  1. I just finished Ergo Proxy. Might as well list the pros and cons:

    Pros:

    -Action bits were decent

-The music sort of grew on me after a while

    -No annoying characters

    -Solid conclusion

    -Some episodes were paced well

    -Good use of philosophy

    -No fan service

    -Great art style

    Cons:

-First ten episodes were slow as well as a few others beyond it

-Eps 15 and 19 were too out of place, not that the episodes were bad, but they were strange

-The conspiracy plot amounted to nothing

-Why did Auto-rave Re-L become an angel? What was she supposed to be exactly?

-So Ergo made a second body of himself to become the bringer of death? Why the unnecessary complexity

    -Raul and Pino were useless

-More of a nitpick, but ep 16 having toilet seat jokes was stupid

I can understand some of the praise this series gets, but I have to admit it is somewhat of a mess and can be hard to follow. Anime I've thought of taking on next include Trinity Blood, Blood +, Black Lagoon, Gasaraki, Great Teacher Onizuka, Infinite Ryvius, Vampire Knight, Penguindrum, and VS Knight Ramune and 40 Fire.

Yeah Ergo Proxy was nice,it did get quite dull in some areas but the design is something that kept me watching.

out of the ones your going for next,I really enjoyed Blood +. Trinity Blood is also good but completely different from the manga, its still enjoyable to watch but missed so much story wise and character wise by diverting from the source so much. GTO is hilarious as for the others i cant say.

Okay, now I'm curious about the Macross reference from the last episode of Kill la Kill.

This scene stuck out for me, in particular:

When Ragyo Kiryuin arrives at Honnouji Academy and gives her presentation before releasing the life fibers on the audience, I was getting a huge Sharon Apple vibe. Even the music at that point had a similar melody to one of the bits during the concert at Macross City.

haha, yeah it was abit. when her image hologramed over the staduim i thought of Sharon :p

  2. On Star Wars The Clone Wars facebook page today...

The barrels on the sides of Pre Vizsla's helmet design is partially inspired by an unused Doug Chiang drawing for a clone trooper helmet made for Episode II, as well as the head cannons found on the Veritech fighter seen in the Robotech/Macross series. It serves to make Vizsla stand out even more as Death Watch leader.

  3. Well next game in the Super Robot Wars franchise (Z3 part 1) was announced about a month ago. For those unfamiliar its a grid based strategy RPG featuring robots from all sorts of famous and not so famous robot genres, Macross, gundam, gaogaigar etc.

The big additions would be Gundam Unicorn and Aquarion EVOL Can't wait to see how they handle the Unicorn plot with the fact that Char is still alive in the games. Also super jacked for some Gurren Laggan finale and gunbuster and curious how Evangelion will play out.

Comes out in April and is for Ps3 and vita. Consider me sold.

looks pretty cool, I like the combat animations.

  4. Thanks man, yeah I think I do miss abit with BF. I do enjoy the mecha battles in it but I dont take to the kids and toy-battling concept of it. Not yet anyways, I do need to watch the other series to get my Gundam War fix and then I will most likely appreciate BF alot more as you said. I'll give 0083 a watch aswell. Good thing is I can marathon all these series and OVA's over weekends and weeknights :)

  5. I am not a troll, must I metamorph into a parrot at this point? Also, why you do this to me, Vep?

I got nothing against you dude, just some of your reasons in disliking a series that are usually highly recommended are pretty trivial. ^_^

I would suggest Gundam 00. The second season was weaker than the first, but overall I enjoyed the series.

I recommend watching the 0079 movie trilogy. It's pretty much where the whole Gundam franchise begins. When you watch this, I think you'll begin to understand why it was such an influential anime.

MS-08th OVA is my recommendation and original series.

People are probably going to disagree with me but G Gundam is by far the best gundam IMO. Second would be Zeta (but you should really watch the original series or the movie compilations to understand the background of that series).

oh my god I love this Gif.

Cheers for the suggestions guys, I'll be sure to check them all out. :D

  6. Half way through Cowboy Bebop. So lets see: it did not get any better, the music, while decent, is not too great, the characters are uninteresting, the villains does not much going for him, and logic is ignored too much (guns do NOT WORK IN SPACE, you exhale not inhale while in a vacuum, rotten lobster does not turn into mutant fungus, you cannot hack advanced security with handheld/junk part computers, and how is Earth's surface "damaged" because it looked perfectly fine in episode 9). I am also starting to see the more "adult" aspects of this series, although it could have still been on prime time television (unlike say Trigun which had very little questionable content). Do western anime fans like this so much because it acknowledged gay people exist? At this point and given when this aired I would not be surprised. At least the art style has effort and Ed is basically Elpeo from ZZ Gundam done right so eh.
