Thanks!  There's going to be a few more of my ships coming in this season (look for the Macross stuff I've snuck into the designs😜)

Looks like others are liking this design as well!

TrekYards is also covering your design William. They really like it too.👍 They are confused by the designation as a Crossfield class, though. Did you have any input into that?

Looking at the site photos, I may have been a little unfair to the X-Wing based on the initial shot.  I think there are still some oddball proportions going on, but this one does look like it tries to duplicate some of the details that none of the other versions have tried so far, especially on the greeblie panels.

    75355_alt2.png?format=webply&fit=bounds&quality=75&width=1200&height=1200&dpr=1

The proportions here don't look bad as a base to work with.  I think we really just need a 5-stud diameter engine.  The canopy needs a replacement though, and I think the nose would be helped a lot if it tapered more, probably down to a 3-stud width nosecone, which I think would be entirely possible with those curved bricks they used.  It's just too flat and wide.  I'm also hoping the wing mechanism isn't too insanely over-engineered so I can reduce the gap between the wings.

I do love the fact that they replicated so many of the markings with colored plates though, instead of printed panels.

The engines are just a little too big but manageable to me. Much better than the grossly undersized ones on the previous UCS set. My main gripe is the nose looks so fat. If you can figure out how to slim that up please share. 🙂

  3. I was able to preorder the SSD at LEGO.com months ago somehow. When they first put it on the site they must have messed up and had it for preorder instead of coming soon, so I had that on order for a while now. Looking forward to seeing what the UCS Venator will look like later this year. Hope it scales well with the UCS Star Destroyer.

Well that was about as painless as I could have hoped for, was able to login, grab the new X-Wing and logout in about 10 minutes.  Been a long time since I saw the LEGO Shop site working that smoothly.

Would have actually kind of liked to get two of them honestly, just for the selection of parts, but maybe I can do that later. :p

Grabbed one this morning too. No muss no fuss.

  5. Ok so I went back and watched the battle scenes. Yes SD takes out some of the fleet and there is some debris floating around, but that beauty shot of Enterprise and Titan make it look as though there are no other ships around and show ALOT of wrecked ships adrift. Far more then are shown earlier.  I’ll just chalk it up we didn’t see everything that happened or that scenes perspective just happened to show the majority of the “oppositions” losses. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That the USS Titan-A got renamed Enterprise is probably one of the things about the finale I like the least.  The Titan was instrumental in saving the day, renaming her feels pretty disrespectful to her legacy (esp. considering she was named in honor of another very influential ship).

Agreed, like I posted earlier….I wish it was just another Connie III coming on line instead.

Alright, that was pretty good. I liked it for the most part, despite it's flaws. I think the finale could have been about 10 or 15 min longer, to give some more time to the battle and to lengthen out the resolution, as it did feel a little quick to me. It wasn't as good as Episodes 6-8, but it was a nice finish.

Some things it didn't need was Jack being in full Borg-costume. Their tech was supposed to have evolved, so he should have looked just like the others, though maybe with completely black eyes the whole time.

The Borg Queen looked good though, for the most part. Sometimes when she moved you could the prosthetic lower half being more defined, but she looked creepy. Like some undead reverent, which I guess is a good description. Way to go Admiral Janeway! They did the voice pretty good to and it was nice getting Alice Krieg back for that.

Nice seeing the Titan finally letting loose with all her guns too. And they said she didn't have it in her! Would have liked to have seen more though. And have a better way of escaping the Formation protocol. Line of sight? They are an advanced race with access to subspace technology, and they relied on LOS?! Personally, I would have just said that something with the cloaking device was interfering with the protocol and left it at that. No other Star Fleet ship had cloak so that could explain why she was the only one to break loose.

Cool seeing the Big D in action one last time before being parked at the Museum! Very Star Wars-esq turning and burning through the Death S-  Borg Cube... Not bad though. In the end, I don't mind it. I SQUEEED!

One thing I would change would be to not have Jack joining Star Fleet. For one thing, as noted before, there are a lot criminal records there to get through. Though I guess Star Fleet could have ignored that in order to get another recruit to fill the ranks. And I think it would have been more original to have him not don the uniform. He didn't seem too enamored with it to start with.

