  1. The AMV was pretty cool in and of itself... but the ending was just pure win. "Watch the birdie!" Oh man... just... wow. Some people just have too much time on their hands, I tell you!
  2. Oh god yes. >.< Why is it that whenever a fandom gets a really great game... it can't be perfect? I see it waaaay too often for comfort. It would've been the first versus-enabled game with teh VF-4, too... T_T
  3. Macross DYRL for... Sega Saturn, as I recall.
  4. Already checked. They're gunboats, not Nupetiez. So far, they're the only ship I know of which clearly has a particle cannon listed in its weaponry.
  5. For Anime, HD is nice because it allows you to show much more detail in long-distance shots. For example, in the newest .hack series, there are lots of scenes where characters are in the background and others are right in front of the camera. And yet, you can see just as many details on the background folk as you can when they're the subject. It introduces a whole different aspect when it comes to shooting (or in this case, drawing) a scene. I think that's pretty darn cool. Think about it--all the Valks in the massive fight scenes would have full detail... that would rock.
  6. If you have a US PS2, either find a modchip or get a swapdisc. I use the latter, works fine for me.
  7. The funniest part is that the first time I played through ACE2, I was using a fully upgraded Wing Zero Custom... so yeah, I was laughing my ass off when it raised its buster rifle against Bodolza... XD Incredibly fun game, hard to get Valkyrie tactics down... probably because I used most of the "standard" mechs before trying the Valks... Then again, Valks get nukes. 'Nuff said.
  8. The effort and energy was there--I've heard worse dubs from professional companies. However, I have to agree--the voices didn't really match up correctly. Best line: Roy, in gruff voice: "Hey there, sweet thing." XD
  9. I'm pretty sure it's Kyoto Animation's "Kanon" project that's keeping Haruhi at 14... but considering the wild popularity of the series across both shores, perhaps they'll reconsider adding onto Haruhi once the Kanon project completes. We can only hope... >.<
  10. Kyon saying, "IKIMASU!" didn't give it away? XD;; Yeah, Yuki with glasses was cooler. On the other hand, glasses or not, she still pwns hard. These last two episodes have brought me around to the Nagato side. Simply amazing.
  11. Aws, I was gonna post a topic like this but didn't think it'd be right. XP I was totally floored. I had watched the episode itself like... five times... (I'm a geek, space battles rock) before realizing that I never watched the preview for the next episode. So I skip to the end and watch... and watch... and then I hear (watchin' the raw) Haruhi go, "Watashi no Uta wo KIKE!" followed by Kyon's "BOMBAAA!" Just... wow. I love you, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. Thank you for existing. Side Note: I'm glad that there is an HD Raw for it... 'cause when I watched the "normal" raw when the episode first came out, I honestly couldn't tell what the blurred sequence was. Kinda obvious now. XP
  12. I've seen a few HD titles, not Macross... Haruhi, .hack//ROOTS and Air, that I know of, have gotten the HD treatment. Air is a BluRay launch title, and the other two are aired as HDTV. Sweet. I was gonna say that the original Macross isn't really HD... I mean, it doesn't seem like it'd benefit. I like the idea of Plus and Zero going HD, though... now there's some coolness.
  13. A note to all! Due to an unforseen Zentradi strike (tricky aliens!), Mission 1 has now begun! All new members will be rushed into active combat, so if you want to find out how the RPG runs for yourself, now's the chance! Still looking for UN Spacy and Zentradi leaders, as well! @Seto - Good to hear. Firewalls can be iffy sometimes. ^-^;
  14. It works fine on my end. The basic skin (anything not specifically Macross) was from the IPB Skin Boards. The Macross elements were done by the other admin, and are hosted by ImageShack as I recall. Imageshack's usually good about image loading, but it has hiccups occasionally. If you can find a dead image link, tell me and I'll see if I can get it replaced.
