  1. Well, u didn't miss much - the little snippet - and i mean little, was nothing all that great. Juggernaut was done very well, way better than what i thought he'd be! Overall the movie was cool, a bit rushed and sombre too, but all in all it was cool.
  2. I use Maya & Photoshop (of course!). I used Maya 5 for the last few years and recently got Maya 8, its really spiffy.
  3. Wow u guys still haven't got it yet? We got it ages ago in kangaroo land! It's a very good dub, very well done, so much so, that i don't mind watching it in japanese or english! Batou and Togusa and everyone are all very well developed. Its great they still used the same voice actors from the first movie - haven't seen GiTs-SAC in english, so i can't comment if they used the same ones there, still its very good.
  4. Hey doodler7, you my friend have a wicked cool style, i like it. Theres heaps of great ideas and styles on this thread, keep 'em comin' i say! Radd - awesome tank dude! Might as well hop on the wagon too, here some things i've been working on; Some scans and renders from a project i'm working on -> This next one is not quite mecha, but has some mecha in it, this image is almost done- still a bit to go, as u can see and has been cropped A HEAP and shrunk down alot too.
  5. Ah excellent to see a few of you at least get where i'm coming from! I agree with the whole 'noble/redemption death', i think it adds soooo much more weight to the story. Guld is definately growing on me more as a in-depth character than just a green-haired douche bag. Good points 1/1 LowViz Lurker & KingNor!
  6. Hi guys, just a quick update, made the legs - sans the feet, still tweaking it, they're really skinny when in the hull cavity in fighter mode and they're a bit fatter and chunky in battroid. Next up - the feet, then arms! Yay.
  7. From memory, The VF-0 was called the Phoenix and then the official name was dropped... can't quite remember the details, and the 51 never had one i think, but it should've been some like 'Vulture' or "Condor", some carrion eating bird. My 2 cents...
  8. Sorry guys! Been busy! Applying for a few jobs, u know how it is, haven't had time to post much or model much, as i've been trying to get my portfolio together for an interview soon! Anyways...... At the moment i'm modeling the front arm inner detail and starting the back legs. Pics soon.
  9. I was rewatching M.Plus the other day for the millionth time, and apart from Guld repenting at the end and possibly making the most kick-ass self sacrifice of all anime - it never really occured to me how tragic his story really was - bear with me now; 1- In the inquest about the 'accident' to do with the live ammo firing from the YF-19's gunpod - when Guld is being questioned, one of the UN.Spacey Captains or judges or whatever makes a comment to the tune of 'even tho he is a Zentradi, you still support him?' (Which was Directed at Millard). At which Millard make some comment about 'his men' (implying that ALL -Human & Zentran) are equal. So seems even in that day and age, the racism is still rife within the UN.Spacey forces. This has gotta suck tho, as a love child of the result of the 1st war, Guld has strived & worked hard to make it where he is today. 2- After all is said and done, when Guld goes to the spaceport to see Myung off, its so sad to see him practically spill his guts to Myung and tells her he loves her and wants to be with her forever, etc etc... Only to be rejected - which thinking about it from Gulds side - really sucks ass (as we all know...) so by Guld saying and feeling this way - he had broken the mould that his Zentran ancestors had experienced (Culture, emotions, etc.) and essentially had done what everyone (Macross, DYRL) had strived for. He is an example of what the Humans WANTED from the Zentran - an integrated member of society and loving being. So when Guld gets rejected, after following what must've been a natural progression of his feelings, it's no wonder he gets a little angry. Makes Isamu (as much as i love the guy) seem a little shallow and childish - more-so. What i'm trying to say, is that Guld gets a pretty heavy deal throughout his life and up until the end, but of course makes up for it in a wicked way. Am i rambling? Or do ya get what i mean?!?!?
  10. Thanks guys! Here's an update; Parts left to model - entire arm units, entire leg units, the 2 flap thingies that cover the underside/attach to the hips and some greeble detail inside the YF-21 for use in battroid mode (between the 'backpack' and the torso) - not really needed but will look cool non the less. My main goal is to model it as low poly as possible without losing any detail, so it can have a flexible amount of usage. After the modeling has been done, i'll tackle the texturing - which i still need some practice in - urgh... Here ya go!
  11. "Lasers" *In Dr.Evil voice* - right lasers, god bless 'em. But the SV-51 has machine guns tho, right?
  12. Hello one and all. We've seen that in M.Zero, when Ivanov decides to break into the Asuka, he squishes all the little maintenance dudes running about - he also unleashes a short burst of machine gun fire from the 'hips' of the SV-51, yeah? And in fighter mode, the SV-51 has the guns facing forward. Now the YF-19 has 2 machine guns on either side of the intakes in fighter, and in battroid these forward facing guns appear as the hip-mounted wings we all know and love, so my question is - Can the YF-19 use these hip mounted machine guns in battroid? My guess, yes. Maybe for close combat fighting with other mecha? Crowd dispersal? Or no use in battroid? Hold on a moment... are they even guns?
  13. Hello again! I've decided to have a go at the YF-21, since theres always somebody making VF-1's! Originally i wanted to make a Q.Rau - but that red one that was posted a while ago, was simply beautiful! no way i could do it justice! I am also looking into making a Renegade Q-Rau from M.Plus after this and the Octos, as i really like the design. I'm making this based off the Hasegawa model and am making it in all its pieces as i will later have it transform, i'm using the Battroid scratchbuild that was posted on these boards some time ago - for battroid reference, also helps that i have the design works books! Sorry about the lack of detail, as i started it a few days ago - also trying a new shader out for the first time. Thanks!
  14. Well, it definately isn't Rum - as it's (in my experience) "angry-juice"... well maybe not... it melows me out, so maybe it is? Not Bourbon - he's no hick, A nice cognac perhaps? Whisky too... I'm putting my 2 cents on whisky.
  15. Yeah i guess it must stay on the field, but 5 - 6 people? It looks like even with two 2 or so turbines and an attatchment to connect it to the main body, the back part could still hold at least double that, judging by the the scale of the dude standing underneath it, in the line art above. I also have NO idea how the mechanism for the front upper arms work. For example when its underwater just before it fires a torpedo from it's 'fist', the 'bicep' (i guess!) extends quite far from its body, and that doesn't quite add up with the line art. Help any body? There has gotta be a bigger 'mecha-worker-er-outer' freak than me on these boards! Jeez, what have i got myself into!?!? Argh! Edit - Okay, after frame by frame of ALL screen time in ep.3 & 4, i think i got the front claws and front wheel figured out. Pics soon.
  16. Have finished (more or less) the face, seems a bit funny to me, again its the un-ending tweaking that annoys me, due to diff proportions from pic to pic. Comments welcome!
  17. Oh, here's the parts break down for the Octos, as u can see - i've colour coded the parts - BUT - where does the back part of the hull goto? It must suffer from Optimus Prime Trailer Syndrome, or O.P.T.S as we call it in the field... ...yeeeaaah.... Maybe it stays behind? Surely not... but i'm thinking i may make some sort of hinge/joint to attatch it to the back when its battroid form, kinda like a wolf spider or fuchikoma/tachikoma?
  18. Well, Jinnai - those 'other pics' had a lot more geometry in there, and even tho they were untextured they still looked nice 'cause the light rays had many places to hide in! And the Octos here is just being born! The 'battroid' will look infinately better than the sub-mode, with all the liitle greebles n stuff! The gun is and cockpit are nearly ready, hope u enjoy these next few updates.
  19. Thanks guys! I'm purely making this for fun, and a bit of practice! When it's finished i'll make a few nice renders, who knows, but definately make it available if anybody else wants to have a play with it. My 2 main concerns are how exactly the 'shoulder' joints work and the hind shoulder/hip joints. And the other is how the font wheels/feet function because as you've seen when under water wrestling with the VF-0, it had large pincer type manipulators, and they end up kinda pinching the wheel into position, like in the pic above. Enough of a rant! My next step it to finish the 'face' cockpit area and make the shoulder cannon, which again in some shots looks sleek and almost identical to the SV-51's rifle - and in other shots, like when roy collides/tackles it in ep.4, it looks stubby. So i'll make an inbetween, see what looks best. Also really bothers me that the official M.Zero website has no info or pics on the Octos, phft... it had the cheyenne..? What gives? Anyhow its a cool concept, kinda gets the creative juices going, maybe if the Anti U.N also had a land tank/destroid for inland ops? Hmm.... EDIT - Spelling

