  1. Alternate color schemes? I'm fairly positive that is a certainty. They have to amortize all that tooling and all; just look at all the YF-29s to get an idea where this is going... I hope.

I would certainly hope so too but like the VF-25 range for example having multiple characters piloting the type ie Alto, Ozma, Luca, Michael etc, does the YF-30 have any additional characters to justify additional repaints? I guess cannon fodder colors and alternate prototype paints like the YF-19 Double Nuts & Bird of Prey are more likely or easier to pull off for Bandai if they chose to yes??

To apologize in advance if this has already been covered and.. I haven't played the Macross 30 game at all either so I wouldn't know any further details regarding the or any story line behind Macross 30 or the YF-30..

  2. hehe! yep that's me! They are actually one of my preferred paint scheme VF-1 variants! And I can display one in each configuration!

I wish I could afford to do that with more of em.. but that ain't gonna happen.. at least if I want to maintain a healthy relationship with my misses! :p

  3. I have noticed a few people showing off their Ikea Detolf display cabinets so I thought I'd share mine too! Although I am using the Ikea Klingsbo display cabinets which have 5 wider and deeper shelves.

My only complaint is the vertical steel framework which could have been made a little thinner and still been plenty strong enough.. But they are quite cheap and great to display some of my cars and bikes also!

Im looking at buying a few more of these cabinets to display more stuff and thin out some of the Macross stuff rather than having them all cramped together..

I'd really like to spread out my VF-1 collection across two cabinets and separate the Frontier and Seven & Plus stuff the same way.

  4. Transformers... (shudders..) awful things..

Of course no disrespects to anyone on this site who collects them its just that even after all these years you'd think they would have advanced the design so they actually look half decent in either transformation mode..

I don't think there is one particular TF that transforms as well as a VF-1 or any Valkyrie for that matter..

  5. if its just DX chogokin level i'll be disappointed. as far as i'm concerned, there isn't one dx chogokin better than a V2 VF-1. the overuse of metal on metal ball joints that get loose sitting on a shelf doing nothing is stupid and annoying...no matter how sweet the rest of the valk is. The V2 VF-1s are pleasantly tight and a joy to handle. i' think i'd get one if they made it....but i can't help but know i'll be disappointed. i'm also suspect of how bandai views the proportions of the VF-1. The recent 1/72s with their giant heads and the fairly recent hi metal 1/100 series with its tiny feet.

I have to agree, even if the heads do sit higher than compared to the anime and line art, they are overall the best proportioned transformable VF-1 version available. And yes they are a joy to handle! Given how Bandai put their DX range together Id have to say that a DX VF-1 just wouldn't have the same visual and physical presence a "super sized, super detail" Yamato v2 / Arcadia VF-1 would have..

  6. Well I caved also and pre-ordered a YF-30 from cdJapan..

I was gonna buy two of em so I could display one in fighter and one in battroid but I'm pretty much pressed for space atm and still want to buy and fit in a YF-25.. also don't want to upset the wife with too many toy purchases.. I'll just display one in fighter mode which I prefer..

Anyone know anywhere that is still accepting pre-orders for the YF-25??

  7. if they go with articulated hands, I want them to actually match the DYRL? line art:

    vf-1-dyrl-hands.gif

Indeed faithful to the line art, this would have to be a must! The hands the 1/48 and 1/60 lines have aren't very good or accurate..

Even if they offered a large scale Valkyrie in kit form version then it could keep the cost down a bit and the builder could option any paint color scheme they wanted.. I haven't actually built a model / assembly kit in ages so I would happily up to the challenge!

  8. Those manipulators came with every MG kit released from 2013 on. They are awesome. I havenĀ“t try them yet on a valk, but they are roughly the same size of 1/60. I actually think you can buy them separately, as spare parts.

oooh! if they are indeed available to buy and scale up well with the 1/60 yamyams then it might prove interesting giving it a whirl! Time for me to go look! ;)

  9. Been collecting the Variable Fighter Master File series and couldn't find volume 2 of the VF-1 books anywhere.. at least at a reasonable price..

There have been a few on ebay at over $100 including a couple of them at around the $200 price point which is absolutely absurd.. how they can justify asking that much for them regardless of condition is beyond me..

Then.. by sheer chance as I was aimlessly wandering the Mandarake site I found this at 2200 yen! Although listed as "average" condition, 99% of stuff on I have purchased on Mandarake has always pretty good so fingers crossed its condition is close to my other books I already have..

  10. heck its could be 1/32 then fully articulated hands and fingers would be awesome too! then no need to swap out hands for different poses! The limited articulation of the 1/60 hands both Yamato & Bandai are ok but in a bigger scale it could be heaps better!

Just doing a quick little sketch of it for a rough idea im sure it wouldn't be impossible..

  11. I used to live with a typical valley girl (not a romantic situation, she was just a roommate). She used to refer to my toys as "Robotrons". "Whatcha, doin'? Playin' with your Robotrons?" It was kind of fun. For all the wine that got drunk I was pretty fortunate not to lose any Robotrons.

    hahaha!! Robotrons.. Hilarious! :D

They really didn't say anything. It was their body language and the look they exchanged that said it all. What pissed me off is that I endure all their BS sports talk and all their activities every time we have to spend family time, they could've been more considerate of my interests.

What annoys me is that im often picked on :( due to my complete lack of interest in rugby, cricket, horse racing, etc.. as im mostly a motorsport and collectibles kinda person.. only to find out that those hard core sports fans who pick on me cos of my interests have odd ball collections or hobbies of their own but NO not allowed to pick on or make fun of their stuff.. I mean who cares if anyone likes to collect porcelain cows, stuffed animals, old coke bottles & bar runners..

Gee I hope they don't ever find this post! They'll surely know who im pointing out.. :p

  12. Allergic reaction to people calling my Yamatos Robotech.... lol. It happens everytime.

Yep know the feeling.. My cousin (who does know better) continuously refers to my Macross stuff as Robotech and or says something stupid like Macross was originally based on or copied Robotech.. I don't actually have anything Robotech anyways.. He never had very much Robotech or Macross stuff to begin with and what he did have he got rid of in favour for his love of Transformers (pass).. Most others who see my stuff either don't know what it is or correct themselves mid flight rather than call it Robotech..

  13. was just doing a little browsing through the history of sold items on Mandarake only to find a few things that went for prices that would churn any stomach especially considering what they demand now days..

    here's to mention a few.. :(
