If the prices were the same the Arcadia would be an obvious choice, it is better, it's just not WAY better while being WAY more expensive.
NVM lol...

The oldest Macross I have is the Chunky Monkey and the little crappy transforming one. I can still crack heads with no issue to the toy as far as Chunkys go. The little one did break at one of the arm sliders but only after years of taking it with me everywhere and transforming it countless amount of times. It should still work to this day (if I could find it) but I just need to hold the arm in place. MP-47...I don't know, I heard and seen issues with that so I have been careful with mine but I've let my kids play with it and I'm looking at it right now with zero breaks or disintegrations. Again, I guess I'm just lucky?
My original Takatoku VF 1S and Joke Machine are as solid as the day I bought them. May the toy gods bless those things and the people that made them.
As for the newer toys, do I have any recourse for my '0S? Does someone make extra hands or do I have to wait for someone that's scrapping theirs or send my '0S to physical rehabilitation?

I've read of some people complaining about them still being a little loose, and not too many enhancements from the original design, but as I was sitting here, comparing the old and new, the new one is much more stiffer than the original, with more locking areas to give it a pretty solid feel. The feet were an issue, but I haven't heard of any of the new ones having the wrong feet in them. I don't know if my problem is just one out there that's random, but I got it from a reputable place (Amiami) and they took care of it.
Ok, so buy an Arcadia version? The Yamato being a froppy mess doesn't surprise me...

I ended up getting one of the newer ones, and while both feet were on the correct sides, the right foot would not come out, to the point where the glue and the fasteners didn't hold, and the two-pronged broke off. Luckily, I was able to submit a claim, and they sent out another right leg. So far, it transforms perfectly now, and the leg is better than "new".
*SIGH* one of the variable fighters I never got around to buying when I stopped collecting years ago was the SV51. I'm looking into them now, but what are the issues other than the legs do I need to look out for?

DHL tracking now says " Forwarded for delivery", I'm guessing it's been handed off to either UPS or USPS for final delivery.
I hate it when that happens. Anytime the big shippers hand it off to USPS, something usually goes wrong...

It seems my DX VF-1S arrived at the delivery facility via DHL at 10:30 this morning. It's still saying the estimated delivery date is Monday the 27th, though I wouldn't think they'd actually hold it there until then.
Anticipation is worse than death itself...

Yeah, I lucked out and one Mandy location had everything in that pic but the Max. That made it a LOT easier.
How much did these guys retail for? I bought all of mine from BBTS but it was so long ago...

Yep, bringing an older thread back to life.
After taking my Yamato & Arcadia VF-0's out of the boxes and enjoying them for a bit, I remembered again that I do NOT like the hands on these toys. Has anyone out ever made or considered making Fixed-Pose hands for these?
I did the same thing the other day with my yamato '0S and the hands literally crumbled into pieces. Have any of you guys ever experienced this? I transformed the thing like, twice the entire time I've owned it and otherwise it sat in a box. I mean WTF man...

I can't remember when I joined and you wouldn't know it from my post count, but there was a lot of 1/55 customizing, I even bought a few resin heads but never finished using them Yamato releasing their very first attempts at yf-19 and vf-11, with lots of metal. Then along came vf-1 version 1
I seem to remember reading something about '55 customization back in the day; that was during the dark, pre-yamato days, if I'm correct...

There are pages and pages of these sort of situations with NY; theres even a dedicated thread about this right? I have to ask why anyone here is giving them any business?

just curious...what's the maximum price you will pay for a set of DX Strike/Super parts now that these are hard to come by
If it has to be, zero dollars. I remember buying about four sets of fast packs for the original '48s and never using them. I'm all about that naked fighter mode...

Is it variable?

Wow. ^^^^That's pretty impressive stuff right there...

Well, in my anxiousness for the new season to show up, I decided to redecorate a corner of my room! Thankfully got my Canon Pro9000 working again and printed off some 11"/17" pics. The two Yamato pics are showing a bit of gradient along the lines, but that's invisible from a few feet away. If I had some larger file I could probably print some perfect ones out but they're more than good enough!
And up in the corner.
And the printer, which I got for a steal off of eBay.
Don't know if I'll do anymore, but that's my Yamato Corner!
Thom
That looks hot man...

