Tamiya paints are widely available again. Its just taking time for them to trickle back in.
As for brushing tamiya. Try cutting it with a little windex or other ammoniated window cleaner. Windex and tamiya are weird. I have had dried tamiya that wont be removed by anything come right off like tempra paint and water with windex. So if you screw up a tamiya acryl paint job dont worry . Rub it with windex and start over! I use mostly tamiya for my work unless i need a somewhat specific color. Tamiya color range is still quite limited in some areas.
My main gripe with Model Master acrylics is they are like spray on liquid latex. They can clog up an airbrush needle very fast. Also their colors seem to be a shade or 2 lighter than whats really needed. I do have a supply of MM acryl colors. Mostly RLM and WW2 colors for Ma.K builds and some other odds and ends.
MM Enamel is still a fine paint and has been for some time. However alot of the more modern painting and weathering process now use chemicals that will make enamels run like water and turn into a mess no matter how well you seal them.

more like 4 or 5 days if you show up on wed or thurs...Sadly i will not be going AGAIN. Went once in 07 and havent been able to make it back. Life wont take its foot out of my arse for a second it sems...

Aces seats share the same frame so theres no structural difference. Its the way the ejection rails in the aircraft are.
-
Id say none. The VF-1 seat in teh kit is pretty decent if a little simple. Only the earlier resin VF-1s had better seats but good luck finding one. Id agree with scratch making one or detailing up the supplied kit part to more match what you see.

One of our forum members currently has the LV and the launch arm masters in his posession. These are recasts.

dont forget about the 1/72 resin one

Dave yes i have tried it on my own VF-25 build. Its on these forums somewhere. In a permanently stalled state at the moment. My results were pretty good. I used GW purple ink in future for my attempt so i know that works.
-
Any other "ink" should work just as well. Heck even food coloring.
-
Mix a drop or 2 of games workshop purple ink into a jar of future. Dip the canopy until the purple s to your satisfaction.
I just feel the need to post this:
With all the struggles I had trying to get a nice transparent purple VF-25 canopy, Bandai now seems to do a "clear purple" mini-sprue every other month now...
(I just came across a post on a Gundam blog where someone was trying to mix clear red and clear blue to get clear purple--and they of course found out that doesn't work, so I was reminded of it again)

Ahhh crap....I'm really sorry, i just plain forgot about them....I am going to the post office on Tues or Wed...will send them out then.
mike
No worries really man. I just didnt want you to forget. I can see you have been busy with more important things. Im just sorry i wint be able to support this effort like i did with the monster. A roof over the head and food on the table are more important. Keep it up though someone has to master all this goodness.

Where are the monster decals..?

Yeah im going to stop watching this thread now. Its just personal punishment for me right now.

Just like the old NIN song says..."Something i can never have..."

If any of you have ever been in the pit of an F-16 or later modern fighter that fit is about right. Im 6ft1 and i had trouble in the 16. its a damn tiny space. Problem is plastic figures clothing cant flatten and shift to fit around the hard objects in a cockpit. When you sculpt your figutre mike be sure to take into that factor into account.
-
Right now if i sell something it will be to keep my truck going or to pay some bills not to buy a hunk of resin to sit on the shelf.
Thank god i have a stash of models to subsist on until things get better.

Brass tube for the landing gear construction with resin detail bits that slide over and glue on to it. Dont cast it in place on the brass since that would make cleanup a right bastard. Or better yet aluminum tube for the strut core. that way you can just polish it up for the exposed compression area.
On a side note. As much as id love to have one of these beasties i honestly would never be able to justify the cost. I dont have the liquid funds to afford it like i did in the USAF...
-
What?...just because i have one of 2 flyable SV-51s...
Havent flown the bloody thing in a year, just no time...

Where are the decals.....
Just kidding. Id still like them for my monster rebuild here but seeing what you are doing here makes it worth it. You really need to go 1/9 scale and fiberglass. That way one could put some RC gas turbines in it.
-
Very nice uparmored Hummer. Im doing something very similar to my 1/6 scale one. If you want more uparmored goodness Bronco models just released a new tool 1/35 M-1114 uparmored hmmwv. Blows away tamiyas new hummer from just a few years ago.

Robb, why did i imagine you stamping your feet, turning circles and flailing your hands when i read that...

I built the Rex from scratch, it's about 4 inches tall.
The kit is available at starship modeler again!
