It looks like you're supposed to cut them off. See the circled knife to the left of the pic with the lines pointing to the posts? I'd say yes.

Hey all, I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. Just wondering if anyone has built up a yf-21 / vf-22 with a different than standard color scheme yet. And if so, does anyone have any pictures? I'm contemplating building mine up and painting it in squadron colors, but havn't decided which yet. Thanks VA
