, too.

Anyway, I’ve just learned to live with these movies since they obviously aren’t going away. People just seem to really like them and want more. I’m convinced Bay could take 25% of each film so far, mix them together and release it as Transformers 5 and people would still love it. It would probably be the best selling movie of all time. I have that little faith in the movie-going public these days.

  2. Heh, my Quickslinger drama continues! It arrived today and has black paint all over the canopy, a seriously bent verticle tailfin and a comic that looks like someone carried it around in their ass pocket for a day before slipping it into the package. Luckily Amazon still has them in stock so I can do a quick and easy exchange. I think I just heard my Alpha Bravo utter a Mr. Burns style "Excellent."

  3. I wasn't clear in my meaning; I knew Adventure Time was still going, and I figured Squidbillies was too. I just find it amazing that shows like this enjoy longevity when good shows get the boot. Apologies to those who like Adventure Time; I know people like it, but I can't understand why.

Nah, you were clear, I just read your post too fast and misunderstood. I used to think the same about Adventure Time before I actually watched a few episodes all the way through. Once I got a feel for the show and realized it was, at heart, an old-fashioned adventure show with real plots, I fell in love with it. Now that I'm on the 6th season I'm still continually impressed by how solid the writing is and how so many story arcs span multiple seasons.

Anyway, Transformers! My Slingshot from Amazon should arrive tomorrow finally. Not sure why it took them a full week to send it, but whatever whatevs.

  4. Agree about 4th season; it would have been great. Anyone know if that story was continued in the comics? I'd love a graphic novel continuation in the same vein as Avatar: The last Airbender's The Promise and The Search, which answered lingering questions and filled some story gaps from the animated show. If anyone here is going to Botcon this year, Derrick Wyatt is one of the featured guests this year. The question of a comic book or graphic novel continuation of Animated may be what it takes to stir up interest. Just sayin'.

I feel the same about the new Thundercats show from a couple years ago; good show that was hitting its stride, then got cancelled. Cartoon Network boggles my mind when they cancel good shows like Symbionic Titan, Beware the Batman, Thundercats, etc, but Squidbillies, Adventure Time, and such go on for years.

Agreed on all counts, except Adventure Time (which is currently my favorite cartoon on the air) hasn't been cancelled. It's still going strong and just won a Peabody award.

And no, Animated hasn't been continued in comic form but I really, really wish it would be.

  5. If I could post in Japanese I'd tell them to keep the colors exactly as is.

They would reply, "Of course! Yes!" And then...

it'll probably come out in low vis gray

    ...that will happen. :p

However it comes out, I'll likely be fine with it. I LOVE how it looks right now, but I'll be fine with darker gray too.

  6. Thanks for checking! I didn't care for the exhaust pipe Dead End comes with so i tried a bunch of guns from other TFs and they all fall right out. I guess I'll exchange him for another if/when I see one in the store (Ha!).

Amazon Prime is awesome. My wife and I each got a free year via the Amazon Mom thing when our daughter was born, and we staggered it so together we had free Prime for nearly two years.

  7. Well, I hope it works out for you, Hikuro.

Quickslinger and Brake-Neck arrived today for me, so I can (and will) go back to calling them Slingshot and Wildrider.

So, Wildrider... it seems like his hand/foot peg hole is a little wide, and the peg on his hand/foot/weapon thingy a little small. Way too loose. I swapped his with Dead End's, though, and it seems ok.

Wow that was fast, mine haven't even shipped yet. The fist holes on my Dead End are too big like the ones on your Wildrider, he can't hold any weapons. :(

Also it seems BBTS has already sent out Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus figures last week for some customers, while for others (myself included) the release date was bumped out to "Late June". Weird. And I placed my order within an hour after the preorder went up. Oh well, thar be other robits in the sea.

  8. My order was declined cause my card expires in six months. <_< no seriously, that's the reason they gave me.

Weird, the card I used expires in four months and it went through just fine.

  9. What a weird thing to do. I can see them offering it as an option - even if it were the only way to get one from them - but to just blindside people with it after shipping it out and be all like, "oh hay we did you a huge favor dude, but if you don't like it you can totally send it back." They must actively be trying to alienate their customers.

  10. So Quickslinger and Breakneck were already available for order on Amazon a couple days ago. The pages aren't up anymore, but someone on TFW posted a cached page for Quickslinger and I was able to place an order.

No cached page for Breakneck yet. Also, I wont be surprised if my order doesn't get processed since something is bound to be wonky when ordering via a cached page. But whatever, worth a shot.

  11. Quick Q, I just got most of my aerialbots for the CW superion set. All I'm missing is slingshot. Any news on him yet if he's snag able somewhere?

He's an online exclusive and will be available to order May 22nd at BBTS, Amazon and some other stores I can't recall.

This is the BBTS page (it's not actually sold out, just a placeholder until the 22nd)

  12. I agree.

I do not agree. I think VF-zer0s post there backs up my postion. Most People don't have unlimited money to spend on toys. Lots of buyers who would save up for the 1/60 will ponder going for a cheaper option.

There hasn't been since the Hi-metal line stopped putting stuff out... whenever that was? 2009 or 2010?

Some people do buy from multiple lines and companies for sure, but competition is competition.

What I mean is that a VF-1 toy like this isn't a new occurrence in the world of Macross toys. Since the 1980s there have been toys in all sizes and price ranges for the brand so I don't see this as anything really different or unusual. I'm not saying it isn't competition for Arcadia, every toy out there is competing for our money. Just that it's not 'creating a market' as you said.

Regardless, I think it's cool to be sitting here fifteen years after my first visit to Macross World and that there is still a wide variety (relatively speaking) of toys and price ranges to choose from. :)

    VF-1J Armored Valkyrie

    September '15

    Pre-order opens 1st May

    I'd hit it.

But yes, basically this is there to create a middle market - people who might not have the cash for the Arcadia release, or people who see a simliar toy for cheaper and don't care about scale, or people who are just confused.

Nah, it's not creating any market. There have always been Macross toys this size/price range, it's nothing new. Some people just prefer smaller toys, some people buy everything. I just like VF-1 toys - that's the only rational I need for getting one. :)

Also if it's pretty much the same as the previous Bandai Hi-Metal VF-1, it should be a really excellent toy.
