  1. Almost feel embarrassed to post my work here now, but oh well. Pretty much a straight up, no frills build. Base coat by Mr. Color, wash & weather by Tamiya enamel. Also played around with my new photo-dome studio. Maybe someday I'll upgrade my camera from the 8 year old Fuji digital I'm using now.

  2. Ohhhhh. I like the 1J even better than the 1A. Does the same kit come with decals for both or is it a different product?

I picked mine up yesterday. It comes with decals for Hikaru's, Kakizaki's, and Max's VF-1A from the movie, and VF-1J decals. Looks like it's going to be a fun, easy little kit to make; and yes, I'm probably picking up 2 more to get the complete set.

  3. Hobby Search and HLJ are now showing an availability of around August, but the Wave homepage still says around the end of June. Guess when I go to my local hobby shop this Saturday and reserve I'll know for sure.

  4. All are 1/35 scale Bandai kits. Built Alphonse about 8-9 years ago, finished up Unit 2 and the Special Control Vehicle last month.

Bandai really dropped the ball by not releasing a 1/35 Helldiver. Think of the diorama possibilities!! I know I was......

  5. I was wondering if the scale on these two kits of mine was correct.

Both are 1/72 scale. The Glaug is an old Imai kit, the Valk is Hasegawa. My thought is that the Gluag should be a little bigger. They make a nice companion piece, anyways.

  6. OK, this is starting to bug me. Waaay back, when RT was on the air for the first time, I remember putting together a model of Roy's Valkyrie. I know now that it was just a repackaged Bandai 1/72 VF-1S kit. What's bugging me though, is who repackaged it? Revell? AMT? And does anyone know where I can see a box picture? Google has failed me. Thanks!

  7. Since the world needs more VF-4's, here's my contribution. It's an original Musashiya resin kit. Picked it up on-line though a Hong Kong hobby shop about 8 years ago, sadly can't remember the name of the shop anymore. Went with the desert camouflage scheme from an illustration in "This Is Animation Special:Macross Plus". Kit didn't come with any decals, so I used leftovers from other Macross kits, and a sheet of 1/72 military aircraft decals. Only trouble I has was that however many times I tried, I could never seem to get the canopy cut down to the exact shape for the perfect fit.

  8. If only I were in Japan right now, I'd be having a field day at the Hobby shops!

Keep up posted on your build Jefuemon! B))

Got a few years? I've only got 19 kits to go before I can start this one. Well, if Hasegawa decides to release a weapon set for this one, it won't effect me very much.

Funny thing is, I got a 20% discount on this kit for reserving one for 20 minutes. It was released on February 25th, went into my favorite shop on Sunday looking for it, but they didn't have one yet. Asked me if I wanted to reserve one, said "Of course!". Would have said that even without the discount. Well, when I was filling out the paperwork, they must have gotten a delivery in, because I got a phone call not 20 minutes later saying that it arrived. Still gave me the discount, too!

So, if you're ever in Sapporo, take the Nanboku subway line out to Minami Hiragishi, and stop in at Ohm.

  9. It would be perfect if Hasegawa offers just the decal sheet for the 1/48 VF-1. That way, at least we can apply those to our Yamato 1/48 VF-1 if we want to. B))

They do. It costs ¥1200. Trick is, you have to be living in Japan, and enclose the coupon from the instruction sheet to get it. Though, HLJ could probably get a set for you, if you ask.

  10. I'd just like to say "Thanks!" for the advice. Hotter water than I've used in the past, and a little patience did wonders. Please check out the Gallery section for the finished product.

  11. Thanks guys. I'll give that a try. I have been using warm water, guess I'll crank up the heat a little bit.

Yes, you can order replacement parts for Hasegawa kits, one runner at a time or a replacement decal sheet. The hitch is that it's only in Japan you can do this.

  12. Hey all, having a little bit of a problem here, hope I can get some advice.

I'm working on the Hasegawa 1/72 scale YF-19 now. I bought it when it first came out, only got around to building it now (no, my back-log of kits isn't quite that bad!). Anyways, the water-slide decals are giving me a devil of a time. I'm needing to let them stay in the water for at least two minutes, and they still don't want to come off easily. Is it the age of the decals that causing this? Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions? Or am I better off buying a new sheet from Hasegawa? Thanks!
