Be interesting if they go so far with G1 Missing Links to get to Megatron, as it would be difficult to justify a non-Walther alt-mode going by the criteria so far, or if they went with a (originally) non-Takara mold like G1 Shockwave. I'd def go for Missing Links on both of those.

ROBOSEN Megatron !
She has that "Calgon take me away" away look, except it's Megatron.

Can't be done...
...at least, not by Hasbro. 🤨
Twelve years later, and still reigns supreme.
Yeah, this and the XTB Cosmos were the two 3P figures I HAD to own when I started getting into 3P. Not sure anything tops those.

I've got a little less to go on with their Pulsecon-exclusive, but it will supposedly be themed around the IDW Hearts of Steel miniseries.
If they go and do Shockwave, and top the Knight Morpher 3P version...ok, I just had to take a pill and sit down.

There are KOs of Valks? I mean I shouldn't be surprised, just haven't ever come across any online.
Well, KO's of Arcadia VF-1 valks. I think they are still on eBay, and some third-party retailer sites. They are sold under the Valkyrie Factory "brand".
More recently, there's another "brand" called FuGu that solicited a VF-1S (presumably from the same Arcadia KO mold) in Jetfire colors to compete with KitzConcept's "God of Flame" VF-1S that tries to attempt the same color scheme. That's garnered some added attention lately.

I got it at slightly above MSRP. This Midnight version don’t seem to have many fans, especially when the normal version have tripled in price going by Mandarake’s rates.
It wasn’t on my radar either as I’m usually not a fan of transparent toys, but Macross plastic crack kicked in strongly when the opportunity came up.
If we had both seen it, it might have been thunderdome time. Despite the pitfalls, I love me some transparent variants.

Yeah, I only cited the KOs as existing and being a potential threat, but an Arcadia 1/60 is a must have. I'm glad to own a couple.

Moreso for some valks than others, but who here remembers how long the Max+Milia premiums and the VF-4 premium sat around at HLJ with constant discounts?
I'd seen them fluctuate, but what was the lowest ever HLJ price? PF Max and Mirya with super parts are still listed there, but nowhere near this Max/Roy price right now. One might wonder if that price difference is what the PF cost is, but that's difficult to accept.

Now the long wait for Max figure, & even longer for Miriya. Both of which were promised by.. Q4 last year.
To think I had considered the metallic 1A pair with Mirya. I'd be pulling my hair out right now (not that there's much left after dealing other stresses in life). 🤪

Not doing PF on these either after the SDF news has me dumbfounded. I mean, Arcadia quality is the best at 1/60 scale, but if you don't even want people to think of considering Valkyrie Factory KOs as cheap alternatives, why not go back to the PF versions that they won't do to seal the deal?
Are the added tampos really that cost-prohibitive?

I just checked the page and Bandai changed the sales region to just Japan (Asia and US were removed as options) and it looks like you can only buy it in person at the Tamashii stores in Tokyo and Osaka.
Bastards. Seriously.
Not for making a mistake (if it even was), but taking DAYS to revert it. Opportunities were lost for some (Like LP jacking up their price since initial offer) believing they wouldn't be dealing with international shipping...or shipping at ALL stateside.
I know many of you aren't upset due to the price and the looks of this thing, but imagine Bandai doing the same with a DX TV Max, Elint, CF, etc.
Think it was a mistake, or that HG complained? Sucks either way, of course.

That VF-1J might look cool with some chrome and clear Armored Parts.
Indeed...or strike parts...or missiles.

I like it. I think it will be fun in hand.
Having said that, while we have a gun here, I don't like that we don't see missiles in fighter mode. That gives me Angel Bird vibes, and I want missiles. Hell, I want strike parts!

I’m guessing they are vintage kits just from the name Imai alone, but they look so crisp & modern.
It reminds of something I read how once upon a time the only way to have good & accurate sculpt was through kits & not toys. Nowadays that bridge is almost closed.
I'm just gonna say the obvious here. The problem, other than having to build and paint the thing, is durability. Kits are made to look pretty and not be played with, and that's not conducive to a transformable model no matter what the tolerances are (and looking at the gaps in those, they are made with room to spare to save paint stripping off).
DX and Arcadia may not be all we want or can be realized, but we can actually transform the damned things more than a few times without (usually) having to touch them up again.
Having said all that, I'd love to have a 1:48 VF-1J in a Robotech Axoid paint scheme, and that ain't happening anytime soon unless someone paints one up (ain't gonna be me with my Carpal Tunnel). 😉

They always cover themselves with "Japan Version", so it's not as easy to accuse them of gouging here...well, not to Americans. It's the Japanese version!!!!
-
Said it elsewhere, so probably should here: If anyone needs someone to try and pick up a copy for them at Tamashii NYC, I would try.
I just don't know if purchase limits will be imposed for this like they were at the Tamashii popup at Grand Central for the Max VF-0S.

The price is high, but aside from the positive playable aspects of owning him, I'd actually like this to succeed; especially if the USA availability is as it seems.

Looks like a test shot rather than an actual scheme but I'll try to get one.
Yeah, that occurred to me as well. Still, I'd own this.

It’s a glorified version of the KC version @davidwhangchoi (with overpriced worthless hollow transparent plastic and useless die cast metal parts according to one person in another Macross site). It’s it worth overspending your money on a FOMO valk for your collection?
12 minutes ago, Anasazi37 said:This could have been a production run of the long-overdue VF-1A Hayao TV, to complete the squadron. But no, we're getting something...unique instead.
Price aside, if you love the DX VF-1 design, you'd probably want this for the variant like a sofubi in a different colorway. Folks did grab Yammie repaints once upon a time, so it's not like this is unprecedented. It certainly looks better than the 30th Anniversary Arcadia.
I just hope the availability is correct, and it's successful. If that door is opened, who knows what may come.

Perhaps this being a non-canon VF-1 scheme, it is out of reach of HG...
I can't understand it otherwise so far.
I hope it doesn't change. To buy a brand new DX VF-1 in a New York City shop is the stuff of dreams.

Am I nuts or does the site say it CAN be sold in the USA, and not only that, but will be at the Tamashii store in Times Square???
I am hyperventilating here over the implications of this.

Has Massassi designed functional in-scale repair bays too? Since seeing the Revell versions of the IMAI kits when I was a kid, I wondered what they'd be like motorized too (crawler, turntable, inspection lifts, gate doors, etc.).
Be nice if CW mass-produced those too...
