  1. I always said that these movies would spell the end of the TF toy line producing any kind of quality toys.

IMO the first two movies robot designs made the toy engineers wake up try new things. They were out of their comfort zone and had to step up. The evolution from movie one toys to movie two toys was incredible. ROTF Leader Prime and the HA line were the pinnacle of that. What they learned certainly shows in the designs for the non movie lines that came. The TF Animated and the first releases of TF Prime were very satisfying to transform. They did new things and refined and made fun the tedious transformations of the alternators line.

Of course, the excuse to dumb down the designs (which they have actually been doing for a time already) has more to do with saving costs. $60 for that shell former is a lot of money into the bank for Hasbro.

And my main beef: WFT is up with so few paint apps???? That has zero to do with making the toys kid friendly; that is just being frakking cheap. That Optimus does not look half as painted as the box drawing of him looks. That really pissed me off as a little kid, specially with my Ninja Turtles (had to paint and mod them myself lol).

Make the toy as simple as you want, but at least spend some money making all those stupid little details have the colors they should!!

  2. Was really wondering why HG was being such a good sport. I have a friend who works in post production and has directed a bunch of short films, all paid right out of his pocket. He got permission to adapt a story by a famous mangaka as a short. But what stated out as a great opportunity has turned into a pain in the ass. He wasn't allowed to crowdfund crap and he is full of restrictions when it comes to actually getting permission to show the finished piece Certainly not on youtube.

  4. Yep, more money for 3P.

Hasbro has to cater to their bread and butter and I get that Leader ROTF Optimus is not a little kids toy, but I too felt like a lot of the TF toys I had as a kid were really simple. Didn't like my BB that much because of that. The stuff they made recently was very simple and kid friendly already.

But this bit of text of the article is just horrible:

The toys’ streamlined transformations also address the need for instant gratification sought by children today, she said.

My god, before the tagline for TF toys was that they helped think outside the box and promote imagination and motor skills; but now its just the next quick crack high??

  5. I remember a rumor about UT being involved with KOs of classics seekers. Anyways, they are maturing fast. Their next project after they finish their Blaster could be really interesting.

UT could also do a recolor of Maniaking. FT has done more than one version of Quakewave and now they are saying that for this year they plan “3 main release and 4 repaint”. A big goal but they believe in a market for 3P repaints.

I really like the sculpt on Maniaking minus the cannon. A MP size would have won me over… but there also the heavy rumor of a Takara MP Galvatron next year.

  6. The first time I saw it I had t keep a chart on who's who...

That would have been handy a few months ago. Reading the manga at first was supper hard because the art style made some of the characters look alike. I even got two of them mixed up in a very important moment that made me scratch my head for a time until I got it right.

BTW, looks like the Figma line has struck gold and Max Factory wants to mine every onze  .

  7. The question I have is:

Striker Eureka has 6 anti-Kaiju missiles that if it can get off basically spell the end of any Kaiju. Why the hell aren't there anti-Kaiju missiles batteries all around the pacific rim and on destroyers and whatnot? It would have made the wall a much more viable option.

Because Eureka would not have its own gimmick then like the other jaegers have and because you go see Pacific Rim to see giant robots solving world problems punching them in the face of course!!

For a not giant robot based defense we already have boring real life with its automatic sentry guns like that one they plan to use in the South Korea border with the North.

  8. To talk about something happier: yes, there are diecast figures planned

These are the guys making diecast heavy Iran-man suits in 1/4, 1/6 (directly competing with Hot Toys) and 1/12 scales as well as that diecast Jim Lee style Batman.

  9. If I'm gonna pay 3rd party prices for pirated Intellectual Property it better be damn near perfect.

The more crap that comes out from these 3P companies the more I get tired of them getting passes for

Doing it half hearted, this used to be for the fans, now it's soley for profit and Chinese manufacturing.

20$ sure, 50$ nope, 80$ seriously, frakk off.

    Totally agree.

As for David, the man knows what he likes and I envy him for having such clear convictions. I would not have such an eye clutter of a collection if I had had his resolve. Plus you can learn things (I have learned a lot about colors and to respect color composition from him actually)… that said, wouldn't it be funny if he was actually color blind and was just trolling people :p:D:lol:
