So, work has officially begun, and looks like the project is moving along. No pictures to show, but in due time. All materials are in hand and it's now just a quick waiting game.

Hey guys, just figured I'd show off my F-14A kit I built in UN Spacy markings. I know it's not the same type as Shin's, but I figured this could be a pre-Zero Tomcat without the B/D upgrades. Pardon my terrible camera!



I even took the liberty of writing up a little back story for the squadron:

"VF-51"Screaming Eagles" was an F-14 squadron from the United States that served under UN Spacy command. As part of CVW-10, VF-51 served aboard the UNSS Ticonderoga (named for the USS Ticonderoga, a missile cruiser sunk off the coast of Okinawa), an overtechnology enhanced Nimitz class carrier similar to the UNSS Illustria. VF-51 saw action in the Indian Ocean against AUN Navy and Air Force bombers and fighters, racking up an impressive kill list that included TU-95 Bears, MiG-29 Fulcrums, and MiM-31 Karyobin. In late 2007, the squadron transitioned to the new F/A-20 Dragon II, and served until the Zentradi bombardment, where only a few members of the squadron survived in Australia's Grand Cannon when the carrier was docked for shore leave."

Great work on the podcast guys! I really enjoyed it, however, there are a few points I have to defend the use of landing gear, so aircraft nerd mode incoming!

1: Fighter mode makes it a lot easier to park aircraft in confined hangar bays that have low ceilings
2: Landing gear makes it easier to move aircraft on the ground around when parking, bringing in for maintenance, preparing for launch, etc.
3: pylon stations/hardpoints are easier to access one meter off the ground than 5. Crews would be able to rearm Valkyries much faster in fighter mode than if it were in GERWALK
4: There's less chance for the pilot or maintenance works to fall and die when working around a fighter than a battroid or GERWALK.

5: Take off and landing sequences are ballin'

This is partly why I don't mind the idea of the VF-2SS or ANY valkyrie having landing gear.

Looks great! I'd try to improve or change the coloring style to give the VFs a more metallic look, though. The current style should work great as-is for anything not mechanical.

You already know what I think of it, as we've talked. Definitely a fan of yours, man. Great stuff. My wife likes it as well. We'll definitely have stuff to do and talk about when you're down here. Oh, and the new cover??? Hory Froating Head, man. You're skills are growing vastly in the time since we first met. This has been a great journey and I can't wait to read more of it.

Now I don't get it. Keiko has some sort of telecom on her, she was chatting to the others in her team a moment earlier. Why is she not reporting that she is being attacked?

A simple matter of being in the moment; she's scared as hell as I sure as heck would be with a giant robot chasing me.

Keep in mind for the next chapter, her cries of fear and homing beacon ARE operating.
