1. Hey... I'm new, so go easy on me.

I'll admit upfront I'm actually a Robotech freak, and I only just saw DYRL for the first time. :p Shame shame, I know.

But anyway, does anyone know if Yamato is planning on re-issuing the Max VF-1J? I can find Milia *cough* Miria *cough* on places like eBay, but I can't find Max. Was he more popular? I'm loving that blue color, I know that.

It'd be great if someone could let me know if I could ever get my hands on one.

BTW - I just got my first 1/48 a few weeks ago. It was a VF-1A Cannon Fodder. Pretty good, my only beef is that the cockpit control board was glued in crooked to the point that the cockpit wouldn't close correctly. Plus I can't figure out how to get the backpack to stay up in Battroid *cough* Battloid *cough* mode. I think I transformed it wrong.

Hey man! Welcome to Macross World.

I too am a Robotech fan. It brought me into this fantastic world...and although I am a fan, as an adult, I tend to be drawn into Macross a whole lot more. But, I am not a Robotech hater. I love Robotech. But Macross, Macross is my crack.

You had trouble with your "back pack" staying up too, eh? I think I know what the issue is with the fast packs, and why you can't get them to stay up in batroid, er battleoid mode.

It's really a simple solution. When I first got my 1/48, I was afraid of it! Seriously, at that time, it was the most expensive toy I had ever owned. I was afraid to apply pressure of any kind. To press on any part, to do anything! And, the directions didn't help me either, they are not the best. I mean, I don't read Japanese, (although I can speak a little) but the images made some of the "little details" difficult to process. Yamato makes the best toys out there, no doubt, but their photographers and graphic artists are less then desired. They do not do the toy any justice, and yeah. The whold directions thing. I mean, all you have to do islook at the "artwork" for the 1/48 boxes. They're okay, but they can be so much better. It is a minimal gripe, cause like I said, there has never been a toy as amazing as the 1/48.

I got derailed. Let's get back to your Valk's "backpack" problem.

Transform *cough* your valk into battleoid (battroid) mode. Look at the back. The piece that closes shut against the top center of the back (that the "back pack" sets against) can be "pushed in." It does not just rest there, like in the Toynami so called Masterpiece veritechs, or the 1/55 Bandais. This may sound confusing, so I took some pictures to help you out. See pic one.

It may not look like it, but it can and will push in. See Pic 2. It's designed to. It will snap into place.

As I said earlier, 1/55 versions did not "push in". But this piece is designed to. Once it's pushed in, press the "back pack" up against it. There is a little "hook" like device that swings over, and *SNAPS* over the top of the backpack. This will hold the backpack in place. See pic 3, 4 & 5.

Now, the super / strike parts will fit in without "falling" over. See pic 6.

I am no photographer, but I do hope these pictures and directions help out a bit!

Oh, and this is my custom 1S Low Vis. No where near being done, but a great visual to accompany my demonstration.

I hope this helps! PM me if you need anything else!

    -Bryan Davis

EDIT: WOW! When I added the pics, they got all re arranged below! Damn it. I do not know how to fix that. Here are the pics in the order they are suppose to be:

The order they appear in Macross world:

    PICTURES:

    MACROSS

    WORLD ORDER......REAL ORDER

    PIC 1....................2

    PIC 2....................1

    PIC 3....................6

    PIC 4....................5

    PIC 5....................3

    PIC 6....................4

That's messed up man. Hope this helps. Sorry its a confusing mess.

  2. Love the Gerwalk on the VF-1 and the VF-0. The VF-11 is also fine. With the rest of them I just don't see it so elegant (VF-17 is just ugly).

It's such a useful configuration that even if it ain't aesthetic it can save the pilots bacon more than once.

    383392

    Word.

BEN DIXON RULES. (two stabs, just three words).

Okay, I'm running, I'm running. (to the shelter)

  3. I hate GERWALK.

    It's too hard to say.

    383246

You can always say 'GUARDIAN' mode...

**runs for macross city bomb shelter**

    383258

LOL. You are one brave man, indeed.

The Guardian, er, Gerwalk, would be, in the real world, one of the most practical modes. I think most of the VF's look pretty cool in any mode. Except for the FireValyrie. That battleoid, er, battleoid head is absurd. It's so bad, that, even when you can't see the head (in fighter/gerwalk modes), it still makes the 19 look bad. (The blazer valkyrie is SWEETNESS!).

For what it's worth, those are my thoughts. Now, excuse me while I join you know who in the Macross City Bomb shelter.

    RUN!

  4. I do remember a shop selling the limited chrome versions, that is if you are interested in them!

Also, just got to make sure it is the 17D and not the 17S that they have!

    381265

    VALK009:

As usual man, you are on top of things. Thank you for the lead. Acutally, at this time, I am looking for the non-chrome versions.

I do apprecaite it! Way to be! Macross World just rocks. It's the DYRL of the net.

And you, VALK009, are the Max Genuis!

    SNAP!

  5. My Macross 7 set is almost complete!

This just so happens to be my favorite piece from the series, and is the only one I need.

Anyone have a 17D Bandai Stealth Valk they want to sell or trade?

    Items for trade:

Yamato MINT IN THE BOX Valkyrie stand. 100 percent new, mint, complete!

Yamato 1:48 Low Visability (Original), near mint, one corner w/slight ding (box only)

Yamato VF-19 Game version (box only)

Original 1986 Battlepod (box only, x2)

Officer's Battle Pod (you guessed it, box only)

I am opening a new electronics store, so I am not free as I would like...please allow me a day or two or three to get back to you sometimes. Or, call me at the Big Toy Electronics store: (323) 286-8124.

    Thanks!

