  1. So I just built up my 31S. Gotta say glue is an absolute must. Tamiya Extra-Thin worked really well and will prevent a lot of rage when pieces of your 31 just keep popping...off...everywhere.

So glad Extra-Thin worked. Was hoping not to have to use anything heavier than that.

BTW, just got a payment request at HLJ for the Super Pack set for the VF-31J. :) I think I'll hold off completing this build till I have the super pack kit in hand.

  2. Anyone know what's next for plamax. I ordered the minmay and the ranka but I'm hoping for a Sheryl too!

Hi. Its Sheryl (at least I hope since she was announced) I have the Plamax Minmay in the Private Warehouse at HLJ waiting for a few more things before shipping. Also preordered Ranka. From the pictures and reviews they look very good for being snap together model kits even without paint they seem very decent. Ideally a dab of paint here and there does help though. I actually like that they went with Ranka's style from the movies, helps her not look like a total child when placed beside Minmay and Sheryl.

--- I will add that mock kits of PLAMAX Delta Walkure characters have been shown while none have been shown for Sheryl.. yet.. Fingers crossed we get Sheryl first but with the Walkure merchandise money making machine at full steam, maybe they push those out first. Hopefully not.

  3. Its been so long. Looking at it from a financial perspective at this point if a 4th movie is made, wouldn't it rack up less cash than it would have otherwise done had it been released closer to the 3rd movie? I know hardcore fans and everyone that is a fan is hooked and waiting for a 4th, but at some point the whole "playing the waiting game to build hype" starts to work in reverse doesnt it?

  4. meh!

    one-cour, two-cour, schmour!

it ain't a valid excuse at all. try not to use it as some sort of an explanation of the fail.

iirc, SDF-TV had a more precarious series-survivability (13 to 26 to 48 to 36 or whatever), yet it kept the series moar interesting and moar epic despite and in spite of the tv-stations and producers' capricious episode-counts whims.

Don't get me wrong, I do not see it as an excuse for a second, this is completely unacceptable any way you look at it.. It just has been mentioned so much as the reason why it went the way it did.

In the end DELTA to me, exists pretty much just for a Walkure merchandise ad. That's what I have to look at it now as and nothing more.

The correct translation is that Delta was given a 26-episode run during the scripting-stage of Episode 4, not the production-stage of episode 4. That means they had much more time to actually plan out the story.

Ok thanks. Does anyone know if the writing team changed midway? Or are credits the same all the way thru? Because while I wasn't a complete fan of delta prior to 13, I was ok with it. After that, it just spiraled out of control as if a different team took over for writing.

  5. I know, but I can't believe he "abandoned" the ship and left it unsupervised. The staff is steering the ship right into the cliffs!!

Well there are now conflicting reports about Delta not having been originally planned for two cour (full 26 episodes).. It serves to give an explanation of why it all went downhill but had this been confirmed as true or false? Some are now saying it was always meant to be 26 episodes.

With that said, even if he "jumped ship" he had to have at least seen the script and given a green light on it or something? The thing here is just how much of a creative command he has on the series? Is it full unadulterated "its my way or the highway" or is it at a consultant level. Either way doesn't bode well for his title as Mr. Macross guy. This is a big crap stain that will forever stay on his shirt.

  6. Graham isn't saying Kawamori doesn't know how to supervise a staff. He's saying he jumped ship when his next project was announced and all the Delta staff was left to their own devices.

And I will say this again. This show WILL end next week (we'll get to a movie when that happens). How they present that ending to us will be the big question. Will it be a crammed mecha-love fest or will it be just a mess. Looking back on the other TV series, 7 and Frontier both had 2-parter series finales. SDFM had a building-toward-a-finale ending (as in there wasn't much more left to do between episode 35 and 36). The info dumping episode, AGAIN, right before the finale, ruins the pacing as we are approaching our ending.

Frontier did not have movie finales. The two movies were a re-imagining of the events told in the series with a different ending so I wouldn't say they can be tied to the series' universe in any way. However I would say that if they do this for Delta the story will have to be very very different to reach an acceptable level of storytelling and pace.

Sad thing is that Frontier was enjoyable as a series for the most part (at least for me), and so the movies didn't feel like they existed to fix a wrong to me. Just felt like additional frontier content in an alternate universe. So ultimately I found both mediums to be enjoyable. That wont be the case with Delta.

  7. wow. the writing and pacing is horrible. How are they going to wrap this up in 20mins. Haha. I just dont see how you can hope to cover everything unless you add another season.. and hopefully that doesn't happen cause if its more of this blablablabla it will be just as awful.

So that Private merchant guy always appears to dump lots of info for the main group and the viewer for like the 5th time......twice in this episode? that is so crappy.

  8. They have always made more units than the initial preorder numbers , or stores just preorder more so they can sell some after release. Either way you should be able to get it for around msrp after release .

They will not continue making and restocking it once all the numbers are sold out , it will be label discontinue at HLJ. So you will need to look and be on stand by to buy it when it becomes available since you are not the only looking for it.

Ok I'll be on the lookout thanks. At least it sounds like it wont be mission impossible.

  9. It's bandai so dunno. They reissued star wars vader and Bruce Lee. They also reissued dx valks but only a couple.

NY used to sell more at increasing prices. Ami ami hobby search hlj sometimes carries a few more units at release date. I think it's cuz some people cancel or those companies cancel multiple orders for limit 1.

It's a good line mainly for the Zentraedi and destroid mechs. The valks are fun toys

Thanks. So I did jump on the preorder for the mass production type VF-1A at HLJ, seems it was the last one or close to the last one, its now on order stop. Like a minute after I ordered. Its going to be my first mass production "anything" on my macross collection, but the price seemed decent enough at 6,120.

I have my figinstock alert setup for the Max use version, fingers crossed one becomes available.

  10. Having missed out on the preorder at HLJ, Is there a probability of the Max use to be available for purchase after its officially released(not thru resellers that jack up the price), as in they will continue making more units than the initial preorder Been interested in this line for a while but have never actually bought one.

  11. My swag haul.

    Will start building today.

Gonna start with Mirage first, as a test build as that's the one I care least about if I mess up anything.

Damn that haul, but thats the only way to get you all 3 independent modes of each other. Seems a shame to cannibalize two kits for Gerwalk but.... It just looks soooo good.

  12. Nice comparison, thanks for posting! I have a bunch of the F-toys I picked up in Japan a few years ago and I haven't even opened them yet. I think I'm going to have to do that tonight, they actually don't look all that bad!

I wonder if I can panel line the F-Toys without fukking it up too badly.......

Yes you can panel line the F-Toys. The lines are just deep enough for it to be possible. I did and I suck at it haha. Turned out great. They have a surprising amount of detail for the "initial price" when they were originally sold and have aged well.

  13. a cool figure indeed! but there's something not right about his face.. doesn't look quite Hikaru enough!?

If it wasn't for what he's wearing, I wouldn't be able to tell that's Hikaru.

  14. ^ This. This so much. Did the writers forget that those were a thing. They're literally in the enemy's motherland, surrounded by all sides with no way to get back home. EX-Gears would have at least helped them evade capture longer.

The writers themselves have long forgotten this is a Macross show. This could pretty well have been "generic anime x of the season" if you took out the VFs. And I mean there's so little of them onscreen that it really wouldn't be that hard. Haha.

    - A restored VF-22 piloted by MCs father.. lol... so cliche'd its not even funny. Watch Hayate save the day in a badly CGI animated VF-22.
