  1. Yeah, the -25/29 diecast shoulder bits are "unintuitive" to get lined up, but you almost always can get them to fit with very little gappage.  But it does tend to require "adjust them to where you think is right, THEN swing arm assembly into place".  Trying to adjust the shoulders after the arms are in fighter mode doesn't tend to work well----have to swing the arms back out, adjust shoulder, swing arms back in.....

That sucks when certain colors or whole lines of paint are no longer being made.

What part of the ventral fins need to be painted red? Is it something that was missed or just adding some personal touches to it?

Just my personal desire for a bit more color, a bit more like "every other valk"---pretty much all other valks have accent colors on their ventral fins----and the VF-4's are huge but bare.  It's IMHO the most obvious place to make it a less "all white" valk.

  3. Started painting the ventral fins last night.  Annoyingly, per my personal color chart, signal red is a perfect match for the stripes on the thighs/tailcone----but I accidentally left the cap a little loose a while ago and the bottle dried out----and that paint is now "extinct".  :(

Vallejo RAL3001 red was the closest match I could find at the hobby shop, but it's still SLIGHTLY more orange than the thigh paint.  But a good match for the kite logos.

Don't forget to paint on the red lights on the underside! Or whatever they're supposed to be. :unknw:

Not sure what you mean?  I do plan to paint the "obvious-what-they-are-but-not-painted-as-such" landing lights on the wing leading edge.  (Normally Yamato/Arcadia goes so far as to mold them as separate clear parts---but for the VF-4, it's like they didn't realize what they are)

  5. VF-4 is pretty bland, especially in battroid IMHO----seriously thinking about painting the ventral fins black with a red edge, as is "proper" for a Hikaru valk.  It may not be canon, but canon is only like 4 seconds...   (and, real military CAG/CO planes tend to get many subtle variations frequently--you can easily see small details of the paint scheme change over the course of a single year/cruise)

$100 markup for the US market.

    F U Bandai

Yes, but EMS etc from Japan isn't cheap, and BBTS has like $4 shipping, so the difference when shipped could end up being about half that.  (it's actually a bit better deal than I was expecting---I was fully prepared for it to be a full $300 in the US)

Isn't this a ww release?  We should see domestic at some point.

Yes, but the markup on a valk+supers combo pack could be substantial.  Especially if they decide to use a "traditional" USD-to-Yen rate, and not "what it actually is now, and is predicted to be next spring".   I was going to wait for a US release, especially as it may be easier to get support if Bandai'd----but the more I thought, the more I leaned towards "well, if I'm going to possibly save the better part of a hundred bucks, I may as well at least try to get a pre-order in tonight".

Also, and even more importantly IMHO---Alto's -25 is FAR more popular than the other wwm releases.  Sure, it's not a Roy 1S, but it's the most visible/popular valk of the last 20 years I'd say.   It may sell out quickly in the US.

  8. I'm amazed I got one at AmiAmi----I logged into my account about 5 mins before it opened, refreshed every minute or so "just in case"---then the moment it showed up, I added to cart----but it made me log in again to actually check out!  Typed as fast as I could, and it went through.
