  1. None are "perfect to the T" but IMO the Hasegaw 1/72 VF-1S Strike Valkyrie fighter kit is going to be the best looking fighter to base off of. Stick with one mode or the other (I pick fighter), trying to do both in a model will give you A. lots of headaches and B. a less accurate version of both.
  2. I would like to have seen more shock and awe from roy and hikrau when the macross main cannon fires by itself and takes out part of the city and the island in booby trap. When it happens they say something like "wow flashy"... uhh... hello MAIN CANNON WENT OFF RIGHT ABOVE YOUR HEAD!
  3. 1/48 Hikaru VF-1J! Always my favorite since childhood..
  4. mslz22, I think you should build it at whatever scale you want since its your project. Since this thread has been hanging around for a while already and the response has not been super huge... surprisingly considering whats being offered. Even from that its a different story when payment comes due. I know I am in if its 24 plus in size. From a business stand point at whatever scale you make it, say you have 10 people who really are going to buy it. Would you rather sell those 10 at a lower price for a small scale or a higher price for bigger scale. Taking this project around to some of the other forums, such as SSM, RPF modeling forum you might get a quite a few more bites and knowing what projects have gotten the most excitement.. they are definately the bigger scale ones.
  5. MAN!! GO FOR BIG!!! 1/1500 or larger please!! Bigger ships always have a better WOW factor, can add in more detail (easier to light) and look less like a toy. Ever seen a studio scale model in person? No comparison... Just look at whats been released lately, MR enterprise, MR Falcon, polar lights 1/350 entperise, the new yamato model kit, all of them are HUGE and set themselves apart from anything else in most peoples collection. These are the "top shelf" type models/display pieces. When you see them, you dont think thats a cool model, your like THATS THE FRACKING ENTERPRISE, THE FALCON ETC! Its all due to the size and detailing available that comes with the size. Just think a bigger ship could have the ablity to build in a detailed bridge section (add on kit idea! )! Hollow out hanger bays with tiny valks.. possiblities that just arent possible in small scale. Want a smaller kit? plenty of them out there already... What are the chances you will see someone else offer a studio scale type macross vs a smaller kit. Id bet we see tons of smaller kits before another chance at a massively detailed kit. Dont waste the chance!
  6. *crosses fingers for crusier mode* I like both modes, but I feel the SDF WAS meant to be a cruiser. She looks the best this way IMHO and never gets enough love in toys or models while in this mode. Since its going to be a model, my quess is no full transformation (but I could be wrong?) If anything I would like to see the front cannons be able to configure themselves to firing mode (a la booby trap) while in cruiser mode. Would seems not to hard with just the mandibles twisting to become wider for the blast to charge in between. Out of any projects here or the rpf, this one has my interest the most. A 3 foot plus long sdf-1 super detailed would be a dream come true. I am a sucker for massive capital ships.
  7. Im right there with you! Series designs all the way! Im jonzin to see more of jay's sdf-1 fleshed out.
  8. Excellent choice! Mslz22, I take it you have seen cobys project over at the rpf? Quite a sweet job his doing over there. AND WOW, your galatica... omg.. that is awesome, tell me thats a scratch build. If the macross comes out anything like that..... we are in for something special!! Any thoughts on how you will do it? Will internal lighting be possible? Personally I would like the see the main part of the ship built first, with the "arms" coming out second. A big plus would be the ablity to have the two ships detachable for display purposes (ie, marcoss island display pre-liftoff)
  9. Jezzusss.. this thread is getting too heavy. Too many debbie downers... :/ http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=244 Pinned for almost 4 years here at the top. There is no difference except about 100 gigabytes. Its obvious whats up, lets easy off this high horse riders.....
  10. Cool, good to see some positive interest. I was thinking like 5 bucks. To cover my time(lots), the book(200) and bandwidth(??). I imagine the pdf will be quite huge of a download that I will host on my server. I am tied up till right after xmas, but plan on starting the project then. The more people chime in the better ill feel on cutting 400+ pages out of the book Still havent been able to find that link to the one already done, I kind of doubt its really out there. If it was we would would all have it already me thinks. But if someone finds it please post it!!!
  11. Whoa thats awesome, can you post a link? I tried searching but came up with nothing.
  12. Well offer is out there, trying to give back something cool to the community. You can always PM me if interested. If I get enough interest it will happen.
  13. Hey guys I am considering taking on the project of digitizing the Macross gold book. As in scanning in every single page and producing a big fat PDF Book, that is searchable and printable. Full quality. However this would require me to destroy my copy to do it right. Would anyone be intrested in this? I am thinking of giving this out per donation to cover the expense of buying a new book down the road. How much would you be willing to donate for this? If it generates interest I might take on some of the other rare books in the future.

  16. lol sorry to rub it in, just had to show off at bit at my good fortune. I saw this thread today, looked on ebay and this auction had 2 minutes to go, bid one dollar over and got it. I have tried all the shops that I could find online, all out of stock Ebay is the way to go. This book pops up quite a bit around $30 US most of the time. I will keep my eyes open for another one and let you know.
  17. Nobody is going to buy a yf-19 when yamato is pushing out an almost perfect 1/48 any day now. The macross itself is sorely lacking in quality offerings, especially in larger size (the key issue). Stick with that, make a mint and make my dreams come true. Also I agree on retitling this thread to be more specific.
  18. I have been looking for this book too. Finally paid off! Ebay SCORE! Macross Design Works 21 bucks plus other book and super deformed vf-1d toy! Woot.
  19. SDF-1 TV VERSION PLEASE!! Removeable carrier arms would rock! Too many DRYL versions out there already, give the TV style (better looking too imo) some luvin!
  20. Just got this from Corner Store Comics: We have our first three waves coming in this week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Thanks, CSC Woot!
