  1. 1300-1400 lbs car is very unlikely. It would have to be no more than the size of a Lotus Elise. Highly unlikely for a Toyota/ Subaru.

I rather Nissan just produce S15s again and sell it over here in the States. Non of that "bringing back" crap. Cars that get "brought back" like the supposed Supra, Silvia, and RX7 have nothing similar to what we know and love other than the name of the car.

I agree, though it's highly unlikely Nissan will ever bring over the S15, we can all dream can't we. I think out of Toyota, Mazda, Honda and Nissan; Nissan and Mazda are the most likely to be able to "bring back" a car faithfully. Mazda had a rough start with the RX-8 but i think if they were to bring back the RX-7 with a fully backed team (similar to Nissan and the GT-R) then i could see it easily reborn into something better/faster. Nissan could bring back the Silvia, but since they're not using their SR20DET they'd have to develop or upgrade a motor to meet emissions; as far as style, i doubt anything (released by Nissan) is going to be as beautiful as an S15, but performance will more than make up for looks.

That's not to say that Toyota and Honda can't make good cars, but they've both been out of the sports car game for awhile and plans for the new Supra and NSX have been scrapped multiple times.

  2. I still remember the anticipation of getting my license. I spent the entire summer restoring a junker 85 GT Mustang with my dad, we just had the car painted a few weeks before i got my license, it was fantastic. The maiden voyage of the car with my piece of paper license (the actual plastic didn't come for 30 days) was absolutely awesome. Of course i had driven it a bunch of times with my dad pre-license, but a post-license sans-parent cruise is always so much more enjoyable.

  3. ack, lets not go there... try to keep things somewhat on topic so the more sensitive members won't get their panties in a bunch. Speaking of panties, she's also coming out in a Johah Hex movie... never read it, come to think of it, I've never read Fathom either. I just figured it's Image's version of Aqua Man and Namor... with a chick. You know, cuz Image is original and all.

pretty much right, the only thing that set it apart was michael turner's eye candy illustrations and covers, story was never really that great.

  4. I've read about the toyota/subaru venture, supposedly it's supposed to use an EJ motor so it's like a slice between an svx and a supra which i think is a great idea. I don't recall Nissan scrapping the Silvia project, granted, i haven't heard much news about it, but last i heard they were going to use a variable compression 1.6L direct injected turbocharged motor with over 200hp. It would be a shame if Nissan ceased plans for a new Silvia, or worse, released the car strictly to Japan (again).

  5. Was going to say Dark Angel and Alias, myself.

That's what i first thought also, but at least Eliza Dushku can act a whole lot better than Jessica Alba (though that's not saying much). I also thought the first episode was predictable but it was fun to watch and kept my interest so i'll give it a few more episodes to build on the plot and the characters.

  6. I do the exact same thing, i disable the camera and printer crap at startup but leave the program on the machine because if they actually needed to plug in their camera and the kodak program didn't run, i'd be getting a phone call about how it's "broken" because their stupid program didn't run. And just like you did, i always get rid of AOL, AOL is the devil, and i don't care if they use it or not because they shouldn't use it regardless.

  7. Run your computer into safe mode and place a check mark next to the following entries

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0B014B81-4E12-46F9-806F-55867AF8FD3C} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\winsystems.dll - associated with malware

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file) - associated with malware

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file) - associated with MS Money, either MS Money is no longer working or the BHO (browser helper object) is no longer needed

O2 - BHO: Browser Address Error Redirector - {CA6319C0-31B7-401E-A518-A07C3DB8F777} - c:\windows\system32\BAE.dll - this is the browser address error redirector, it's not really necessary but it's not really helpful either, you should be able to go into the add/remove programs and remove the browser address error redirector.

O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.aol.com - doesn't necessarily need to be removed, but it will reset the start page each time to what i'd assume the OEM had set it as since it's aol.com. You can remove this since AOL sucks and it's not necessary.

O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\nwprovau.dll - this isn't necessarily bad either, but it's obsolete, it's ipx/spx support, so unless he's connecting to a netware network, you can get rid of this also. You can't get rid of this through HJT you'd have to use lspfix found here http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

other than that, it just looks like there's a crapload of stuff running at startup for no reasons specifically the AOL, Kodak, Quicktime, msn messenger, and the printer stuff can all be turned off (printer help services will run once something actually needs to be printed, they're not necessary on startup).

  8. Definitely run all of the above mentioned scans (except i use avg instead of avast which is also free but either is fine), if the scans don't get rid of what you have, at the very least they will identify what the cause is. I'm noticing more and more especially lately, that the scans will find the problem but is unable to remove it, so i'll just boot into linux (a cd boot version like puppy linux), mount the drive and delete the trouble files manually. When i fixed my sisters computer i didn't even bother scanning since i already knew what the problem was, i just used HJT to identify the specific files and then deleted them using linux, saved me a lot of time and trouble.

I also turn off all the stupid start up programs everyone has running. I mean, how many instant messaging programs do you need to start up?

I KNOW! My sister had trillian, AIM, Yahoo, and MSN messenger running at startup, frigging ridiculous. How many IM programs could you possibly use at one time?

