  1. i wasn't speaking of just the mods, i'm talking about everyone on this planet.

nothing said on the intenet should really be taken personally. sometimes people take it personal but in reality, the people who talk crap are usually complete strangers that really have no effect on your life. much like multiple jennifer aniston threads really didn't do anything to ruin anyones life here....though i can't say it wouldn't be annoying.

as a wise man once said to me when it comes to posting on a messageboard....why do you even care?

since then, posting on a messageboard has been more fun and less retarded.

  2. if he created that many accounts just to hang here, i'd say he likes this place, and probably more so than the majority of the membership. the guy has always been amped in his posts, PMs and in real life(from those who have met him).

granted he broke the rules but at the end of the day, this is a toy/anime forum, why so serious? if he was posting offensive stuff i could understand the ban but him going on posting rampage because he missed this place isn't that bad. he went cold turkey from posting and its obvious he needed to get his fix so to speak.

and as a member(not a mod), if you're really spending your days looking for possible fake accounts to report, you really need to get a life. like seriously, your sh!t is just pathetic. its one thing for a mod/admin to do it since its their job/duty but as a member?, i'd say you simply suck at life.

i don't get how someone does/says something stupid on the internet and people hold their grudge for years and years and years. its the internet, its great for porn, shopping, and make fun of stuff, none of it needs to be taken to heart.

whatevs though, i'm not a mod so i can't really say, i just feel he deserves a real 2nd chance.

if he steps out of line in the slightest, show him the exit and ban him for life.

  3. its hard to stay cool/level headed when random people are calling you out left and right.

why not just let him post in peace and see where it goes?

if you let him back in and he conitues to be a douchebag, just ban him for life.

i think he deserves a "real" second chance which he has yet to receive.

  4. I've done group buys before and I tell you it's a stinkin' thankless job. Trying to collect money from people that want to be part of it but want you to wait for two weeks or the next paycheck, then completely back out at the last moment. You have a bunch of boxes laid out across floorspace that you don't really have. Repackaging takes up time looking for extra boxes, bubblewrap, tape... lugging them to the PO. Then you have AHOLES that don't know the meaning of group buys. It means that you sometimes get it at a slower rate because you choose the slower delivery and it also means that you don't get to choose the quality of the boxes. You can't return it because you're not a dealer and you didn't have the mark up it takes to absorb a return or the extra merchandise to handle an exchange.

I've had 2 people take over the group buys and they both quit because it's just not worth it. I went back to paying extra for my own stuff also just to get it close to the time it's released. I myself can't wait that long for some stuff, if I don't care about waiting for it and if the price is way better than I can get it for at Frank and Sons, then I'll sign up for some of them. People start group buys thinking you can save some money on your own toys but really you're just buying grief. If you can do it then more power to you, if you're willing to work that hard to save me those extra dollars then I just might throw in support.

Good Luck AgentGHQ on your venture.

i agree with your post 100%, its a lot of work with very little reward.

even when its all said and done, its usually followed by a whole lot of b!tchin for things you have no control over(like box conditions and shipping times). it also doesn't help that someone always feels like they got the short end of the stick even when you yourself have taken a loss and/or taken the worst of the worst as your own.

i didn't know that bigkid had a group buy going?, i've always wanted to take advantage but it never made any sense since i live on the opposite side of the country. the savings were only a few dollars after shipping and i felt the trade off between the wait time and savings wasn't worth it. if you live around him then its totally worth it, otherwise you're better off just getting them from another reputable seller.

you should do your group buy Agent-GHQ but don't be surprised when people flake on you and give you the excuse, whats the big deal, you can sell them anyway....and yes that was a jab at you. ;)

  5. Aren't you worried that someone will commit to buy a bunch from you and then flake in the end? I mean, there are some folks on these boards with a history of doing that...

    zing!

group buys are usually good if its done by honest people(not a jab at agent-GHQ in the slightest), but its usually just a tight group of friends trying to get theres for cheap by marking up what it really costs them. if the total actual cost(like you show everyone the invoice) was evenly divided by everyone who placed an order, cool but thats never the case. this goes for most if not all group buys i've participated in. more or less, its not worth it unless everyone knows its fair and even. i'd rather spend more and give my money to someone who isn't trying to pull the wool over my eyes so they can get theirs for a few dollars less. i see no reason to support a cheat whos telling me and everyone else one price, when he and his friends are paying another.

my post has nothing to do with agent-GHQ whatsoever.

  6. hes not stocking much because people aren't buying much. and if hes not getting alot of orders hes not going to the post office as often. i'm guessing this is his side business and if someone is only getting a handful of orders, that person isn't going to invest as much time/effort into it. i'm sure he has a real job hes trying to hold down as well so whatevs.

  7. i've owned quite a few of them over the years but only have a handful left. i still have them on display but my shelves are sparse since selling off the bulk of my collection, both lego and macross.

the new 1/60s 2 seaters have been calling my name but i'm a recovering valkoholic and trying to stay on the wagon.

