  1. Well when I did my apartment, I just hit up Lowes and bought some film for the windows. It comes in a roll. You have to basically cut it to a size that is just a little larger than your window, spray it as well as your window with this cleaner spray, and place it on the window. You then use an razor blade to slice off the excess. It takes some patience, but is manageable after you have done a few panes. I am not sure if this is going to work for a display case. The adhesive side is pretty reflective on the one I picked up - but then I bought it for UV protection as well as keeping the heat out in the summer and in in the winter. There were quite a few different types of film. You could probably hit up your local hardware place and talk to them about it if your research for UV protection starts looking expensive. (Not that this stuff is cheap...but if you buy freakin' Valkyries......come on.)
  2. <Everyone runs off to check on their 1/60 Hikaru> Yeah I put some UV film on all of my windows at home, plus I have my display case away from direct sunlight. And even then, the blinds are closed over in that area. There are quite a few things you can do to be cautious, but eventually you reach the line that divides paranoia and acceptance. At this point, you can either continue to protect your item (which will take away from your enjoyment), accept the fact that it is going to yellow over time, OR decide to get out of collecting anything with white plastic, period. (That's not directed at anyone here - it's just a general p.o.v.)
  3. Hey all. Do many of you have the Queadlunn hunk-o-mecha in your collection? What do you think of it? Have any idea if they are going to release it in a green (TV style) paint scheme? For that matter, is the one from DYRL the same as the one in the TV show. They look the same to me....but then I haven't seen DYRL & the thing is always crashing through buildings are flying in zig-zags in the air in the TV series. Is the detail pretty good? (Always different to have something in person than to have to see pictures on the net - but by all means, share pictures!) Do you consider it a must have? (Red or Blue? I would say probably Red, wouldn't you?)
  4. "Actually Minmay, you and I weren't meant for each other anyway" (Man...I think I really dig those sculpted Valk hands more than the articulated ones.)
  5. Looks like little to no yellowing. Stickers are there. No box, but - I'd say nice shape a fair price. and the $10 shipping seems right. I got mine just yesterday and it the package had like $13.85 for the shipping cost. Mine came with the box, but the dimensions would probably be about the same & it doesn't add much weight. A great addition (a must have, imho) to any Macross/Robotech collection. Congrats!
  6. Heh. Right after I posted, I got an e-mail from them. They are going to track it for me and get back to me. Whew!
  7. I won a VF-1J Miria from a seller popsalute back on the 14th of April, but still haven't received it. Gosh! It has all that cool stuff plus those extra hands. I wish it would get here. Congrats on your VF-1A, valkyrie312. That's awesome. (wish they didn't cost so much!)
  8. And here's a little joke. (I have stickers for these three guys, they just aren't applied)
  9. Hey everyone. Well - it happened. I received the VF-1S Skull 1 in the mail the other day from the Valk exchange. Incidentally, I received a Masterpiece Roy on the same. Outside of a Jetfire, I hadn't owned an official Valk until they both arrived. Wow. It was really hard to look at the Masterpiece without my eyes leaving it for the Yamato. Such a big difference. Some of the overlooked subtleties of the Masterpiece are downright nailed by the Yamato. An example of this can be found in the Fighter mode. Look at each from the side - The Masterpiece has screams of joints and transformation mechanics while the Yamato looks like...well...a plane. Very nice. Transformation was kinda hard. I didn't expect it to be so complex "behind the scenes" if you will. All the little tabs that had to fit here and there. I am still not sure if the heat shield and front chest piece were supposed to "snap down" in the final part of the transformation to Battroid. In any case - he is standing up with gun in hand and looks great. Wish I had a fastpack though. Ahh well. I struggled to get the rings around the gunpod. Unfortunately, I snapped one. So I ended up removing the strap from the gunpod & it feels incomplete. It isn't a big sculpted item...perhaps I can find a replacement item somewhere. In any case - it looks great. I imagine that you gain transformation experience on the guy as time goes on? Ha. I'm a transformer collector & don't remember something giving me that much trouble. I want to put the stickers on, but I have to get it back into fighter mode first, so it might be awhile. SDF-1 Arrived today. I received about 7 destroids about two weeks ago. The collection is starting to shape up. Thanks to all those who have responded to my PMs. This place has been very helpful and I enjoy the friendliness of the Valkyrie Community.
  10. I disagree. I think the characters are pretty good. I wish that they had released the Minmay in the Chinese dress, but it never happened. I only own the Lisa and Rick (those names are easier to type - ha), but they are probably the best "3D" Macross figures available to date. Wouldn't mind if more figures (be they large scale or small scale) were made, though. I haven't really seen a 15th anni valk out of the package, so I can't comment on that. Hey wait, Renato - did you mean the little figures that came with the 15th anni valks? I was referring to the 1/6 scale ARII 15th anni character figures.
  11. Hey all - First post. I have to say that I felt this incredible pull just hit me all of the sudden shortly after I took some time to check out some pictures of the Valkyries of the current era. The pull was "gotta get some" - and the first one is on the way. What an expensive hobby! I collect Generation 1 Transformers, so I am used to big spending....but there are only a handful that either reach or past the cost of some of the Valks. I am sure this cost issue will be thrown aside as soon as I see my first Valkyrie in person. (And in my own hands I might add) Anyway, my question is this (as stated in the topic) - Are there plans to produce a 1/48 VF-1D? If there is one already out there, I am unaware of it. I am just now learning about the different versions of the VF-1S (crooked skull, different seats, etc). In any case - there is something about the "Training Valkyrie" that sets it apart. I have no idea what. Maybe it is the paint scheme and the two pilot cockpit? No idea. Input is appreciated. Thanks a bunch
