  1. How can something that's been around for more than a thousand years be primarily a Hollywood fad?

It's who/how it's used. Yeah if you're a really old Jewish guy who studies descreately, seeing as it is supposed to be kinda secret, yeah ok, but Madonna going "YAH I got a red ribbon I'm with it!" no.

And does anyone really like Yugi-Oh? Pretty sure it's one of those Scientologist-pyramid-scemes...

  2. I'm tellin' ya, Alan Moore said he laid a curse on the movie...don't mess with an experienced Kabbalist. ;)

How can you be experienced in a Hollywood fad? Then again looked what happened to Coolio after he tried to screw with Weird Al...

  3. I was watching Batman the other day and I stopped half way through. I could not, for the likes of me, get myself to watch the rest. Like the rest of you...I feel Nicholson's Joker pales in comparison to Ledger's Joker. I think it was because of Ledger that I simply could not watch the rest of Batman. Batman now comes across to me as hokey in comparison to The Dark Knight. Does anyone else find Batman hard to watch after having seen The Dark Knight? ...I think I've seen The Dark Knight 4...5 more times since it came out on Blu-ray. ...Such a great movie.

It's like new Bond vs. old Bond. More a sign of the times more than any one man's idea.

  4. Anybody know what's the reason for the long delay between episodes 10 and 11?

Episode 10 came out on December 12, but episode 11 is not scheduled to air until January 2, according to Wikipedia.

My son was really upset about not being able to see a new episode this week.

Shows in America (you remember that place right? ;) ) takes a couple weeks off to show holiday specials and the like. And I for one don't want to see How Jar Jar Saved Christmas. And that would be odd as baby Jesus didn't show up THAT long ago and certainly not in any other galaxy.

  5. I think the idea of tying Home into game achievements is a good idea. I'm sure it would take some work to get the developers on board, but having a cool 3D model of a trophy would be pretty cool to place in my virtual pad.

I could care less about the trophies. The thing that I wanted out of Home was a way to setup matches of PS3 online-capable games. Some are pretty spotty. I'd like to know what other people play and join up with them instead of hoping to run into them in the game or hoping they're playing mine at the time sucks. I would like to start my gaming-day in Home and see what people want to do, then we can hit it off.

  6. I heard a rumor they were coming up with some kind of software solution/download/upgrade for the gimped PS3's to play PS2 games, any news on that? I grabbed a 60 gig right when they knoced $100 off the price. The only thing I regret is that it puts out more heat than those newer models, aside from that I love it.

That rumor has been tossed around alot, never seen a sign of it coming true.

  7. Looks like they are pulling a Casino Royale with the first home video release of The Dark Knight. They got a 2-disc DVD edition that has crap for extras and a 3-disc Blu-Ray edition that is an embarrassment to call 3-disc with the lame features they are describing. Even The Digital Bits says that the Blu-Ray edition gives one the impression that a true special edition set is coming somewhere later down the line.

Compared to the impressive (though commentary-less) Batman Begins release, this "special edition" release of The Dark Knight is a real disappointment, just in time for Christmas. Perhaps that's the point; this is likely a rushed version made to hit the shelves in time for the holiday. And they know that the major portion of the audience for The Dark Knight wants their 2-disc special editions on home video, so they're gonna try to fool us :)

I'm going to check out the stores tonight to see if they have a single disc version and I'll likely pick that one up until they feel it fit to release a multi-disc edition worthy of a major movie event like The Dark Knight.

Interesting. That makes me happy knowing my roomate bought the bullet and got it for DVD. Now I really am happy to wait.

  8. Man, PS3 is getting its ass kicked in sales lately. They really need to do a price-drop because Home definitely isn't going to sell systems, and the fact that 1) it has a built in Blu-Ray player, and 2) you don't have to pay to play online, hasn't seemed to sink in with consumers that this thing is actually a pretty good deal.

    Oh well.

Well I've been hearing people buying them up during these sales. I do like the Wii but I wish it had a hard drive or you could add one. The PS3 has made me see how important those are going to be.

  9. I am disappointed in the way that Lucas TOTALLY wimped out on Jar Jar. Sure most people hated the character (me included) and I think that it was pretty clear that Lucas wanted him to play a big role in both the second and third prequel films.

    But no.

Lucas panics at negative fan reaction to the character and winds back Jar Jar's input to virtual cameo's in both films. Now if I was Lucas (and many would be happy that I am not), my response would have been to give Jar Jar an even BIGGER role in the second and third films, I would have had every second and third words out of all the characters mouths being JAR JAR and when his character was not onscreen everybody would be wondering where he was.

I would have had Jar Jar turning to the darkside in Revenge of the Sith, killing Anakin Skywalker AND Obi Wan, then tripping over Artoo and falling into the lava. He then could have been rescued by the Emperor who would have been unable to tell what this lump of flesh was and the climax of the film would have been Jar Jar becoming Darth Vader.

To hell with continuity and screw the diehard fans.

My point is, I think that Lucas compromised himself badly with what he did to this character. I think that once any writer, producer or filmmaker listens to what fans want too much they will always start to produce crap.

I think I will go and lie down now.

Aren't you trying to hard to parody a bad episode of Mad TV?
