Allegedly, the Russians are working on a new V/STOL fighter. It will be interesting to see if some of the comments applied to, ahem, a certain other attempt at the same thing recently will be applied to it... (assuming the project is real).
As soon as the first prototype is flying, Russia will promise all sorts of technology, show off some fancy maneuvers at an airshow, and proclaim it as the world's most awesome-est fighter. The internet armchair pilots and experts will lap it all up. And do so for the following 10 years even though less than a dozen will be produced during that time.

Ofcourse women watch anime for fanservice. Just look up the word yaoi.

13 minutes ago, sh9000 said:Vifam7 what does it say? I can't read Japanese.
The confusing part is that it says "2体 セットとしてのリリース" . Translation: a release as a 2-fer set.
Does that mean a release of each version at the sametime or 2 Regults in one package? It sounds like 2 Regults in one package but the price seems low for 2 Regults plus missile parts in one package. So, it's more likely it means both versions released at the sametime.

Sorry I misread. it appears to be separate toys. It's a bit confusing as it mentions 2-fer set.

Different markings so 2 separate toys.
Deleted.

Note: The Tamashii page already mentions swappable landing gears and hands. As well as "parts" for the gunpod. There's also mention of swappable "smaller size wings" (most likely these are the battroid mode wings that was also done with the VF-1) .

Did anyone see this?

I saw an airplane overloaded with crap begging for a larger wing.
I saw that airplane too. It was a F-16.

Back to the discussion of the validity of these items...
For those who claim the moral high horse stance, does that mean you do not buy Macross items outside of Japan that are not licensed by HG? Because if you do, you are stealing from HG and theft is theft, stealing is stealing, right?
Just another reason why I don't take legal crutches seriously.
Poor example since HG stole the rights from Big West.

Maybe you should consider getting a personal loan to consolidate your debt and get a fixed monthly payment at a lower rate? A couple of months of belt tightening might be more preferable than letting go of your treasured collectables.

After the failures with MoS and BvS, I went into this movie with low expectations. I saw the movie yesterday and I thought it was quite good. IMHO, Chris Pine's character and performance as Steve Trevor carried the movie. Gal Gadot is OK as Wonder Woman.
Overall, I'd say it's on par or just a step below Captain America First Avenger.
The few nitpicks though. They never really explained how Steve Trevor and the Germans got to Themyscira. Also, it doesn't make much sense for a naval ship to be chasing an aircraft. And, what happened to that ship and its crew? Finally, Steve was flying a Fokker Eindecker - which was obsolete and out of service by 1918.

But for my point of view, it's not about what's fair - it's a matter of integrity, and apparent lack thereof. The folks producing these bootlegged/stolen items aren't doing it to better the conditions of any exploited class of people, they're doing it for a quick profit. In many ways it's way more unscrupulous than the businesses you're willing to hurt or lecture about going with cheap labor or not being innovative enough.
QuoteOnly the bootlegging people do not care about IPs, laws, trade-agreements and stuff.
They only care about stealing money.
Bootleggng operations are often linked to organized crime (Mafias and Triads). I'm not saying Macross KO toys are linked to them but it is something to think about before one starts justifying bootlegs.

Just a little tip on improving the stance of the VF-1. Just snip off the top section of the nose gear and shorten the arm.
Brings the nose down a tad and looks much better. My VF-1J with the little mod

If the choice is between CG Tomcats and real life Super Hornets, I'll take the Super Hornets.

It would be nice to take the Lockheed T-50A, fit it with weapon avionics and a radar (maybe even the F414 engine), and you basically have your light fighter/attack aircraft for the USAF and Air Guard. It would be a spiritual successor to the F-20.
The problem with that idea is that - inevitably there's going to be mission-creep to the airframe. Which means it'll eventually be asked to do everything - just like the F-16 - and the T-50 airframe would be found to be too small.

Currently watching Cyborg 009: Call of Justice on Netflix. I'm a long time fan of the Cyborg 009 franchise, so I had to check it out. This feels like a rehash of some of the themes in the 1979 series as well as Re: Cyborg. Though so far, it's looking better (storywise) than Re: Cyborg.
Don't really like the RWBY-like CGI animation though.

C'mon guys, no one mentioned the VF100 VF-25 toys? Those might be my least favorite toys ever.
They were correctly in 1/100 scale and looked decent enough in fighter mode... so I forgive it to some extent.

Favorites:
1. Doyusha 1/144 YF-19 and YF-21
2. Hi Metal R Destroid Monster
3. Hi Metal R VF-1A, VF-1J Max & Millia, VF-1J w' GBP
Least favorites:
1. Revoltech VF-1 (transforming version) - It was a bad idea from the get go.
2. Yamato GNU-DOU VF-1 battroid figures - Overpriced and quite possibly the floppiest & flimiest feeling toy I ever purchased. It has a nice sculpt though. If the GNU-DOU line came with fighter mode figures, I might have liked these a heck of lot more.
3. Just about everything released by Toynami. Oh wait, these aren't Macross toys...

Going through the TV series right now. Highly enjoyable. Leading men like Cobra would never make the cut in the current anime market though.
After watching so many modern animes with teenage boys, it was refreshing to see a manly man like Cobra be the leading character.
Love the women in Cobra too. All of them sexy bikini clad women. No such thing as lolis in the world of Cobra.

Man, I really hope they didn't give up, it is such a cool little line of stuff! So many possibilities!
I think we'll find out more in about 2 months at the Shizuoka Hobby Show. If there's nothing new at Shizuoka, then the line is likely dead.
I'm inclined to think that Tomytec might put a hiatus on Macross related kits until the showing of the new anime series and return to doing real life aircraft. Two years ago they teased a VF-143 Tomcat and then nothing after they jumped aboard the Macross Modelers project.

If the F-35 had been cancelled, we could have afforded more F-22's or a butt-load of Super Hornets...
Or, just replace all the Block 30 F-16's with Block 60's...
Or even better---replace the F-15E with F-16XL's...
More F-22s? That would've been nice. Unfortunately it's own high cost already had the bean-counters on its 6 even before the difficulties with the F-35.
I approve of replacing the F-15E with F-16XLs. Better yet, navalize the F-16XL and replace the aerodynamically flawed Super Hornets.
-
Unfortunately, when there's less money to go around, things are going to be dropped. Frankly, the services are lucky they're actually going to get the F-35 (at least for now). Had the F-35 been cancelled like some wanted, the situation would be even worse.

So they're not putting english-subs on the 2202 because the rights-holder basically says frakk You, That's Why.
Great.
And Eldred still wants the fans to import BDs?
I read it as the rights-holder saying - "we've got other plans in releasing this title in English".

I haven't seen the Cobra films, but loved the show. I'll have to get them.
I recently finished watching all of the 1980's TV series and the 2008-2010 OAV/TV series. They were all fantastic. Highly recommended.
