Also somehow the history remembers me of a Star Trek:Voyager episode, where a Federation ship used the dead bodies of extra-dimensional aliens as fuel for the warp engine. And as a consequence the aliens start attacking the ship (and other federation ships -> Voyager) in swarms.

It might be. It's been a while since the episode 7 battle, so it's possible that the LAI scientists have managed to use Luca's scan data to come up with the new booster. My theory was that they got it off of the VF-27 blueprints that Leon received. But reverse engineering it from Luca's scan data is also a possibility.

There's also the possibility that LAI was in fact developing a purple crystal fold drive before episode 7 battle (Luca recognized the crystal at the Vajra ship as a fold generator), but Luca's scan provided the critical data necessary to complete the prototype.

Clearly in the opening lines, Ogotai and the advisor are talking about the negotiations with Temjim faction.

I'm 99% certain that the WTF-1 is indeed the SDF-1, just look at the bridge section, if you look at the lineart for the SDF-2 (Before being converted to the Megaroad), the bridge section looks really different. If the Spacy did build another Macross class ship, I bet it would have the modern, SDF-2 style bridge and not the older SDF-1 style one.

Also the WTF-1 have first generation ARMD carriers attached to it, while if it's a newer ship it should have the bigger and newer ARMDs as seen attatched to the Megaroad-1

I always thought of this manuver as a "I'll luanch all I have, and hope I hit them and wittle there numbers down" thing. That and it looks pimp when an Itano circus is let loose.

In other words 'spray and pray', if some of you have played IL2 sturmovik online, had probably encounter some noob flying some plane with big guns (or volleys of unguided rockets such as the german R4M) and using this technique, since a single hit would usually destroy the target.