  8. weren't these like $17 w/o the FPs? now they(ebay seller you linked) wants $40?

i have a hard time accepting that 3 of these $hitty valks cost nearly the same as a 1/48.

that doesn't seem right to me but to each his own.

  9. i don't own a PS3 but i went over to a friends and played it this weekend. it wasn't anything special but its SF so its pretty fun.

anyway, SF4 got me hyped so i blew the dust off the SF anthology and been playing that on PS2 for the past couple of days.

yeah thats right, i said PS2! i'm always a console behind, everything is cheaper that way. :D

  10. as discussed in the past, brand new "manufactured" collectibles will not hold there value like an old toy.

these toys are made solely for the highend collectors market. in short, these aren't really toys.

in 20 years time, there will still be tons of these available, all in good condition because we're older and take care of our collectibles. real toys don't get taken care of at all, they get opened up, the boxes get tossed and takes its a fair share of falls, scratches and dings.

if you want to collect toys for investment purposes, start picking up popular kids toys of today and stash them away for 10-20 years, then let that generation of adults relive their youth and buy your MISB power rangers, sponge bob or what have you.

  11. to all the haters for the sake of hating.

thank you for your posts. its exactly the reason why i don't come here that often.

sorry i brought up the point that people COULD be spending their money on other things. i wasn't judging anyone here but of course in true MW fashion, the same 2 dudes as always(eugimon and hurin) make mountains out of mole hills...say it ain't so!

as far as my toy purchases, much like you hurin, i've long since stopped collecting and sold off the majority of the toys i own. i also have other responsibilites and priorities that are more important than this hobby much like yourself but please continue to walk around with that chip on your shoulder from yesteryear, its shows me how much you've grown as a person.

and really, you(hurin) of all people talking about someone else being holier than thou?

you gotta be kidding me? you're like the most elitest poster i've come across on any messageboard to date.

but as always, you win the interweb!

  12. logos,

i know what things cost to produce, i agree that when they make less of something it costs more but thats besides the point. i was only using those items for simlar value(if that is the price) to show how much more you get for your money or other things where your money could be spent.

if you can't grasp what i'm saying, thats cool but don't copy and paste the same tired argument for toy pricing since the first macross toy was released.....molds, R&D, cost of plastic, cost of oil, cost of shipping, cost of all the cigarettes shinjo smoked and all the beers he drank when he came up with the idea, blah, blah, blah, its all been said before. next up is the guy who will post about the laws of supply and demand that we all love to read about.

sorry i know i'm being kind of rude but i've read the same crap too many times.

i was only sharing my opinion, not stating it as fact.

  13. All of those items you are using in your comparisson sell millions of units per year and can take advantage of economies of scale to a much greater extent than something like the Macross. If manufacturers and vendors could sell millions more of them because the demand was there - they'd do it - and they'd do it for less. This of course doesn't factor in stuff like cost of production etc etc etc.

this same argument comes up every time theres any discussion of pricing but at the end of the day, $500+ is still a lot money for a plastic toy. if thats what people need to tell themselves to justify their purchase thats fine. i just feel i could do more with $500 than spend it on a overpriced hunk of plastic.

the way things are going globally, i'd rather spend my $500 on something more meaningful than a toy that serves no purpose other than to wooo me.

at the end of the day, its everyones choice to spend their money on whatever they want but if given the choice, i choose the latter. maybe i'm alone on this but i've been blinded too long by my childhood nostalgia. time to time i find myself staring at my collection and can't help but to think how selfish i've been and how i could've used my money more wisely.

  14. $500 is actally a lot of money for any toy. we're just used to seeing these $200+ priced toys that we've become desensitized to the outrageous pricing by manufacturers and their vendors. it doesn't take a genius to figure out that these toy companies/vendors are taking advantage.

if you compare it to any similar priced item(including non-toys), do you think its worth $500? and itouch is less, and iphone is less, a flatscreen TV is less, the xbox/ps3/wii is less, you can get a decent desktop/laptop for the same price!

i don't care what the thing does(outside of an actual fold manuver) its not worth $500 in my eyes. tooling, molds, R&D, all the BS involved with getting it made, should not equal a car payment for a frickin mercedes benz!

toy prices have been getting out of hand for a while now and i'm over it.

i really don't understand how some of you guys are still on it?

i love macross as much as the next guy and it holds a special place in my heart but is this stuff really worth it?

not to get all hippy on you guys but you could feed a kenyan family of 5 for a year for $500, instead some of us choose to own a toy. it just seems ridiculous.

    sorry for the rant.

  15. it looks awesome but you know its going to be a rip. i forsee a ridiculous price tag on this beast(not to mention the cost of shipping) but i'm sure people will be lining up to buy it.

i would've been content with a 1/3000 scale one, the same size as the matchbox one.
