  1. Steam Machines, yeah! I've been waiting for something like this. Steam is awesome, but I can't be bothered to actually go and build a dedicated gaming PC (I've been a console gamer for the most part, but always looked toward switching to PC someday, but couch gaming is just so much more comfy for me :) ).

If they put out a high spec one that can out perform the PS4/Xbone, count me in for one.

Steam will be coming out with a range of hardware (low spec to uber high spec I would presume, from different manufacturers) as well as it's own prototype hardware to run Steam OS.

I.E. steambox can/will be multiple boxes I guess (still really cool that they're giving people options though!). 300 will get a beta test run this year :D

  3. Called this (the price and the flame :p ). For me, a PS4/new iPad/college textbook/etc. takes precedence over this toy for me, so i'm gonna go fund another order. Have fun to all you guys buying this release, keep Arcadia afloat till that VF-0 drops!

  4. Finished Clannad and Clannad After Story. Oh my, what a show! I'm NOT a big fan of slice of life anime, but I don't think I've ever been that touched by a show.

It's just so grounded in actual life, and being a college student right now (going through that transition into the real world), that it soars as a show in my book.

I rarely cry during shows, and I held it in for all the episodes until the second to last one, where Tomoya talks to his dad. Couldn't stop the tears, no matter how hard I tried :)

What a beautiful show. Everyone needs to go check this out if you haven't, it'll bring out feelings you didn't think you had. Also, upon a friend's recommendation, I'll be moving on to Kanon, also by the same studio :D

  5. Yes, we needed a dedicated thread for this :) Gotta love the guy trying to make legit 3D gear. I actually think some guys a while back did some actual physical calculations regarding the G's that the character's experience whilst moving, and the legitimacy of using gas to wind the winches.

I think the conclusion, and I agreed with the analysis, came to be that the sideways G forces would be fine while turning, but the rapid pace that they climb and fall would render even the most athletic human useless in an actual combat situation. Also, as for the gas powered winches, the speed at which they are wound are insane, and near impossible.

Each winch would need a plutonium fuel cell (fairly large and not cost economical :) ) to wind even close to the speed that they do in the anime.

And finally, the reaction speeds of human beings are nowhere near what would be needed to coordinate navigation, speed information, targeting, balancing, etc. that's required when fighting a titan.

And that will be the end of my damper on this awesome show :D

  6. Actually you can, just make a Japanese psn account and you are all set. After you dl the pre order bonuses it will work across all accounts.

I know, but to make a japanese psn account on vita, I'd have to reformat the vita so that I can sign into a new account (as I've already registered my own personal north american account on it first).

Unfortunately, the Vita's inability to support more than one account makes this process a huge hastle, and I don't know if it's worth it just for HG Destiny and HG Build Strike....

  7. are you going to get the vita tv to play Gundam breaker on the big screen? is there alot of text (Japanese) in the game or is it straight action.

i forgot everything i learned in Japanese class in undergrad

I've got a North American vita, which isn't region locked, so I'll be playing it on that. I would have gotten it for PS3, but recently, I find myself actually using my vita more and more for gameplay.

The game has no plot, and all menus are subtitled in english, so I've heard its one of the easier games to import. The entirety of the game focuses around building your own "dream" Gundam machine, which is pretty cool.

It corresponds well to the upcoming build fighters anime as well, which I'm sure will drive the games popularity somewhat.

Anyways, I'm desperate for a Gundam game, so this will be my fix :)

  8. Cheaper price and better battery life. essential for a portable. i sold my vita a while back.. but this and the potential remote play w/ ps4 makes me think about getting it again...

wonder if the 1gb is internal or a separate card.

It's internal I believe. To be honest, it'll probably be $180 - $200 if it ever hits North America. I would pick up the original vita now if I can, as I think the OLED is worth it compared to an hour extra battery life.

  9. That commercial, as ridiculously cheesy as it is, does a really good job of showing off the Playstation brand as an ecosystem. Too bad actual college is nothing even close to that :)

I think Sony might start to phase out the older vitas since (I would assume) they are more expensive to manufacture (OLED screen mainly), and phase in these new cheaper vitas.

If that's the case, I'd jump on a vita now (the OLED screen really is beautiful, and I don't think an LCD could keep up).

  10. They also announced a cheaper and slimmer, with built in memory (1GB), Vita model (albeit, without the OLED screen, going for LCD instead). What piqued my interest most, though, is the video that they put out (similar to the social features one that was released about a month ago, cept in Japan), where one of the actors takes the vita to a cafe, and remote plays with the PS4 in her house.

    That'd be cool!

Also, Mobile Suit Gundam announced for PS4 as well (though no North American release info).
