  1. It's a course on "Astrosociology", a new field which looks at space not (only) from a physics perspective but from a human sciences one. Here's the ongoing blog (although most of it is in Japanse, sorry) -- And yes, that's me in the spacesuit :p

Shame it's mostly in Japanese because i'd love to give it a read. & awesome picture, i must say.

As for the Gypsy vinyl, is that the one with the very sexy Mimsy cover? Not sure if that's only for the CD version or not.

  2. For me definately SDF Macross followed by DYRL then Macross Plus. Haven't had a chance to watch Zero, Frontier, 7 or Dynamite 7 yet - might get a chance to do that over the upcoming Thanksgiving holidays.

Make sure you watch Macross Zero before Macross Frontier. Trust me on that one. :p

But yeah hopefully you won't have been spoiled too much on these shows you haven't seen while browsing the forum.

  3. You know the man behind Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days & 5 Centimeters Per Second? Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below is his next project, and the first trailer was released today.

    & the film summary:

Asuna lost her father and lives a lonely life listening to mysterious music coming from her father's crystal radio. One day she sets out for a journey to see a boy again. Through the adventure' date=' she experiences a parting and finds the cruelty and the beauty of the world.[/quote']

Visuals are absolutely stunning, plus the first Temon piece we heard for the movie is beautiful, as expected. I'm on board for this, and can not wait.

If this is the first time you've heard of Makoto Shinkai and haven't seen any of his previous works, then i highly recommend you do so now.

  4. My order would be:

DYRL? > Macross Plus > SDF Macross > Macross 7 > Macross Frontier > Macross Zero > Macross II

Funny really, because i was thinking about this recently and couldn't come up with an answer. Turned out pretty easy when it came to writing it down.

Macross the First is special, so that goes into it's own category.

  5. But there was a full house of mostly Daft Punk fans who kept screaming for the operator to "crank it up".

That's awesome. Glad to hear it was packed with Daft Punk fans.

As a plus, Kei Katsuragi's way of approaching women is just plain hilarious.

& now i know where Hayami Show's playboy voice started. He's such a damn awesome main character.

Looking at Orguss, you have to feel a bit jealous that Macross didn't have its animation consistency. Sure there are still some off-model episodes, but the consistency overall is much better.

Yeah that's pretty much all i could think about while watching the first episode of Orguss. Though we had DYRL which made up for it. :3

Wow, this is actually the first time I've entered this thread, and you guys are talking about Orguss. That is awesome, as not only is it probably my favourite anime series of all time, but I bought the single on vinyl just yesterday.

Wow that's pretty awesome. I have all the more reason now to enjoy Orguss has much as possibly. & wow teaching you students about the Space Elevator. How did that come about in class?

& yeah Arjuna is a great show, with such a wacky yet awesome Yoko Kanno score. It's amazing the amount of people who watch show, and come away calling it a hippy's experience. :p

  6. Type A you manually Purge, by pressing alll the face buttons (▲OX■), Type B automatically ejects after the packs health is used up.

Yeah i knew about Type B, though i would have never known how to purge while using Type A, so thanks a lot for that.

  7. Thanks a lot big F and Keith, you've been most helpful.

I was wondering if you could attach a pack and still be able to use the original special combo attack, so that's rather interesting to know. Seeing as though the pack auto purges on Type B, i'm guessing it stays with A, or do i have to do it manually?

As for colors, most of the time i go with the standard for the same reason as Keith, though now and then i like to play around with the custom colors, to see what i can come up with.

  8. I thought M7's length was fine and Frontier was short. But then again, I'm use to series that run into the 75+ episode-range and think kids these days suffer from ADD. Naruto is 220 episodes long and kids these days complain about M7 being too long. M7 is a frakin' cake-walk compared to a show like Naruto.

I guess some people just aren't that interested in the slice of life episodes that Macross 7 has (personally i love them), and instead wish it was shorter and more plot focused.

Regarding today's anime, yeah there's only a few shows started each year that go past the 26 episode mark. Today's viewers have it easy.
