  1. No he isn't, but neither are you... :p

Opinions aren't they a grant concept!

OK this isn't a hollywood movie, it's a weekly TV show and in Japan the director's reputation is hinged on the final product. Likely, much like Lucas, he has the CG animators get his "approval" of their work "before" spending time and money on actually animating anything. It's just good business sense. Granted the detail work went on the hero models, but the others would have been approved before hand including how much detail would be required on them.

Speaking of those who should do they're homework. Nearly 50% of the Prequel movies were driven not by Lucas, but by the artists he employed. RoTS was 95% driven by the artwork given to Lucas. Only the final works were "ok'ed". However your statement on this is absolutely and completely void of any merit. You can say one thing doesn't work that way and then directly state that it does as a rebuttal.

What has meaning to you is irrelevant to this discussion.

Nice attack. "My opinions better than your's!" God talk about childish... Sure it does as most of this is IMO talk anyways, and if you look through out your post it's as full of "if's" as mine was! ^_^

Those who've done the homework will understand what I am saying.

Oh I completely understand what you've said. But that doesn't matter because they are both valid sources of material, so claiming that either is right or wrong is about as silly and meaningless as it gets.

  2. Chronos hates Heroes as is evident if you read every single one of his posts in this thread. I wouldn't believe it especially since the NBC sponsored Heroes forum's are still going strong and the weekly Heroes graphic novels are still being released on www.nbc.com/Heroes. Nice try spreading some FUD with nothing to back it up.

Actually they stated at the time they canceled the show they were going to continue it as an internet property. Hell they told everyone at the shows end that it would continue online. But then again this is your thread so you'll defend it regardless how it is.

  3. VF5SS, if it's not anime I don't even view it as part of any universe even if the creator grandfathers it in later. The creator can STFU for all I care. I'm not such a blind fanboy that the creator "is always right".

Doubtful, since SK is Supervising Director, thus has final say in all the animation, including mecha and character designs.

Having final say and actually making chances during the building process are two different things. SK probably said "Build these designs in 3D." and gave them his and Miyatake's design books/concept art and walked away. Then didn't see them again until the animation sequences were set-up and by then it would be too late to make changes without hurting the schedule in some way. He probably only worried over the "hero" vehicles and let the rest ride which would explain just why the old designs have some truly horrible crap just stuck on them.

As for M7's animation being screwy.... Since I never compared the current stuffs scale to anything other than the static concept art the argument is meaningless to me.

  4. No, actually the bridge is the same, but the flight deck looks like it's been extended, even with the odd angle in the line art. In the line art the bridge is quite large in comparison to the rest of the ship.

It is possible that the Frontier Uraga is showing the "proper" scale of the carrier compared to Mac 7's animation.

No. It's becoming apparent that the designs should be considered re-imaginations of the original designs. It's evident that the model builders didn't get much of any C&C on their work from 'the big head'.

And since this is becoming a "merged universe" for all Macross material (games included, gods what a clusterfart!) that it should stand as being a separate universe from SDF:M & M7's universe. (i sight Enterprise vs Star Trek continuity)

  5. Anybody happen to know some place where I can find images of the ships from Banner/Crest Of The Stars

I can get you CoTS, but only in a limited number. Because there are VERY few shots that show the entire ship due to their severe view angles or quickness of the shot. Also there doesn't seem to be an art book out there for the mechanicals only the characters.

Have you looked up Detonator Orgun? It also has similar ships, as does Voices of a Distant Star. And don't forget about Dirty Pair or Cannon God Exaxxion.

  6. 4Chan's /m/.

    /thread/

Seriously there is always a anime spaceship post in there. But even then Google with a "Anime Spaceship" search description will net you hundreds of images.

LoGH!, GunBuster, Tenchi Muyo, Trigun, The World of Narue, Star Blazers, Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, and etc. But sadly you won't find very much along the lines of the Mospeada style.

  7. Does anyone know when they are goin to put Heros back on or if they are even gonna do it? I was pokin around ther other day but didnt see anything about when it was coming back on.

They officially canceled it months ago. It'll be a minor miracle if it sees a 3rd season because season 2 was so horrible.

We'll be lucky if there are any shows on next fall as well because the writers and studios are fighting over Digital rights (the studios don't have to pay the writers or anyone else a penny in compensation).

