1. Won this book by Takashi Murakami at a raffle yesterday. Was flipping through it briefly and gotta say there's a lot of great pics and photos in here. Gonna sit down with this monster (400+pages) this weekend and really read it. It's currently residing on the top of my coffee table to fool visitors into thinking I'm cultured. If any of you are into the high-art scene then I'm sure you've seen Murakami's stuff. He's the man behind Mr. DOB and has had shows at Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York; Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, Paris; Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, Paris. Definitely high-brow stuff most of which I don't get. His Mr. DOB stuff is pretty trippy to look at though.
2. I wonder if we'd still have PSPs and DSs if Pearl Harbor never happened?
3. What year is your friend's Supra? Even if it's the last US production year, that makes it at least 10 years old. Any sportscar that old will eventually run into problems, and that's not factoring in how your friend drove/treated the car. I owned a '95 MR2 Turbo for 4 years and did a lot of speeding/commuting (40 miles from the San Fernando Valley to Long Beach one way and then back again 8 hours later, 5 days a week), plus canyon runs (specifically Mullholland) on the weekends and had no problems whatsoever. Did you buy your MR2 used? And concerning Toyota's V6s, the IS350's V6 (a sports sedan, not a pure sportscar mind you) has more power/torque than the Acura NSX and Infinity G35/Nissan 350Z (which are, with the exception of the G35, pure sportscars). I'm sorry but I don't know which competitors you are talking about posting bigger numbers (unless you're going across the Atlantic to Europe). I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree when it comes to the Big T.
4. Subaru Legacy GT spec.B becomes production model in 2007 Subaru's "Intelligent-Drive" system sounds intriguing. Might have to take one for a test spin and try it out.
5. Divorce the wife, rob a bank, and take a dump on your boss's desk.
6. Yah. We're off in the middle of nowhere from the empire's point of view, and thus from the SA and zentradi POVs as well. 391824 "Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea."
7. Qin Shi Huang (or Ying Zheng), First Emperor of China as protrayed by Xuejian Li in the film The Emperor and The Assassin. I suppose he had a very noble cause, but when you start slaughtering the children of opposing kingdoms I have to move you over to the "badguy" column.
8. The MazdaSpeed3 is supposed to go heads up with the Caliber SRT-4. It'd be interesting to see who comes out on top.
9. Really? Even compared to the European brands (MBZ, BMW, Jag in particular)?
10. I dunno. I've owned 5 Toyotas and they were all tanks. My '89 Corolla DX sedan lasted 289,000+ miles with very little maintenance. Maybe you just have bad luck?
11. I'm sorry, but why attack JB0 for stating the obvious? Most Chinese consumer electronics are not the highest of quality. They use cheaper labor and cheaper materials, and wind up with a product that they can sell for a lot less than a competing American or Japanese brand. This is a strategy that has paid off in spades. As Wal-Mart shoppers gleefully buy the cheapest electronics they can find, China's economic is taking off. Following that logic, if he's blaming anyone, he's blaming his fellow Americans for buying so many "off-brand" electronics in the first place. If Joe Six-Pack would spend a little more on the better brands, he'd be sending a message that he prefers quality over cost. 391675 LOL Relax and take a deep breath, son. It's called a "joke".
12. IIRC Best Buy used to have a "No Questions Asked" policy concerning the return of DVDs. Is this still true?
13. Oh, so it's the Chinese's fault huh? Why's everything gotta be about race with you, JBO?
14. His name is Bolo Yeung. You best respect, homey.
15. Is this Wonderfest related to the Wonderfest held in Japan?
16. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!!! FIGHT THE POWER!!! PAINT THE WHITE HOUSE BLACK!!!
17. Looks kinda "meh" in IMHO. For $50k I'd think I'd opt to save up for a C6 or Cayman. Or possibly buy a used 911. But that's just me.
18. You should never assume, because as the old saying goes it makes an "ASS out of U and ME." Well, mostly U.
19. MazdaSpeed3 greets North America 250-hp 2.3L turbo four + 6-speed manual tranny from the MazdaSpeed6 + stiff & light chassis = SUHWEET!