    Vf-5

So judging from the pic, does it have 3 engines? On the back, and one in each leg?
  21. G'day! I don't post much, well at all really, but do enjoy my time here on MW, and during my searches hadn't found any one having a go at the Octos and for a long time now i've been wanting to make this very cool machine, but with the limited pics there are of the Octos, it's kinda hard to see how it all works, especially the back section that kinda vanishes! And there's also only so many times u can watch M.Zero to get a good view of it before u go mad (Not really tho...). Any how, i'm not a great modeler - but i can always have a try, right? So here's my go at the Octos, much to my dismay, the Octos too, unfortunately also suffers from anime magic, but not that much luckily! I've got alotta screen caps and the pics that have been posted up around here, but any new news, pics or theories, all welcome! Pls feed back! Or Pics! Or somebody gimmie their view on this beast! http://img133.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=l...s_00_Open_2.jpg http://img151.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=l...tos_00_Open.jpg http://img103.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=l...os_00_Close.jpg
  22. Holy sweet jesus, My Bad, wrong forum, that'll teach me for looking up multiple page! Damn me, damn the establishment! Mods, pls do as neccessary, my apologies.

  24. Yeah i know, i started to make it before they released or i had a 1/72 battroid (can't remember). The shoulders, elbows and wrists are ball/socket joints and give noice movement. I always liked the 2nd ep of macros, when Hikaru flys the VF-1D in gerwalk... although this one has a VF-1J head.. which is my fave... the arms are made from the fighter kit.
  25. Hey that art work is awesome! Reminds me of WWII paintings of the old spitfires and B52's, also here is somethin' else on my bench... forgive my dodgy photoshopping skills; http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/9271/guardian002ry.jpg
