    3. Superman was just too bulky. Part of what makes him fantastic is that he is a muscular, yet lean guy who can do amazing feats of strength. Clark isn't the hulk, or even Thor. He is a really big guy. He would have had a farm boys physique. Lean muscle from repetitious moves like shucking hay, or plowing earth. Superman looked like a roided gym rat. Just didn't work for me. But it's a minor complaint. I know cultures change and looks change, so I understand that they have to keep up with the times...

    :o

The oposite is what bothered me about Christopher Reeve. The guy is strong, he should look it. He never looked skinny in the comic. In fact he looks like a bodybuilder in the comic and pretty much always has:

This one really shows my point:

  2. I had exactly the same experience:

Sentinels was Art 3... :p Art 2 was almost all fan art. Man I loved those books when I was little. Then I saw the Perfect Memory book and my jaw dropped and actually kinda pissed me off how lacking those art books were. One Perfect memory book blew all three of the RT Art books away... Seeing the Gold Book all sealed up at the Shrine Auditorium was such a huge mystery for me. For years I wondered what was in that damn thing. And I tell you, I still open it today and it doesn't disappoint.

Fortunately my Mom figured out that RT was the fugazi show and she found me actual Macross stuff.

  3. It's guaranteed to make a killing at the box office, but it's not doing well among critics. As of right now, it's dropped to 62% on Rotten Tomatoes - just three points shy of falling off the "fresh" level. In comparison, Superman Returns is at 75%.

"Remember Brandon Routh from that godawful Superman movie? Jesus Christ! Thanks for getting our hopes up and taking a giant sh!t on us!" - Ted (2012)

Do we really read Rotten Tomatoes? RT has steered me wrong hundreds of time. I read Macross World. It only steered me wrong one time.

I think more and more people are looking to peer groups to review instead of "experts." Think of consumer electronics... People used to care about Cnet. I remembering watching an iPad review on Cnet when it first came out. The reviewer did a number of things wrong showing that they didn't play with the thing even for 5 min before shooting the video (I mean seriously, how can you screw up using an ipad?). These people are not fans, they just produce reviews thinking that people will watch anything they say. Now its all about user feedback from 20 different places.

    just saw it.

    reminded me of Tekken.

That was my only small gripe... The punching guys through buildings went on WAY too long.

  4. Wasn't Max and Millia in the Skull Squadron? Just like Hikaru's Vermillion team was under Fockers. My guess would be if he became the Skull Leader he'd get a black and yellow one because in the TV show it was in the lineage of the Jolly Rogers colors, unlike in DYRL where everyone got their own valk with the skull emblem with different colors assigned to them. I also think they get a whole new valkyrie and a new strike pack in DYRL. That's all just my imagination though.

I wouldn't attempt to find reason or logic in the squadron assignments compared with the paint schemes in the TV show. There was little attention to detail in the show.

  5. Its not just a matter of uncut... There is also a clip that comes before the film that was made years later and featured in a video game:

Then there is the final- final finish of the film, which was also made years later. This clip is called 2012 Flashback:

I have two versions of the film, one dubbed in English, and one subtitled. I had to stitch the clips together myself to have the "final" versions of the film.

I am not sure which DVD is the unedited version.

  6. God I hate the idea of the good name of DYRL being affiliated with (a movie within) M7... When seeing this, there was steam coming out of my ears. This was Kawamori's ultimate sin. To me, this was worse than ANYTHING Lucas did to star wars.

  7. I'm surprised the entire engine isn't enclosed in a giant plastic clamshell...

    American Sports car design model:

Vents to cool the breaks (eyeroll: not even necessary on cars with triple the performance)

    Faux hood vents

    Faux fender vents

Faux tail pipes (usually only 2 are required the other two are just there to create an illusion of badass)

Faux good looking engine (see quoted post)

    Faux sports car