    -Bryan Davis

  6. Took me ages to find my 19S at a decent price.  They don't pop up often at all unfortunately, especially by themselves.  I think I got mine last year for 60 or 70 bucks, which I considered cheap for it.

400 for the set is an awful lot, definitely not work that much.

    381207

I know! I emailed the guy selling them, and he told me "It was a good deal." Uh, how about NO!

Anyhow, to follow up, it never sold. He relisted it twice, and it never sold.

    That was a big shocker!

    But...

I just got a near complete set from saverobotech! He is my hero. All I need is the 17D. Anyone have an extra they want to part with?????

    :D

  7. The Bandai 1/100 officer's pod is pretty good. It's posability is a little limited, but it looks sharp when completed, IMHO.

    380313

I agree, the models do look pretty good. The 1/100 kit can also be found for a pretty reasonable price on Ebay because it was reissued not that long ago. If you want the 1/72, be prepared to pay $100+. The Matchbox toys are on Ebay quite often, but if you're going to display it next to a Yammie, it would be like the Mona Lisa next to a stick figure. The Yammies are more of a work of art, and the old Matchbox pods are "toys". Still, they are the only large zentraedi toys on the market thus far....

    380342

I tried to get together with my friend, who makes toys, about 2 years ago or so. I wanted to make a series of 1:48 scale Battlepods. The Matchbox versions are the biggest, about 1:60 scale. My vision was to have the Battlepod include a full scale removeable pilot. The Battlepod I think was a good 6 inches taller than the valkyrie in battroid mode. It was HUGE. But damn, it would have been cool. I will try again to get that toy line going...of course, it depends on my current business doing well, me having the free time, me having the money (creating toys is super expensive), and hoping no one comes after me for copyright infringement.

Right now, I have my Matchbox battlepods next to my 1:48 Yamato Valks...and it does not fit...the Yammies are too detailed and poseable compared to the the Matchbox toys.

    *sigh*

Maybe I can get that toy off the ground someday.

  8. I loved DYRL. It was mindblowing, both when I was a child and as an adult! The series still moves me too. But, I think the TV show was a more compelling than DYRL. Do you remember love, as amazing as it is, feels like a Readers Digest Condensed version of the TV show, which I guess was the point, but it did not have the impact or depth the TV series had. The anmimation however, is the best I have ever seen. I have stills all over my office, and as much as people make fun of me for loving it so much, they all appreciate the intricate artwork.

What introduced me to the Genere, however, was Robotech. I have read many fans on this site bash it, and a few who stand for it. Let me say, that for what it was, and the ammount of time Carl Macek and crew had to pull that series together, it too is a testimate of all that is propitious. Robotech will always have a place in my heart, being the first series that I was introduced to. Heck, I find myself still referring to Macross characters by their Robotech names. Robotech is still fun for me as an adult. But as I am getting older, I find myself drawn more to the origial Macross saga over its American counterpart.

Macross has more milage than Robotech too. Sure, Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles is due out on the 32nd of this month, but Macross has so many spin offs...and rightfully so. The universe can be endless, there is so much material to explore. Macross TV, DYRL, Flashback, Macross II, Macross II the movie, Macross Plus, Macross Plus the Movie, Macross 7, Macross 7 the movie, Macross 7 Dynamite, Macross 0...(did I forget one?)...

I dug Macross Plus and prequel Zero too, although they did not have the same impact or feel as the original. I have not seen Flashback or Macross 7 yet, but I fully intent to when time permits. But, when I do have time, i find myself addicted to these message boards like crack.

Looking back, I remember I had a VHS bootleg of DYRL. I watched it so much, I actually wore out the tape! Man, I feel like kid again just thinking about it.

    I love Macross so much!

I know you will love DYRL too. Enjoy it! Watch it over and over again. They say it is impossible to wear out a DVD like I did the old VHS tapes, but damn it, I am going to try. :p

  9. I found a good price for it here:

    http://www.discountanimedvd.com/detail.asp?dvdno=220

    Only $9.95

    377560

That's a great link! I would pay 10 bucks for that! I've never seen Flashback or Macross 7! Can you believe it? For someone who loves the 17 so much...I've heard bad things about Macross 7, and amazing things about Flashback...too bad Flashback wasn't more than an overglorified music video. The VF-4 is one of the most original mecha designs I've ever seen.

    SNAP!

  10. The VF-4 is an amazing piece of technology and design, but I don't think it would be very functional without the arm...

Although I read that the 17 would be the most acceptable to damage if it lost and arm, and I would have to agree. I think the 4 would be effected, but not as much as the 17.

Damn I love the 17. And the 4. I wish Yamato would come out with a perfect varible VF-4. That would be the coolest toy next to the 1:48 1 series.

    *sigh*

  11. Its not Minmay, but its fun to think that it could be...

By the way, I love Transformers: the movie. It was pretty damn cool listening to the chime of disgruntled adults groan at the 2 swear words and the death of all the iconic heroes. Anyone else remember seeing it in the theater? Man, I feel old all of a sudden.

    SNAP!

  12. That cannon is the very one I am looking for!

CHOWSER, you put the PRO in PROpitioius!

    Thanks again man....

TO EVERYONE ELSE WHO STILL IS INTERESTED....

    I STILL WANT YOUR CANNON.

PM me if you want some extra $$$$.

    -Bryan Davis

  13. Just when I thought my wallet can take a breather for the GBP, then comes 2 new 1/48 from Yamato. Sigh ... time to save up again ....

    379716

    You can say that again...

I was just about to complete my 1:48 collection...

But, I am very happy there are new macross toys coming out. I feel sad for fans of WHEELED WARRIORS. Nothing new in 20 years. :(

(I was being a bit sarcastic...BTW) MOral is, it is a GREAT TIME to be a MACROSS FAN!
