yeah just some advice... vista is a beta... ie. not fully tested and not very good. There's also a reason why they delayed the release of it lol... i hear ya, microsoft irritates me too. ;D!
-
forum won't let me attatch .swf's but if you want to see the animation just leave your e-mail here and i'll send it to ya

starting a CG i see, don't leave me out
i'd give you the ortho's i used but mwf is being a homo and won't let me attatch =.=
I've been away from the forums for a long time, but if anyone wants to see the transformation animation of my valk <=== see avatar... which i never actually showed to you guys, gimme an e-mail
master.wongster@gmail.com
its a .swf file (flash)
hmm this is interesting, my thread is still alive LOL!

it will also be made avail. later on my site, that i'm working on... featuring my valk of course
your stuff is looking good but, I would fix that nasty cockpit UV lol... are you aiming for a certain polycount?
-
poly count?

I have already posted the link for the fighter - gerwalk. Its done, but the fully rendered with all effects is going to be up on my website later. Right now its just a quick render with no reflections ... etc.

anyway. I gave the plane a nosejob lol.

planning on modelling this next, unless there are other popular requests 0.o
anyway any Reference images would be nice. I'm looking for something that'll go nicely along with my VF-1S in a fight scene.

alright I fixed the rig and moved the gun around. I won't post another render until tomorrow... I have to redo the entire animation =.=.
Heres some other ones I found on gVideo though, they're not the greatest in quality but they work
these guys didn't bother to make sure that there were no collisions during the transformation... or at least cover them up with the camera angle

hmmm needless to say I think i screwed up somewhere.
until i get the darn thing done right future renders will all be done in quick shade mode... that is to say without full effects, reflections, smoothing etc.

alright, rig is almost complete. I'm in the process of animating. My first scene (the transformation) is done... however its taking a really long time to render so I won't release it for another week.

this thread must not die

Thanks for the words of kindness. I'm interested in these freebee projects as well as professional ones. I am out there to make some bucks
I'm running my own business from home at the moment, I do web consulting (webpage designing). Often getting a job for a little while is just so I can learn a few things. It doesn't mean I have to stay for long. I put the model togetter pretty fast and I'm working on the texturing. Modelling is my favourite department and probably the only one I'm familiar with. I'm searching for some assistance with animation at the moment . I'm familiar with the macromedia (excuse me.. ADOBE seeing as the bought them out... darn buggers) Flash MX and previous versions. I understand animation from a 2d point of view, but i still have much to learn in terms of 3d animation. Its like when you pick up your first piece of 3d modelling software and it drives you nuts just because you have 3 viewports and everything has to be in the right place otherwise your object will look funny. In other words it takes some getting used to. But be sure to watch out for a pretty pro animation. I'll send the segments as they get finished.

I haven't decided whether i'm going toi release the model or not. I'm almost done the low poly version for games etc. That one I'll release for sure. It would depend on what you wanted to use the model for anyway :S.
Though I would think that having a physical wooden version of my model would be pretty damn cool. I've done some stuff on AutoCad at school actually, but I don't know that much. Most of the time for our assignments when we have to use the automated router I just convert the .lwo's to auto cad. Its more efficient anyways.
-
ANYONE
-
ahhh somebody give me some fastpack scans?
-
how would you propose to convert them? I can give the objects to you in lightwave object files (.lwo) or .3ds files. :S Perhaps you can convert them to the necessary format from there?
-
if you guys could send me schematics for the fast packs maybe I'll "decide" to do them
-
alright... What files are compatable...
Do I have to animate the transformation? or can you do that?
how will I have to setup the model so that you can easily move the joints and other things?
what is the full title of this game and where can I get a hold of it?
is there a limit to the polys I can have? What is a reasonable poly count for realtime rendering.
I"ve always wanted to make a game of my own I wanna see the interface and the engine perhaps before I start so I can get a good feel for it. Maybe later we can even sell the rights to the mod... I dunno. Aside from macross battlecry, there hasn't been a GOOD macross game out there in a long while.
-
man thats a jaw dropper
I admire the detail
One little thing about the model though... Besides the fact that your cockpit is AMAZINGLY detailed and the leg joints a soooooooooo much better than mine... I think that the contour of the nose is a bit... well off. Unless of course you meant it to be that way. The nose and cockpit section sort of looks like its a really big egg. Its missing that funny curve at the bottom that makes it look interesting... plus the nose tip is slightly angled.
-
i don't have the game.
what experience do you have?
and if you can manage it I can do voices and i'll do a low poly version of my VF-1S
-
yeah in my previous renderings the tail fins were slanted.... I just had to put them that way so I can do the UV's. I'll do another fighter mode render with the slanted vertical fins when I finish the rigging for the transformation. Its almost done, but i'm still working out the darn bugs (joint restrictions and stuff). Anyway, when I'm done I'll post a link to the transformation video. OMG its going to take so long to render =.=
ah well, iI've got a bunch of comps I can stick together and maybe i'll borrow my friends since his graphics card is crazy good.
