  1. This is a LONG thread so forgive me if this has been covered, I've seen a Luke ROTJ FX at my local spencers and a Vader at my local Best Buy, both are the 3 AA battery types are these the "good" types? which one would you guys recommend.

I figure the Vader is more accurate since the Luke has the Fat neck, any other input would be appreciated!

Yeah, these are the good ones. Vader's, Luke's, and Anakin's are the new and improved FX version lightsabers.

BTW, I just got the Anakin FX (first one) and I gotta say it's awesome! Nothing like scaring the crap outta my wife in the middle of the night by turning it on! :D

  2. Just to clarify for everyone:

THE STAR WARS TV SERIES IS NOT ABOUT LUKE SKYWALKER

To quote Rick McCallum, "It’s going to be much darker, much more character-based, and I think it’s going to be everything the fans always wanted the prequels to be. They’ll be one-hour episode. It takes place between Episodes III and IV. It’s going to be all-new characters, maybe a few bounty hunters in there to start the series off."

I'm sure Roy or another mod can go back and fix the thread sub-title before others come into it posting on it.

Oh great. Just what SW needed after those prequel failures. A tv series failure.

Maybe someone should tell McCallum that darker and character driven DON'T happen when EVERYONE knows what's going to happen. This is only gonna fly if he's planning to kill off 50% of the cast per season to keep character mortality at the forefront and to make reality "Anything goes, and nothings 'safe' or a 'known'!".

But they'll fail because they'll cast people on thier audience appeal and not how well they act.

My one wish in life is to find a thread that is devoted to a Star Wars topic that doesn't include "Star Wars Sucks" over and over in it.

I will probably win the lottery or get struck by lightning first :p

  3. I think it's funny that everyone is hating on this already. Reminds me of when the new Galactica was announced. That show turned out great IMO.

Personally as a huge Star Wars fan, I'm really excited about this. Looks like other writers are going to play a big part in this which means better dialogue and character development and some new ideas. George is not going to be nearly as involved with this as he was with the movies. Besides, IMO the prequels got better as they went along so I'm not too worried even if George does play a big role.

This is NOT going to be the best TV show ever, but I think it's going to be a lot better than everyone thinks. At least I hope so. :D

  4. Saw this movie a few days ago and just couldn't get into it. It was just to "kiddie" for me (which isn't a bad thing if you're a kid or parent and I know that that's what the story is about). I didn't care at all what happened to the whiney kids. I guess that's what really disppointed me is that I had a hard time developing any sort of attachment for the characters.

  5. You can't under-perform against forecasts & projections. That's like saying that the music industry has lost money when they make billions in profit!

Except the music industry doesn't put 200-400 million into producing, marketing, and releasing an album. This was Universal's widest release in number of screens ever.

$146 million worldwide in the first 5 days?? Please, I wish I underperformed to this extent.

Which is half of what they were expecting. 7 other films had a bigger opening this year, with Star Wars and Harry Potter doing twice the business. It was expected to do LotR type numbers, and its not even close.

You have to realize, they have to do 300 million+ just to break even. The budget was 200+, but throw in marketing and everything else that goes with the release, its over 300 million.

I understand that it didn't break records like they were hoping. Just wait till after Christmas though, this movie will be far into the black by then. Nowadays, anytime a movie breaks even at the box office, it's a win when you take into account the merchandising and more importantly the DVD sales. Trust me, this movie will make a lot of money, perhaps just not oodles of it.

  6. Hey, don't look now, but Kong is bombing at the box office.

    353248[/snapback]

The weekend isnt over to say that just yet. Also I think the film release planning was poor. The date falls on finals week for most schools.

As opposed to Star Wars coming out at the end of Spring Semester? By all reports Kong is under-performing at the Box Office by a good amount.

  7. Great movie, really enjoyed it. Very funny, almost too funny. I found myself laughing at moments I didn't feel like I should be laughing.....strange.

As far as killing off Wash and Book, I can't blame Joss for doing it. If there's one thing he's proven, it's that he can come up with interesting characters and I'm sure he could fill their void in the future. It's refreshing that this is a sci-fi series where not all the good guys live. I'll definetely miss their characters though.

Picked up on the fact (IMO) that Book was an operative. He knew too much about their inner workings.

I really hope that this movie does well enough for a sequel.

  8. I have to admit it looks really good.

I'm glad to see their trying to switch things up, but I don't think they should have gone post-apocolyptic.  I mean, when I think MG, I definitely don't think post-apocalyptic.

I'll probably still play it, but it just dosn't even seem like Metal Gear with an extremely old version of snake, in a post-apocalyptic world. And it scares me deeply.

I didn't think Snake in a jungle fit the series either but it turned out wonderful. I can't wait for this, it looks EPIC!

  9. I've been building models for a while now and I came across something wierd. After applying some decals, I sprayed me clearcoat (Testors) on to "seal" the decals in. Everything looked fine, I let it dry.......my clear coat turned extremely cloudy, basically white. It looks almost like I sprayed it with white paint.

The wierd part is that when I respray the model, while the clear is wet, my model looks great and the white goes away. When it drys though it comes back. Anyone have this happen before? It seems as if some sort of chemical reaction is happening. Anyways I can fix this?

  10. The 1:18 version of the batmobile made by hot wheels isn't going to come out till august.

By the way, loved the movie! It was the best superhero movie I've ever seen (IMO) and I'm a big fan of superhero movies. Can't wait to see it again.
