I really like your colour choice. Great compromise between some of the box art examples. Hope you don’t mind but I’ll probably use your formula. 😊

  2. Sadly, unless there is revised interest in SDFM I would assume all the value will die with us. I imagine that all the fellow SDFM lovers are in their 40s which typically is when you would have the most purchasing power. Makes sense that the prices have risen with the purchasing power of the fan base.

Not sure if the new Macross shows attract young people to SDFM, hopefully they do. That way the Macross fan base continues to expand and get younger. That would insure it’s value.

The 2010 Bandai reissues are still plentiful here, at the retail cost of ¥2000. :good:

Well, the 1:100 Glaug is a little undersized, but I wouldn't call it "indecent." 😅

Bandai never reissued the 1:72 Glaug, and the original Arii kits go for big bucks nowadays...

Nonetheless, I should be able to provide you with an objective comparison in the next few days. ^_^

Thanks Tekering! I look forward to hearing more on the Glaug. 😊

It's a nice kit.  However, it's also a child of its era.  So there's no rubber grommets in the joints like the ones introduced in Gunpla.  Due to that, the legs become a floppy mess if most of the joints* in them aren't glued solid.  That said, the legs have great articulation.

    * there's like 5 spread out between the hip and knee (not including the "hip" where the legs attach to the torso)!

    That’s great information Sketchley, thanks!

I’m going to pick up one and probably glue the joints into a pose.

    Cheers!

  4. I’ve always passed on this kit assuming it lacked detail and that the proportions would be off. But looking at your picture the kit looks good. I’ll probably need to pick this up now. Thanks.

Indecently, does anyone know if the Bandai Glaug kit is as good, in both detail and proportions? And if so, is one scale better than the other, 1/72 vs 1/100 kit?

    Cheers!

  5. Thanks Everyone! These are great suggestions.

I’m aiming to start the build in about three weeks when I move into my new place, so I have some time to think how I’m going to approach it. I’ll need to confirm the canopy’s cross-section but if it’s straight the “heat and smash” technique would work well. If I find that the canopy’s cross-section comes in at the bottom then building a cheap vacuum former as described would be the ideal setup.

    Thanks again!

  6. Hey Everyone,

I’m a complete novice to poster collecting so I have a general question. I want to start collecting some of the vintage SDFM and DYRL posters including some of the magazine inserts. But seeing so many available on eBay makes me concerned that there are lots of fakes. Is there anyway to tell a fake or are there eBay sellers I should avoid?

Also what are fair prices for many of these posters. Some of the ones I’m interested in average around $50, is that a fair price? Thanks!

  7. Hi Everyone,

I’m hoping someone here can help me with this question. I’m looking to customize my Hasegawa 1/48 VF-1A/J model into a VF-1D Virgin Road. I’m confident in making the cockpit extension, updated head and panel line updates but I’m not sure how to do the canopy as I don’t have a vacuum form setup. I was hoping someone here would know if there may be another kit out there I can use. Maybe a 1/48 F-14 that would work? Or does anyone know another way to get a 1/48 canopy that would fit on a VF-1D?

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Hello Everyone,

As my priorities shift in life I've decided to part with my Macross TV cel collection that I've had for about 8 years now. I wanted to list them here first for a few weeks and give the MW community first chance at them before listing them on Ebay.

I'm located in Canada so shipping would depend on the location but should be approximately $20.

    1. Milia A: .... $450

    2. Milia B: .... $350

    3. Hikaru: ..... $200, cel is stuck to douga

    4. Misa: ........ $200, cel is stuck to paper

    Thanks!

  9. Hi Everyone,

Beautiful cels as usual, its great to see everyone's collection growing. I'm a relatively new collector, specifically Millia/Miriya cels and in my search for her I occasionally come across other Macross gems. I just thought I would share some links to these Macross cels for sale. Now I have no affiliation with any of these sites, in fact I've never even ordered anything from them, I just came across them and thought I would share the info. :)

I hope they help someone here find a little joy.

  10. Hey Everyone,

I just thought I'd share a personal project I've been working on at home in my spare time. Ever since I was little and first saw the Queadluun Rau (TV series version) I feel in love with that design. Anyhow, I've been working on this and have now been thinking about getting it printed out if it comes out good. Things are just roughed in for now, first I want to settle on the pose and then I would go in and refine the modeling.

I've attached some images of my possible poses. I would be very appreciative of any critics or comments. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