As to his placing as 'counselor to the captain,' Seven is the Captain and it's her decision. Also, very cool that seven is the Captain and of the Enterprise-G!

That I liked!* When they were coming upon the Titan, I was half fearing she was going to be renamed USS Picard! (Don't worry, I'm sure there will be a new Titan. Maybe a Luna class...?)

Also a good scene with Tuvok.

*That does raise the question, just how long are starships supposed to last? The Enterprise-F couldn't have been twenty years old and they were already decommissioning her? Unless there was something very wrong with the ship itself, that is a short life-span! For that reason, I prefer to think that Enterprise-J just didn't survive the fight. She got blowed up while trying to take out Spacedock. Problem solved!

And I had been considering buying another Horner Shipyards Neo-Constitution class, and seeing her wearing the name Enterprise cinched it! A gallant name for a gallant ship! Ordered!

I am going to do the same with Horner’s, but don’t see the option for the E-G yet. Yesterdays update said it will be an option in a few days.

  8. Overall I really liked it. I personally didn’t care for watching the D zip through the Cubes interior. That is ALOT of empty space in there then.🤷🏻‍♂️

As for the ships, naming, decommissioning, etc. well it’s not unheard of for relatively new/newer ships to be decommissioned and mothballed early. Happens pretty often actually. Perhaps the Odyssey class had issues or Star Fleet decided that the flexibility of smaller ships like the Connie III class would be able to be manufactured faster to fill in the gaps in the fleet. Now I would’ve preferred the Titan remaining the Titan and the Enterprise G just being another Connie III being commissioned, as the fleet obviously has suffered both in ships and personnel. Not only older officers being executed by the assimilated youngsters but I wouldn’t be surprised if many of those youngsters resigned due to trauma. So 7 getting command makes enough sense to me as does Jack being accelerated through his training.

  9. To be completely fair and objective regarding the dimly lit bridges, it is not like many…if not most Star Fleet ships were dimly lit if not down right utilitarian even in the “heyday” of TNG.

Even the shared parts of the Nebula class. Remember when Data took command of the USS Sutherland?

    In his Command chair

Looking at the tiny view screen:

    Voyager was pretty dim too:

    C521F5AA-5E79-4412-BD90-C7FD116AB5C6.webp.39d6311f99cf2b61f4ec2bb9261e709b.webp

    as was the Ambassador class:

Now I do like the more brightly lit bridge of the D but I think we may be forgetting what even our beloved TNG era has already clearly demonstrated. Honestly the Galaxy class seemed to be the aberration and not the standard. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They all did have carpeting though. 😎

  10. So I’m still very confused as to what Vadic and her crew/ mercenaries are. I know the are some for of changed Changlings but is she just the tortured founder that ended up modified or is she combined with the scientist that tortured her? I ask because in this episode Riker asked one of her crew “how much of that goo did they make you swallow” or something to that effect, and in her flashback what was happening to the scientist was a little vague and it looked like she was sort of being transformed or something.  Also if there were only nine of them how are there SOOOO many of them now? 4 were killed on the Titan alone BEFORE the boarding action (the transporter chief and the 4 that Jack Jason Bourned) yet they are all through Star fleet and then her crew as well. Did I miss something or has this just not been explained yet as the big baddie has not yet been revealed. It just seems as though Vadic and her crew/type hasn’t really been explained. I’m a little concerned they won‘t be.🤷🏻‍♂️

  11. Episode 8 was ok for me as well. This whole Titan taken over storyline was just meh for me. Too many plot conveniences for me that made me more annoyed by things then invested in them. They aren’t bad episodes but I’m glad it has been wrapped up.

A reviewer that loves this season did say that it feels like there isn’t enough story for 10 episodes and that the season does feel a bit drawn out. I would definitely agree with that.  These season long stories do get a bit old when things keep getting drawn out until the end. DS9 had a good balance of serialized story telling along with stand-alone episodes I think. When we are in just one story and the answers keep getting pushed further and further away it can be taxing on the viewer. We know nothing will be answered or solved until the end of the season and it leaves one feeling hopeless in the interim. At least for me it does.   I hear episode 9 has a lot of answers finally so we shall see.