The irony in this statement.
Anyway, for the gerwalk, I would say the DX has an edge above the Yamarcadias because the DX can spread its legs wider giving the gerwalk a more aggressive stance. Aesthetically, the DX looks a bit better also in battroid as the head sits more flush to the body compared to the 1/60 where it is elevated a bit. The same can be said about the head in fighter mode where the DX is more hidden. Although, I will give it to the 1/60 with fighter mode as it feels more secure with the parts locking in better. I do like the individual movable head lasers on the DX 1S. Tampos are debatable for me. I prefer the simplicity and accuracy of the PF 1/60 tampos but have gotten accustomed to the DX's where it doesn't really bother me at this point. I do believe the DX has double jointed elbows while the 1/60 doesn't. That's another plus with the DX's battroid articulation.
I feel the DX is better than the 1/60 but in small increments. It's not game changing but still better. I'm not fond of the 1/48 scale for the VF-1 and would preferred if Bandai went with 1/60.
'48 to me is an odd scale for this line, IMO. I too wish they had kept it '60 so I could keep it in line with my other variable fighters. I also like what you said about game changing. When the yamato '48 came out five thousand years ago, it was indeed a game changer. Based on what I've seen, heard and read about the DX, it's great but definitely not a game changer. Add in that fact that I'm a total whore for fighter mode-only displays and the DX's improvements are lost on me...

Hell...I'm going to start arguing for Chunkies, the greatest Valks of all times. And you will lose.
The chunky IS the greatest valk of all time. What other variable fighter toy had the capability of taking your eye out, stock from the box with that murderous, missile firing GU11? Lol.
As for a bandai versus yamato/Arcadia there is no conflict there for me. The higher cost and difficulty to purchase the DX will make it so that outside of Roy, I will not buy anything else. In reality, the only reason why I'm even buying the DX Roy is because I stopped collecting a long time ago and ironically never got a Roy, despite him being my favorite character and color scheme. From what I've seen, the changes on the DX versus the old '48s don't justify the new expense or headache of getting into this line. I do wish everyone else luck and happiness in your collecting endeavors though...

I'm sorry, but while the design of the Top Gun/ Transformers x-over figure looks okay, the paint job looks like Maverick did a barrel roll through dog crap. O.o
I mean, I know it's supposed to be a dog fighter but really...this is taking it a bit far...
Certainly doesn't look like a $50 toy to me...

THIS. The MSRP is irrelevant when you will never, EVER find it at that price...

So from a few pages ago, this got me curious:
Did Isamu and Myung canonically marry or at least get together post-M+? Because my honest assessment of M+ was that... well, besides it kind of being irrelevant, they didn't.
I hope not, Lucy was way more fun and seemed to have had a lot less baggage. I would've hoped that they stayed together but Isamu is a dog...

^This. Although I liked that Yamato design though.
I just looked into that Resurrection film; the dvd cover itself is 100% cringe. Is it really that bad?

The alt mode isn’t all that bad, though they are probably taking pictures from angles that hide a lot of kibble. If the kibble is too bad, a little bit of paint will go a long way to make the alt mode “slightly” more accurate, namely the canopy.
Chris
I was going to preorder this but then noticed they weren't showing any underside shots, in all likelihood to hide the kibble until after you've paid for it. I'll let other people get on this first and see.

Indeed, I went ahead and got that Hikaru DYRL VF-1S, just to have one in hand before Roy comes out, but other than that, the only other one's I'd be interested in is Hikaru TV 1S, VF-1D (Or DYRL Ostrich), and any Low Vis scheme they make, that's my kryptonite, lol.
Lemme know when you get that '1S and what you think, as I'd like to hear the opinion of someone who hasn't been mesmerized by the DX...yet lol.
As for the low viz stuff, i'm so glad I bought that grey low viz '48 way back when as its still one of my favorites. Do you have the grey V2 low viz '1S also?

I would have to disagree with the Bandai being priced better than an Arcadia.
You've got to pay 18k yen for the VF, plus another 13k for the missiles and SSP. Assuming you can find all of the parts for retail price that's still 31k. An Arcadia PF VF-1S with SSP set retailed for just under 28k. It was under 22k for the regular version (if you don't mind doing decals yourself).
Even the standalone release is more expensive - the VF with missiles is going to be around 22k, but Arcadia's two VF-1S releases that didn't include SSP were just under 17k (and included missiles).
I'm not counting the ridiculous secondary market prices for the figures - a $300 VF-1S, $90 missile set and $130 SSP, in three separate boxes, with shipping, will probably set you back double an Arcadia VF-1S set. The DX figure is nice, but I don't see how anyone could think it's worth double an Arcadia.
YEESH. Too rich for my blood...

Thanks for the links. Yeah I remember passing on all of the TV valkyries. Probably should've bought them anyway. Oh well...
