I dare you to show the Macross Special to kids these days. And not a compressed youtube video (even worse a grain scrubbed and DNRed version) on a laptop screen or a phone - On a proper display with a proper source. No, you don't have to have a large screen CRT and LD player like me, you just have to show the show somewhat like it was actually seen at the time and I think kids will see the humanistic charm in it - I've seen some of today's "cartoons" for kids and they are soulless monstrosities of flat CGI/cell shaded whatever with perfect homogenous smoothness and they are THE WORST. It's not hard for something with as much soul as Macross to compete. Don't assume kids won't get it, don't underestimate their potential appreciation of something HUMAN.
I've never heard of a Macross LD with subtitles besides Macross Plus International Version with hard subs in Japanese. I assume this isn't a Japanese release. I'd love to see the cover.

IIRC I missed the first release and got the second which was 3 slip cases containing 3 episodes apiece.
I don't go looking for them but I keep my eyes open and I've never seen colored cases so I'd bet that's a custom job.

I read this and I wonder if they made it past the first disc.
They get better as you go. I'm not sure but maybe that's because when they made each episode back then they got better at what they were doing. This was a pretty innovative release at the time and it took about 2 years to get to Episode 5. I remember waiting for each to come out and watching them unsubbed after getting them from unofficial sources a day or so after. The anticipation!!!
I watched it on my 4K TV using an Oppo BD player.
Overall this is an excellent improvement over what has been released previously.

I do not. I'm thinking it isn't part of the VF or the armor since I can't find matching plastic on either. I doubt just one tiny piece would be a completely different plastic.
Just one of those pieces you save and wait until you find the toy it belongs to I guess. Thanks for the help everyone.

I know that there is an English translation out there for the Dougram game that they made and I think it's essentially the same game as at least one of these.

I'm sharing "The Men Who Made Macross" with English subtitles soon. After that there will be a Spanish version based off of English subs. I hope it will be freely available in as many languages as possible.
This TV only release is different than what's on the blu ray.
Fan made and strictly for private use no profit.
I'm just putting the finishing touches on it.

The promotional pamphlet for Southern Cross and Galvion mentions where they went and why they came back. They went to Phi Eridani, and returned once the nuclear winter on Glorie started to lift because conditions on Phi were not optimal for the transplanted lifeforms from Glorie. (It also talks about what a complete dump Glorie is, and how humanity ruined Earth so conclusively that the planet is incapable of supporting life.)

I don't know for sure but I assume/hope the next release will have even further updated/corrected subs as the Movie Edition was updated and corrected when it came to US theaters.