  15. http://imageshack.us is what I use. Here are the ones I enjoyed: http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/1597/11493925877094hi.jpg http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/4267/11493927725495ue.jpg http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/4650/11493927915137hd.jpg http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/5237/11493928237375xt.jpg http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/537/11493930543854ej.jpg http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/2033/11494583060521bv.jpg
  16. Originally, when I heard about Macross 7, I was put off by it. Music as a weapon? An energy source? Sillyness! But I ended up watching the whole thing anyway, and I gotta say, it's not really that bad. If you're pure to the war-worn goodness of the original Macross, it might make you gag. I can see that. But on the other hand, if you go in with an open mind, you might come out with a smile on your face instead. Dunno, just my opinion, I guess...
  17. I was assuming that Breetai wouldn't let the Macross get close enough to perform that move. ^-^;
  18. I would suppose so. Breetai's ship is larger and has more lesser (relative to main cannon on Macross) weapons than the SDF-1 does. Then again, the Macross has a barrier and Breetai's ship doesn't... though one could debate how long said barrier system would be effective for.
  19. Pioneers of War Months in the making, my RPG is now completed and looking for members! Come check us out! An overview: This RPG begins just before the first episode of the original SDF Macross series. It is open-ended, meaning that you aren't expected to do dice rolls or anything and the rules are not nearly as strict as some other online RPGs. It's the first time I've seen this play style applied to the Macross universe, so it will be interesting to see how it works out. Combat rules are detailed in the "Rules" section of the site. A very important rule to us admins is that the admins are not allowed to lead the factions. This prevents the owners of the site from up and making all fleet decisions, which over time can cause breakdowns. As such, we are looking for candidates to become the leader of either the UN Spacy or Zentradi military! It's something of a Gloval/Breetai position, but does not mean that you must sit out combat or anything--it just means that you make fleet decisions. How to approach a mission, things like that. I think that's enough talking on my part... so yeah! I'll try to answer any questions you have, and hope to see some of you join up!
  20. Macross Zero, episode one, the scene where Aries is trying to make a link between it and AFOS. Was pretty sure they said it. Could be wrong, it's been quite a while since I've watched that series, too. Should fire it up and see. *searches for scene...* Yep. Quite clearly says, in Japanese, "Tsui rakushita ASS-1 no motashita OVERTECHNOLOGY ni yotte..." as Aries's beginning of her first sentence in the entire Anime. I apologize if I made a mistake during transcribing the words around it, but the point is that she clearly calls it "ASS-1." As for the Nup... I watched the Earth Destruction scene again... and they're all Gun Destroyers splitting open. That explains that. Still have to watch the episode where they go after the Factory Satellite to see if Breetai's ship splits too.
  21. Despite the rather "interesting" ending, Zero's canon, right? ASS-1 originated there... or at least, that's where I heard it used. Thanks for the help, everybody.
  22. According to This archive, there's a "Monitor Class" version of the Nupetiet which has the splitting ship and cannon, whereas the normal version doesn't contain this weapon... that seems to be a good explanation.
  23. So it's only Breetai's ship and the ship Kamjin used in the last episodes (yes, I was referring to that one)? Hmm... grah, I might have to watch SDF over again. Thanks, everybody.
  24. In Macross II they did attach Nupie...however you spell the main Zentran battleships to Macross-like vessels, thus creating the Macross Cannon ships... which did split. I know that the SDF-1 wasn't Zentran--it was Supervision Army. But still, right in the show you saw Bodolza's fleet annihilate Earth with beam cannons, as well as Kamjin's ship fire a big beam from a split hull. It's that cannon from the split hull I'm referring to that's missing from all the specs. Gotta agree with JB0 on this one. ^-^;
  25. All right, so I'm looking over profiles on the Zentradi battleships on both the Compendium and MAHQ, and notice that neither list a "main cannon" in their weaponry loadouts. None of the ships I saw in Macross TV as having a splitting bow and a huge beam weapon had something like that in the armament. So my question is, what is this beam cannon? Is it just all of the "guided assembled beam gun systems" together at once in one direction? But if so, smaller ships which were not seen to have used a big cannon also have these weapons equipped... What's the deal?
