  1. ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! Respect animals and respect the environment is a terrible, dirty, filthy political message that should never be forced down anyone's throat!!

You took my words further than they are meant to go. I don't mean I hated the message they are giving me, I just don't like political propaganda in my entertainment.

Here is an example: I grew up in a marginally religious house. We go to church for christmas and easter. I don't have a problem with anyone's religion, but when someone stops me on the street, and they trys to tell me that they have this whole religion thing nailed, and I have to listen to them or else... I lose my sh!t. I typically threaten them physically, even if none of the things they are saying are really offensive to me... Its just not their place to interrupt my day. If I want a political message, or a religious message to absorb, I will find it myself.

I also like animals. Recently had some shark fin soup in China, and I was furious when I found out what it was... I let my hosts know I did not appreciate what they had given me.

  2. I really like that. That put to words exactly how I feal about that phrase being so over-used when shows or movies end up with shitty characters, doing shitty things, and generally acting shittily.

"Oh it's an exploration of the human condition".

Yes people do crappy things to each other, but we also can show tremendous compation for one another too, but when the good is shown then another term gets thrown around....Sappy.

In Hollywood only the bad is considered "The Human Condition"

    Chris

Looks like we are the only two who get it.

  3. Coke Pam was awesome.

You got your wish. In the trailer they ditch everything that happened in Vice to restart ISIS or whatever.

Say whatever you want of last season we got a Danger Zone duet out of it and I don't even like country.

Same, and I don't like Country music either.

I actually liked the Vice season. Major departure without making the show lame. They tried this in Venture Bros and I think that got screwed up.

The Archer Vice season was not their strongest, but it kind of made up for it at the end. I look foward to the show coming back. Also A1 is right Coke addicts are nuts, and Pam's addiction, while handled in a more comedic way, was pretty spot on. Still surprised that Archer didn't enjoy Pam's fitter form more after how he and she hooked up before, and it was the mindblowingly good $e* he'd ever had.

Pam going fat again doesn't surprise me though, with the Coke out of her system she would plump right back up without serious lifestyle changes. We need to have A1 cameo as Pam's personal trainer and get Pam back in shape around the mid-season.

I am glad their going back to their old spy ways, in the new not ISIS spy company. Let the Archer hijinks commence.

HAHA... I am fairly certain that there is a residual effect of habitual coke use. I had some friends in high school that were all about it, they were nice people who immediately turned into horrible people... Now years later, they are clean, but still are NOT nice people.

I hate how people think coke is a casual drug. Total life ruiner. Right up there with meth and heroin.

  4. The 4C is gorgeous and looks to be a lot of fun, since you already had an elise it seems like you will be right at home. A few strange things I heard about the car is flappy paddle transmission only and that you can't open the trunk to put any luggage in. Here's a fun video you have probably already seen.

    Would you trade in an 04 911 4S for a new 4C?

I love my 911 but the Lotus was far more fun.

  5. Almost every "Chick Flick" is about the "Human Condition" and many of them are excellent. As much as it pains me to admit it...

So too are many of the Oscar winners. ST2 and 6 certainly had that going for them as well.

You need to look up the term.

You know whats better than the 'progressive' pansy ass human condition movies? Human centipede movies... I agree with the human centipede films more than the human condition ones.

  6. You avoided my point in favor of unnecessary snark. My point was that Star Trek was about something, not just mindless JJ effects bullshit. You could easily make a fast paced, modern, sci-fi looking/sounding Star Trek that is ACTUALLY ABOUT SOMETHING. Hell, look at the praise for movies like Birdman and Interstellar. Aren't both of movies about the human condition? Star Trek was about that and more but these past two movies, while flashy, aren't about a God Damned thing. And that's my problem with them.

    ...

The 'human condition' is a buzzword meaning people don't have to take responsibility for their actions. A 'progressive' term for those who want to blame society for their problems... You can't use the two bolded phrases together. That doesn't make sense.

Aside from my not liking your selection of words, I think you are attempting to make a point, but you are distracted by saying that the writers are idiots and JJ is all about lens flares. Please provide the deep messages that you receive the first 6 Star Trek films. Here is my list:

Star Trek the Motion Picture - We made the enterprise shiny, and the whole film could have been cut to the length of a trailer without losing any value.

Star Trek II - Crazy MutherFukers can show up anywhere, even on abandoned moons.

Star Trek III - Its good to have friends

Star Trek IV - We ran out of money, so we thought to shoot a film running in plain clothes running around San Francisco, all while ramming a political message down everyone's throat.

Star Trek V - A remake of the Motion Picture, but instead of flying the enterprise into a big white cloud, this time it will be a red cloud.

Star Trek VI - Hey we made a badass movie! Its about the division between exploration and the temptations of conquest (kind of the whole premise of the TV show). This is a movie that is actually worth seeing!

    Now you go.

  7. I couldn't finish the Archer Vice thing; it just didn't have the same magic as the previous seasons. Also, Pam was so GD annoying in that season. ...

She was a coke addict. Ever met any? They are the most annoying people. cocaine is a horrible drug that basically makes everyone who takes it an assh0le that sees themselves as the only real people in the world, with the people surrounding them just as obstacles that are like bowling pins.

