And is it me or the Earthdash/Rolling Town is too peaceful for its own good? Sure there is delinquents like Dan around messing stuffs up, but there is no major war and the people just enjoy themselves under the moonlight.

One may guess WHAT IF Gundam instead of Macross was brought to the States by HG.

That eva looks too mechanical and weird......it might not be an eva, but something like the artificial mechanical evas (JET SOMETHING? forgot the name). I'm guessing it plays more of a support role than a combat role. Looks too flimsy.

Actually EVA are cloned Adam, so yeah they should be humanoid since Adam was humanoid.

Oh well, this could mean NERV took some advices from them and made an EVA by strapping some mechanical legs/wheels to a crippled Angel body.

I was there. Saw Kawamori transform his lego VF-25. Didn't queue for his autograph though as the queue was too long & I had to leave half way through his talk to meet my wife & son. Lots of Frontier cosplayers there. Saw Klan, Sheryl, Ranka & many Altos. Satelite had a booth there, so I talked with them for about half an hour. Told them about MW. Asked about a Frontier sequel, but they wouldn't say..

Heh, I guess they won't leak a thing about the movie.

I'd like them to work on a new Macross OVA than a Frontier sequel though.

But they need to finish Basquash! first...and the Frontier movie.

Thing is, I'm not sure there ever WAS a real Char Aznable in the anime (there certainly wasn't in the novelization), and I doubt that Unicorn is basing its story off of The Origin, since that showed Char's body floating in space after his shuttle was destroyed.

In Gundam Evolve? Sure. A brief cameo in MS Igloo? Okay.

But if they put them in a major role in anything, I don't think it would work.

Crossbone has Amuro-in-a-jar.

And Unicorn has THAT Char, playing role as the main antagonist, I know it may not be our Char, but damn.

It's a pretty safe bet that no future Gundam animation will have them in it, so the point is kind of moot.

Considering how desperate Sunrise tries to make newer AU shows to be like UC as much as possible (without being UC, yeah).

I won't be surprised if they later re-introduce Char and Amuro in new UC shows to attract more fans.

(Hopefully no influence on the script as that story is more grim and dark then Tomino on a bad day)

I hate to admit it, the story is going to get grimdark sooner and later.

The new OP pretty much confirms the sad past/traumatic event of all the main characters.

On the plus side, the show will become more serious and "deep".

On the minus side, I fear it will lose its humor and charm.

I will keep watching and telling myself that Hideaki Anno has a change of mind, like "Happy" Tomino nowaday.

Yeah, gundam to me is mainly about Char and Amuro or the Zeon/Earth conflicts and it's factions, without them, gundam is nothing. Sure the show is named after the robot, but its the characters and story that makes it stand out more than the other robot shows that have come and gone. I beleive the old shows have really struck a great balance between robot and character development, while most shows they just concentrate on the robot and its gimmicks.

I wouldn't mind if they made side stories during the oyw to cca era as it would expand the universe further. Although oyw is over done, they still come up with some great stuff like igloo.

To me, this is what drags Gundam down, Gundam is a war of ideals with robots, not just a story involving two rival guys and some big political factions, that's why as much as G Gundam differs from the norm, it's still considered a Gundam, plot-wise.

Character development-wise, I don't think G Gundam/Gundam X/Turn A characters are any lackluster compared to the UC characters, some are even better than existing UC characters. I'm kind glad we never have a Reccoa-like character in those shows.

But the last part is where we differ, I still watch mecha shows for the robots rather than the characters, unless the characters are annoying to the point that I can't stand them piloting said robots.

@Gububa: I'm sick of Amuro and Char due to CCA, the biggest Amuro/Char fanservice movie ever.

But for me, Gundam has always been the story of Amuro and Char. The side stories and post-CCA stuff...well, I'll watch it, and I like a lot of it, butI don't think of it as the "main" story of Gundam.

The alternate universe stuff doesn't really interest me.

This is the complete opposite for me, considering I'm dead-tired with the OYW-CCA stuff (and stuffs involving the two big mans, Amuro and Char), so that point the conflict doesn't hook me up anymore.

F91 breaths new life into UC, too bad the story is super uber rushed, Crossbone is never animated and Victory, while good, is largely ignored by UC fans.

About AU shows, G Gundam, Gundam X and Turn A Gundam all rock, G Gundam is a different take on Gundam by Yasuhiro Imagawa, Gundam X is basicallly UC in the far fetch future, and Turn A is supposed to be the End of Gundam.

I think the "wheels" is what ruins it, not necessarily the quadro-configuration. If they were long stalks instead of wheels (like a real insect), it would have been better and a lot more menacing looking... now it just looks like an armed handicapped EVA.

That seems to the whole point behind it.

Because the Angel body (which is what inside the EVA's armor) is supposed to be humanoid right? Unless I'm missing anything here.