  9. I'm always fixing computers for friends and coworkers, so i'm very familiar with the "it's a virus" or "it's broken" comments from inexperienced users. Do what Azrael said though and post a Hijackthis log, i have to warn you, some virus' detect when hijackthis.exe is running and can hide themselves from the process scan, so it's a good idea to change the execute name to something else (i usually just abbreviate it to HJT.exe) and then do the scan and post the log here. The most common virus/trojan is the vundo virus and smitfraud is still lingering around too, these two are constantly evolving so it's not uncommon for virus scans to completely miss them.

After you post the log go to msconfig and uncheck all of the startup and services that aren't necessary. If it's a slower computer to start with (in terms of hardware), make sure the paging file is appropriate and remove the wallpaper image to help you browse between windows faster, also if you have any RAM you can swap in just for the time being to get everything to fly faster, that's great too.

I just fixed my sisters computer last week and she had vundo, smitfraud, and a winsock virus and had the exact same symptoms as yours, specifically explorer.exe freezing. if you ctrl alt delete into the task manager, end process explorer.exe and then hit file>new (run), and then just type explorer.exe to restart it, it should allow you to browse back through as normal. I had to do that twice to my sisters computer before it would even give me the window boot up noise.

  10. I don't necessarily agree with nugundam's statement, however, there were several proposed challenges by car mags of turning an MR-S into a lotus killer and it was done time again with considerable cost savings. But that's a whole other bag of tricks; out of the gate, an MR-S or any Toyota for that matter won't thrill like a Lotus can, but i think the looks department is where the Lotus wins all of its points that may be lost in the performance section. And even though the Lotus isn't that fast, it's going to feel a WHOLE lot faster when you're seat is a few inches from the ground and you have the ability to turn on a dime.

  11. There were definately some aspects the show could have done with out (I'm looking at you magical plant guy powers), but I blame most of that on the writers reading robotech novels. The A.I. thing wasn't explored too much, aside from being a deus ex machina to revive a dead character by copying his memories from a black box into a clone body.

I remember that in the last season, i think the writers knew they weren't going to get a third season so they just started going nuts with over the top plots and technology. The first season was awesome, and i felt wrapped itself up really well. If this show decides to come back with a better animation company, i hope someone makes more accurate toys in the same scale with no spring-loaded parts.

  12. I just got an e-mail from Universal (I think it was from a survey i did a long time ago) that said they're going to release EXO Squad on DVD in 2009, so that's something to look forward to. I just finished downloading both seasons and started watching it last night, it's actually better than i remember (story wise) which says a lot for something from its era. The animation is inconsistent and tiresome but i remember thinking that when it came out also, i LOVED the toy line even if it wasn't completely accurate to the show.

  13. The 10k difference for most premium model cars is usually an ECU remap and brakes, but for the GXP its a bigger motor (6.2 over 6.0 with 50 more hp), brembos, LSD, tuned suspension and 19 inch wheels. You actually get your ten grand worth, but that gas guzzler tax is no fun. Of course with 10 extra grand and a GT model, you could probably get a better aftermarket LSD, better wheels, and a supercharger before you run out of money (you could probably sell the current wheels to afford better brakes too).

  14. Well, I can add +1 permanent "man points". I changed my own brake pads for the first time. (I also confirmed my front calipers are dual-piston).

Good Job man, i was going to change out the brakes on my wife's SUV last week but got lazy and had my friend do them instead (he does it for free anyway, just cost of parts) i notice that i'm much lazier with her car than mine even though hers probably deserves more attention.

Also at Trenton, love the Z's and R6, have you done anything to the Z's or are the stock? Any plans for the R6 (sprocket/chain, brakes, rear terminator, frame sliders, etc.) or keeping it stock for better resale?

  15. I think the GI Joe stuff just flies off the shelves faster than SW and TF because i went to my local Wal-Mart first thing in the morning, they had just put out a fresh case of Joe's on the pegs (about 6 pegs worth). I picked what i wanted and left, when i came back later in the afternoon to run errands with the family, there were only the usual suspects, Wild Bill, Spirit Iron Knife, and Python Patrol Troopers about 2 pegs in total. Vehicles and the newer DVD packs go really fast as well unlike the SW vehicles, I'm waiting for Wal-Mart to mark down the A-Wings because all of my local Wal-Marts still have end caps full to the brim of A-Wings.

  16. Watched this last night, it was kind of like watching someone play an entire RE game via FMV, i really liked it. Leon is bad ass in this movie and the "Tyrant" like creature in this one has a fantastic character design. There were some sketchy CGI parts, but i think it was easy to ignore in lieu of the story.

  17. The front end loses me, i love the rear, especially the tail lights. The front end just doesn't look aggressive enough, the grill is bulbous instead of hard lined like the current line up which takes a lot away from the design (since its AM's signature). The ZR-1 brake/engine duct does nothing for me, also taking away from AM's signature simplistic vented fenders and IMO brings the overall class that AM's exude down a few notches. I think if they keep the rear, harden the lines of the front end, and do something more appropriate with the ZR-1 Fenders this could be a pretty awesome car.

You should post the Rapide to show the contrast of what a real four door sports coupe should look like. I hate four door sport coupes but the rapide is the only one of this new found wave that i would own. I hate the Lambo estoque or whatever its called, and the porsche panamera looks like ass.