  8. Tonight's episode...kind of a turd..it was more like Law and Order SVU(which I like). More set up, nothing really happened. I know every episode can't be balls out but.. zzz

Yeah it is fairly boring. Can't 'enjoy' the characters because the actors just feel "fake" and their lines forced.

baronv, can't say that I remotely like the change in Johns character from ep1 to ep3. It's pretty badly forced and his knowledge is pretty advanced for someone who's been on the move his entire life. It definitely feels like the writers/director/producer wants to make him into a RAMBO clone. <_<

  9. It's not really his fault either, i mean, hollywood has been feeding us garbage for so long it's hard to forget to *look* for depth when the movie isn't spelling it out.

That is sooo true that it's disgusting!

The audience has been literally trained by the vacuous nature of the last 10+ years of story telling that it's not surprising at all that some people don't think a movie doesn't have any "depth" because it's not flat-out explained to them from multiple viewpoints. Sadly this directly effects movies that are told from the old single viewpoint because not only do the writers not know how to write for it, but the audiences feel confused that they didn't get a "complete" story and few actors know how to act it out.

  10. Am I the only one who thinks the military responded quite mildly to the threat? Sure, they had some tanks and soldiers trying to machine gun the monster, but I was expecting like 20 Apaches around that thing like hornets. F-22's, Napalm... the works...

Maybe Darpa's teleports were down for repairs!?!? ^_^

  11. Pros : Its a PROPER MOVIE MONSTER! Yes, no Namby Pamby 'Zilla (that wimpy lizard from the Hollywood 'Godzilla') who gets punked by a couple of missiles. This bad 'mofo gets clobbered by rifles, AT weapons, tank cannons and the USAF but keeps on mowing!

The ONLY reason I want to see this! Big arse monster terrorizing a city with humans in it. It's been YEARS since HW had a remotely decent monster movie that didn't give away "the magic moment" or "the big reveal" during it's teasers.

  12. I am utterly alone :-(

    No your not.

Every non-SDF related show after SDFM fails a little more each time. But that's usually what happens with sequels due to them merely showing the updated technology's (technology demo's) and lack of a solid & cohesive character driven story element. It's not uncommon as we see it in every SF franchise show.

  13. Melodramatic trash,....

Agreed. It's garbage. The first 45 minutes were boring rehash and the last 15 minutes were general WTF'ery that has turned it into a freaking extremely lame arse time-travel show, because now if they don't always use the BFG9000 to kill off the Terminator's you can only go "Huh? What? Why don't they just build another one? Or send back a fat Terminator with a BFG in it's guts?".

It completely took me by surprise when I found out that Mother was getting married and has been turned into a creepy son loving Shota-con. And people think the 3rd movie was junk.... Well this is what happens when you get a clueless fanboy writer/director/producer thinking they know best.

I'm seeing this tank just as fast as "Drive" did.

  14. None of those.

    63 years. 2071.

Because I've got some graves to water and some old arses to laugh at. B)) That is IF humanity survives the next 63 years and doesn't turn the planet into a radioactive mutant playground... <_<

But after reading "Tomorrow and Tomorrow" I'm to scared to travel any deeper....

  15. I'm also starting to think that designations are arbitrary... M-7 was supposed to be the 37th emmigration fleet, but the seventh New Macross class combo, hence the "07" number painted all over Battle 7. Thus, it MIGHT be that M-25 is the 25th New Macross class combo, BUT the ship joined (and took over) the 11th/25th emmigration fleet as the flagship sometime after they left Earth. For all we know, some others may be correct in that the fleet was a collection of the Island modules that were subsequently attached to M-25 when it showed up.

    In fact, it may have been launched with an old Megaroad;

I'm glad that you've brought up the Megaroad because it 'fixs' some of the confuse with fleet numbering.

The Megaroads were launched thus starting the Emmigration fleet numbers. So what we are not counting are the Megaroad numbers.

(i'm just throwing numbers down here for concept basis aka 'thinking out loud')

Emigration fleets 1-11 were Megaroads 1-11.

Emigration fleets 12-27 were Macross class City ships 1-15

That doesn't work though. So I'm inclined to believe that while the 1st Megaroads were launched, the 1st New Macross ships were also being built and launched. So you get a mixed launch scheme. Also there also probably was lag time in building the various ships of the fleets causing the carriers to be built well ahead of their time for a complete Emigration fleet to be launched.

Either that OR, like an increasing amount of the new show, it's been retconned.
