  1. Looks like e2046 is coming out with a new recast of the 1/72 VF-4. Whether this is a recast of an original kit, or a recast of a recast, I don't know; however the kits I've bought from them in the past have been good quality (for a recast).

  2. I built an original Mushshiya kit

Built up pretty nice and easy. Only difficulty I had was no matter how many times I tried, I could never cut the canopy to the correct shape for the perfect fit, so instead it's a "good enough for government" fit.

  3. Thanks ;-) Any experience with Yahoo Japan? They have quite a few Macross/Gundam related auctions!

Yes, I've had experience with Yahoo Japan auctions, living in Japan after all. It's real tough to shop if you're not Japanese (or in Japan), though. That's why I recommend Celga.

  4. VF-Naitomeapurasu Variable 171!!!

I'm trying to figure out a way to make the payment...

Contact Celga, I'm sure they'll be glad to help. It's been about 8-10 years since I've used them, but I never had any troubles when I did.

  5. You're right! These kits are a nightmare!! But yours results very well, congratulations!!

Actually, I didn't think it was all that bad. I was working on Bandai's VF-25F before this, but I got so angry at how crappy that kit was I boxed it back up and threw on the shelf in disgust. This kit was pretty refreshing, to be frustrated for a real reason! I only broke my cutter knife once, too.

  6. 1/72 scale VF-17D Nightmare. Soft vinyl/plastic kit from Wave. Primed by Mr. Surfacer, painted by Mr Color, so that shoots the myth I heard many years ago that you can only use acrylic to paint vinyl kits to hell and gone. This came as either an S or a D. I choose D, because I think the head on the S looks just too damn goofy.

Also, if anyone doesn't catch the reference to my thread title, damn I'm getting old!

  7. Thanks for the info and help Jufuemon, there is alot of nice stuff on the yahoo japan link you posted, but, I can't understand a word of it and an online translator really doesn't help.

If you see something interesting on Yahoo Japan Auctions, you can still try and get it through a proxy service. I've used Celga in the past, and liked them. I don't know if they've changed much, but when I used them (about 8-9 years ago) you give them the URL of the auction you're interested in, and the maximum amount you're willing to bid (in yen). Send them a deposit after they say OK, then just sit back and wait. Don't win the auction, they'll either ask if there's another one you'd like to try, or they'll refund you.

  8. I find it really surprising that we haven't seen any blogs or links that show off tons of 1/48 customs. Where's all the fun at?!?! I remember the 1/72's having a ton of modelling groups making custom paint schemes, mode types, etc. but have yet to see any for these newer kits.

    What gives?!

I need to get through about 10 kits before I can start on the 1/48, that's what gives for me.