  8. I love the 4C. It's a return to light weight over extreme power. I think the whole thing is south of 2,000lbs. But it still has carpet and a radio. (And A/C for the US market) And the styling is just gorgeous.

I spoke with a Lotus driver and they said its a similar experience. From a chassis standpoint, the mono-tub design is almost the same, louts using aluminum, and Alfa using carbon fiber.

I like that its priced to be a daily driver also.

  9. ...

And to recap further, that Ferrari reminds me of a Lancia. Eric Clapton's Ferrari is super nice as well, but I think a one off car going to a guy like that devalues the entire existence.

Yes total Lancia. Couldn't place where I had seen that design. And yes, bespoke cars are things that tuners do, not a manufacturer. Total dilution of the brand.

  10. I actually really enjoyed the new movie, it was a very pleasant surprise. Megan Fox is starting to look a little rough, and her older partner guy was creepy (should have picked a younger actor), but the action was enjoyable and the comedy was good without being too juvenile.

Truth be told, I like these kind of movies to chill out and cull a few brain cells, and it did that quite nicely.

She is not a kid anymore.

  11. So are you saying the Corvette C7 has no track ability, and that all its vents are useless? Or that people buy Ferraris simply because they're capable, and not just as status items?

I guess, all I'm getting at is, it's not just that kind of trend. There are a good number of cars that have these kinds of aero touches, because above 120mph, aero is a big damn deal, and close to 200mph, aero will literally make or break your car. (Which is why the Challenger Hellcat fails to exceed 200, while the heavier Charger Hellcat, with improved aerodynamics, can achieve 202) I'm sure you've driven an unsuitable car above 100mph and felt it get floaty, and I'm sure you've driven a performance-oriented car above 100mph and felt the front end suck down onto the road. Even something as cheap as a 240SX has the latter effect, while even something as expensive as a Grand Cherokee will have the former. (Except the SRT, which has had its aero modified as part of an extensive package- those huge hood vents extract a lot of heat, and combat a lot of lift)

I'm with you on function-dictates-form. I'd love to keep my stock 15" wheels on my 240SX, because they're light and have cheap tires, but there's no way I'll be able to fit the bigger brakes I want under anything smaller than 16". Some people think the car would look better lowered, but all I see is the loss of ground clearance and overall travel- I can tighten up the suspension without dropping it. Lots of people switch to the Japanese coupe model's fixed headlights, but the aero on the popup model is better and sealed beams are cheaper, even if I do like the clean look of the Silvia. The coupe looks better to most people, but the hatch has better weight distribution and more carrying capacity. I like that there's not a wasted line on this car.

But I guess it doesn't bother me as much that some cars have vents. My pet peeve is "muscular haunches". It's just a justification for how big cars have become thanks to new safety regulations, and increased demand for obese buyers to fit in them.

    1. You are right about the vents, and how people buy true performance cars, and have no idea what they have. (I like how Ferrari now requires completion of track days before letting you buy). Lotus invites you for free, but its not a requirement.

    2. Yes on the big car argument. American sports cars have become couches for fat people on wheels. Sports cars and race cars are based on power to weight ratio, meaning the weight of the driver also. I see a 400 lb guy tracking his vette every once in a while in San Francisco. He spends thousands on performance parts, and I really want to tell him that he could shave 200lbs on and not spend a penny. Also might live longer.

  12. It's already on front page at youtube. I've not logged in to try to view, so not sure if linky is legit, or just more of that "log in to my website to view the full movie" spammer sh*t.

I am pretty sure that Youtube is a legit site. I have heard of it before.

  13. And I thought I was the whiny, picky car guy.

I'll grant that, by and large, cars with that kind of vent-looking design do it because vents are cool, yo. But there are cars with legitimate cooling vents, designed for track performance, and sold to people who would never take their car to a track. Every Ferrari, for example. Hell, every Lotus, even. If you ask me, that kind of thing is the last vestige of the sports car. A car so concerned with driving well that it butchers its design to achieve heightened performance. A car that looks pretty because it was designed around its parts, rather than by some committee of marketing officers.

Will most street cars with legit brake cooling ducts never see the benefit of those ducts? No. The vast, vast majority won't. But, the tiny minority who do take their car and drive them on tracks, will appreciate the increased performance from brake cooling. Saying that the only reason designers do that is to give a car a certain look, is like saying cars only have alloy wheels because they look flashier than caps on steel. Of course, we both know alloy wheels are lighter and offer better cooling for reduced fade, and that improves the function of the car in the few situations where you'd want that.

If it makes the car look good, and if it can serve a function, why not?

I just feel form should follow function. fake or useless ducting or venting, is just one of my points of irritation in automotive design... When you buy a Ferrari, or Lotus, you buy it because it has the capability... I tracked my Lotus because it had that capability. Funny enough, after owning a lotus, I have no desire to track my 911 because by comparison, it really isn't as fun to drive as the Lotus.

Next car will be a track car.

  14. While I don't disagree with you, I think that having such a completely stupid explanation was also a problem.

    You are both right.

actually, I don't think we do. We've got an episode 7 thread and a toy thread, but no SW general thread.

If we are to only to discuss triangle, then we need to lock the thread, as we have no information yet.
