  1. That's right, the galaxy's greatest flying genius is also a pacifist.

Wait, wait, wait. Isamu is a pacifist?

In all seriousness though. Max I would qualify as a realist, not necessarily a pacifist. He didn't want to use sound energy/singing as a tool because he thought it was a better alternative to fighting, he did it because, being the military genius that he is, he realized that when faced by insurmountable military odds (Space War 1, Fleet of Strongest Women, Protodevlin) you have to explore every avenue available to create victory. History had shown him through Space War 1 that Zentradi were susceptible to a Culture Shock attack, so he continued to develop this. It was in his best interests to allow Basara to try his strategy on the Protodevlin as it cost him nothing to do so and had the possibility of bearing fruit (which it did).

As for the toy. I still like mine alot. I love how beefy the lower legs are.

  2. Oh, and FAST packs. Although I have never figured out how the FAST packs work in all modes...

The line art shows it pretty good. The leg packs are hinged and ride under the wings during flight and swing back to the legs during gerwalk/battroid. The shoulder/dorsal packs don't really have to move at all, strike cannons just pop out.

They look great in battroid, not so great in fighter IMO.

  3. I am totally down with the P providing the speaker shoulder clips are detachable. I don't mind the integrated ones on the Kai, but find the ones on the P to ruin the effect. The ventral stabilizer fins being added back into the design really make the fighter mode "pop" with the classic Valkyrie flying towards/away profile.

Not particularly interested in the VF-19S "test". Being somewhat of a completionist I would probably buy, but it is kind of a dull scheme (P looks similar but better) and is shown doing very little.

  4. P.S. Actually Regults are not too large.

And they can be conveniently crouched down for packing!

Seriously, Even a 1/60 Monster would be doable if they broke it down into a few pieces to keep the packaging reasonable. Get creative with the assembly. All you are paying for is plastic and diecast, it's not like a lot of design would be necessary. I would buy a new home so I would have somewhere to display it!

I would totally be down for a Cheyenne though to be totally honest, I am pretty convinced the Zero line is dead. I will keep barking up the Spartan and Phalanx tree though!

  5. That is some sweet destroid love.

That Defender is sick. I remember a poll in the toys section awhile ago asking people if they would buy a Macross the First VF-1J. I think a Macross the Ride Defender toy would be awesome.

I like how it incorporates the existing UUM-7 Missile pods as its shoulder missile packs instead of something else. Makes it fit more believably into the Macross world.

  6. Different strokes for different folks.

Completely true. A bulked up VF-1 with Fast Packs is the essence of beauty in my eyes.

One thing I forgot to mention regarding the toy which I like is how the detailing on the wing root guns in battroid form actually makes them look like they could be guns, unlike on the YF-19 where they were smudgy circles with seams through them.

The eyes could have been jeweled if they made the faceplate out of green translucent plastic with red painted on. Perhaps they were concerned about colors matching?

  7. Mine just came in today.

    Pro's

    1)Awesome Battroid

    2) Incredible tight, everything locks together

3)Surprisingly easy to transform. I usually wait until an English transformation video to do mine, and I have had no issues without a video with this valkyrie

    4) Basara figure is very detailed.

5)Plenty of optional pieces which you can use to suite your particular brand of OCD.

    Con's

    1) Not yamato's fault, but while fighter mode is sleek, it is also boring, perhaps the removable intake covers would have helped this?

    2) Not entirely sure if the gunpod is supposed to be a gatling, but they could have put some barrel detail on the tip.

3)Not a fan of the shiny plastic, hopefully VF-19 F/S will be matte.

    4)No tampo on the console

Overall, a fantastic valk and definitely a step up from the YF-19 (though I still love mine)

  8. I would prefer if Yamato completed all they want to do with Macross 7 before the new liscense comes up. That way we don't end up with missing peices (I am looking at you Phalanx Destroid and Regult). Money talks and huge Macross Frontier sales would probably cause them to concentrate more efforts on the Frontier line, leaving Macross 7 in the dust.

Mind, you, with a working VF-19 and a VF-17 in the works, we are already mostly there. Probsably too much to hope for the VF-5000 and VA-Invader as well as VF-1 commercial/whaling valks So maybe we are already there?

I am very glad that the VF-17 will be matte, more excited for this then the Blazer.

What was the length of time between CAD and prototype for the VF-19 Kai again? I am curious how long we have until we can start drooling over the VF-17 in real photo's.

  9. I hope the Blazer comes with its Atmospheric Fast packs.

    Good god, no, no, no.

Not while there is ANYTHING in the Macross universe that has yet to be built. I suppose if it is just an accessory and doesn't raise the price by a single cent then some people might get enjoyment out of them. VF-11 atmosphere packs? Sure. VF-19 atmosphere packs = :vomit:

It hurts my soul to think that yamato could waste time and resources on the VF-19 atmosphere packs when there is no armored VF-11.

  10. Its a shame that blazer will come on glossy plastic I always imagine this valk like the max´s vf 22s in a darker tone of course and seeing the all the vf 22 and the vf 11c it woul be nice that glossy difference the civilian of the military <_<

I fully agree. Doesn't bother me so much on the KAi, but they should go back to a matte finish for the blazer and definitely for the VF-17.

  11. The battroid is the victim of a space version of the death worm. The armored version was created in a lab by the protoculture race as biological weapons. This is what hikaru minmay and misa hayase encountered and this is why there are no future stories dealing with these characters.

    ??????????

I really like both my VF-11's. It is a great valk and I would recommend it highly. I would prefer an armored version before a jamming birds personally. I would probably pick up a Miria re-paint too.

  12. With all reports of quality improvement and new-generation engineering in the VF-19, I still like the look of YF-19 better.

Even though it is floppy and things don't lock together, I really like its look.

Sorry if I sound like a jerk in a VF-19 thread. Maybe I will change my religion when I get mine.

I bet that when the VF-19P or even VF-19F comes out your opinion will change. It is a pretty polarizing Valkyrie. I sent my payment and am looking forward to mine, but not as much a I will be for a color scheme I like more.

  13. I hope they don't forget to make it Fold Booster capable.

    http://www.macross2.net/m3/macross7/vf-17d-foldbooster.htm

They won't...but it will be a proprietary version that doesn't work with your other valks. Check this out vf-17d-foldbooster-lineart.gif

Only one attachment point, which means the booster you have won't end up working. Maybe they will package it with the radome and super parts.

EDIT: Comparing the fold booster to the "Plus" ones on mecha manual, it seems there are some subtle shape differences that would necessitate a new mold anyway...you win this time Yamato...
