  1. That's a very similar product to Copic's airbrush system that also uses markers - I bought the starter set a few years ago .

I was skepticle of it at first but was quite impressed the moment I used it. You don't get the level of detail you can get out of a traditional airbrush system, but having nothing to clean up is well worth the trade off. That said, I don't know how it good it would be on plastics though as I've only ever used mine on paper and canvas.

I think I've read everyone's opinion about this matter. And not just in this forum. It's basically everywhere where KO stuff is being discussed. But here's a thought though. Most opinions I've read are all consumer-based. And that matters because I'm a consumer too. Now I'm more interested to hear from people who actually an innovator and hear what they say towards this copycats. I'm sure if I were an inventor, an innovator, a copyright holder, for sure in the end I'm going to be pissed if I found out someone is copying something that I have copyright with and they're selling it half the price.

But it is what it is.

I can't really even explain the feeling other than it just totally sucks to see your idea taken and not just having money made off it, but becoming a whole sub-segment of a market unto itself.

A few years ago I made a very simple DJ related device that I thought I'd share on a DJ specific forum. I was quite surprised to see the enthusiasm for it and was even told by one of the members that I should consider taking down the pictures as "who knows what vultures may lie". I gave it a quick thought and promptly heeded his advise. However, it was in vain as within a year suspiciously similar products started popping up on the internet.

Can I prove that my idea was stolen? No, but you can't convince me otherwise. I was naive at the time and only have myself to blame so I've since been much more selective with what I post about my inventions / ideas which really is a shame because it would be great to get feedback on them. So why not apply for a patent on them you may ask? 'Cause they're damn expensive to acquire and even more expensive to defend. There's an old quote I read somewhere that went "Your patent is only as good as your pockets are deep", and my pockets are unfortunately rather shallow lol :(.

With all that said  though, I'm not sure where I stand on the original matter; there are good arguments made for both sides. All I know is official Arcadia products are well out of my range and if the KO's are reasonably priced, I may have to jump on one.   Perhaps if Harmony Gold  / Big West were a little less iron-fisted with their IP's, we'd be getting original Macross related / inspired designs ala 3rd party TF's instead of straight up knock offs.

  3. Thanks no3ljm,

It wasn't my intention to turn this thread into a b-fest about pre-order madness. It was just a simple observation that I thought contributed to it.

    Once again, my apologies.

  4. Let me reiterate my second post: I do not want one. I am only talking on behalf of those that do but can't obtain one simply because of these purchasing practices whether it be by scalpers or otherwise. You have to admit the numbers add up rather quickly.

I wouldn't have guessed being mindful of my fellow members would be a bad thing.

  5. It's a race against time, my friend. I know and I understand what you mean. But to tell you the truth, this is the only preorder madness that lasted for an hour or two. Most PO madness on big releases just ends in less than a minute and most of us here complains a lot since we get cart jacked or always get webpage refresh errors only to find out that it's already been sold out. And I really mean LESS than a MINUTE. Everyone here can confirm this. ;)

And it's not the MWF members fault. All the online shops that put the Regult have a limit of 3 per customers whereas the other big releases just get 1 per customer. So if the customers/members from every forum wants and afford to get 3, then it's his right to get 3. And it's better that this went to 'sold out' since there's a big chance based on demands that more will be available soon and from there we will know if they will release the other Regult variants. And besides it's still not the end of the world, HLJ and Anime-Export is still not posting theirs, so you still have a big chance to score one. :) Just my 2 cents.

    +1. This is SUPER TRUE.

    +1

I know about the scalper issue and kept that in mind in my original post which is why I stated that members had the "potential" to snag one.

You do have a point though, in that it's better that it sold out quick to possibly ensure added stock later and to give Bandai incentive to continue with enemy mech.

Sorry to stir the pot, it's been a long time since I've been in "collector mode" so I no longer have the same mindset I suppose.

FTR: I don't even want a Regult. They do look nice, however just a little pricey imo.

  6. I got 3 at Ami, going to bed. GL guys!

    Scored a few at Ami.

    Preordered 3 at Amiami.

I got 3 from AmiAmi, and I'm out!

    got ma 2!

Finally able to sign in/check out. Also scored a 3 pack. Ready for a Glaug now!

    Scored 3 at AmiAmi!

3 from Amiami, 3 from CD Japan. Think I'm good now. :)

I'm gonna wait on HLJ to score a few more I think ;)

OK, I folded and got another 3 from CDJ. I had so much time to press place order it's almost weird feeling :D

    And with that good night!

Just randomly woke up to go to the bathroom. Ordered 3x. now going back to bed...

And you guys wonder why there's pe-order madness?

Maybe I'm off base for saying this, but maybe have a little consideration for your fellow MW members that want one. That's 32 Regults between just 9 members. If you had just bought only one each, that would have left 23 for other members to potentially snap up.

This is how you do it if you want multiples:

I picked one up at CDJ for now. Will probably pick up number two later if pre-orders are still available or (more realistically) around release day.

  7. /\/\/\/\

 That's hilarious. The head doesn't have to be removed for transformation. I'm not sure if i like it but it sure is clever.

  8. I was ready to dog on these but...you know what? These are vastly improved with the changes they made. If they can work on the headsculpts some more, we may be talkin...

They are definitely looking a lot better than when I first saw them too. The 1-S head isn't too bad but the 1-J needs a bit of work. At least the visor is painted though! Very interested in these.

  9. Whoa! I'm dying to see the finished result of the "tank" - can't remember his name. I used to have him as a kid and he had the most simple transformation of any Gobot / Tranformer I had ever seen. You just folded him in half and you had a tank. The original One-Step changer.

I remember going with my father to this store called Comsumers Distributing. If you're not familiar with this store, it was rather unorthodox as it worked like an order desk - you look through their catologe, fill out a form for the item(s) you want and bring it to the desk. Then the staff goes to the back warehouse and brings you the item. I wanted Leader One, but they didn't have him in stock so they gave me a substitute, the tank guy. I had never felt such disapointment in my life.
