Hey, I associate it how it was presented to me, in Robotech form. I"m in the pit, everyone come in the water is warm! =)
It's odd because I refer to Stig vs Scott and Yellow vs Lance in Mospeada. Odd.
If it wasnt for robotech I never would've discovered DYRL, Plus, Mospeada and everything afterwards. Can you imagine a life without the 1/60 YF-21? Robotech is fine, its HG that needs to go to hell...

My guess is they’ve now sold out. I had been wavering on buying one from them, but I waited too long with all my doubts with NY. I should’ve secured one as an alternate. I really don’t want to miss out on a TV version of Roy. Only one I have is the Bandai 1/55 version from over 15 years ago. (Did Yamato even release a 1/48 TV version? I only have their 1/48 DYRL Roy.) I’m thinking this one is going to be the most in demand out of all the Macross DXs.
You wont miss out. They will be all over ebay after release day. Dont give in to PO hype and panic like some of us did; the sky definitely is not falling...

I'm a solid Kakizaki. All bluster, ego and pomp; virtually no talent and use other than being cannon fodder and existing so that others will look superbly talented...

Talking about RC models
I have an old Clod Buster on my shelf (Post Chevy/Pre 4x4x4 logo-ed grill)
Did some mods to it, like adapting the chassis to hold 3 batteries (1 for each motor/esc) 1 for powering the lights
making rear lights in the chassis, putting beams on the roll bar
Nowadays I'm contemplating on 'improving' the Clod
Basically a 'different' Juggernaut
Clod Shell, wheels and suspension on Bruiser/Hi lift/CR-01 chassis/powertransfer, dual servo steering
You running brushless on that rig? I have my original Kyosho Optima Mid that I bought in 1989 and I'm contemplating brushless, but I'm worried about grenading the original drivetrain...

Uprising was better than Legacy, IMHO. It was well written with a talented voice cast, including Bruce Boxleitner as a rather vengeful Tron and Lance Henrikson doing an excellent turn as the evil Tesler. It was definitely a darker show for Disney, along the lines of early Gargoyles. It lived too short a life.
Legacy was ok, but didn't overwhelm me. I'm not sure where they'd go with the story. What concerns me is that they seem more concerned about getting Daft Punk involved than any of the principle cast members. DP were apropos for the genre, sure, but honestly aren't the make or break element of a Tron film. Not to me, anyway. I didn't even know who they were until after I'd seen the film and everybody was gushing over their appearance. The dude who played Flynn's son (don't even remember the character's name) made little impression on me, obviously. Qorra, OTOH, stood out; Olivia Wilde just has presence. I wouldn't mind a film built around her character. I think it'd be a good way to expand the universe a bit while paying homage to the first two films.
The guy who played sam Flynn is actually Hayden Christensen's twin brother. You can tell they attended the same acting school together as well...

I see a lot of complaints about price and availability, but as far as I'm concerned this is the golden age of Macross toy collecting.
Were any of you guys around here or collecting Macross toys in the late 90's, and early millenium? Now THERE was a time of misery when it came to collecting. First of all, what was there to collect? If you wanted a variable fighter there were two choices: Bandai and Takatoku, both of which were 1/55 scale "chunky monkeys" that are aesthetically hideous when compared to even a V1 Yamato.
I remember scouring ebay for whatever 1/55 valkyrie's that I could. The holy grails back then were the Bandai Strike Valkyrie, Super Ostrich and the 'Seeker. Do any of you guys remember the prices back then, IF you could even find one to bid on? Oh about $1200 or so, and that was just for the Bandai Strikes; I never got into the Ostrich and the 'Seeker because they were even more expensive and harder to find. Hell I remember even missing a mortgage payment because I was so feverish trying to get a Bandai 'Strike that was MIB for about $1300.
So yeah, these PO sessions suck because they're hard to succeed with and you've got unscrupulous sellers like NIN NIN marking things up by almost 100%, but try and remember that even at $500 for a Roy, you're getting a far SUPERIOR toy for a fraction of the cost of a much more simpler toy that cost that much more when there was virtually nothing to buy. If you had shown me a DX 'Roy back in 1999 I would've sold my soul for it. Today, you've got Yamato, Bandai, Arcadia, and even Toynami and the reissue '55s if that's your thing. Ultimately everyone needs to lighten up; if you want these new generation toys you'll get it, and it won't be as hard to do so or nearly as expensive as it was for old-time collectors like me...

I think a lot of people here are forgetting that bandai is taking care of its primary market, which is Japan. They're not conducting these new releases and preorders for the sake of the rest of the planet. If they did, you could be sure that it would go much easier, smoother. Any talk about the brand drying because of westerners not being able to buy their products isn't an issue, because they're not focusing on the world, they're focusing on japan...

Not me, I'm just in this for Roy...

Yeah, at this point I've ended up with both a YF-29 and a VF-1S Roy pre-ordered with Nin-Nin (at MSRP). Hope there's no shenannigans.
When is the release date for the '29?

it's the norm for TWE items.
If they really want to screw us over, they could just package it in the biggest box possible so it will be very expensive to ship it outside of japan.
example: extra white empty boxes from their WOL for strike Freedom and Destiny just so they can keep the shape and have a nice Sleeve photo when you pack that with your already owned MB gundam.
Im Sure they thought of that, if only jokingly, but their bottom line would be affected $$$$$...

That's an incredibly heave Valk you have on that stand. I would worry it might tip over unless you have some kind of counter weight on the base..
Baby Yoda will just levitate the variable fighter to safety; ratchet will treat anyone with injuries.
1 minute ago, Atomski said:Is it just me or is Bandai going WAYYYY out of it's way to say "frakk off if you're outside of Japan! We do not want you to have this!" more than usual this time around?
I've been buying macross stuff since 1998 and that has ALWAYS been how I thought Bandai's attitude has been towards outside buyers...

Gonna sit this one out, Roy's is the only one I want, unless they make a Hikaru TV 1S.
If it wasnt for Roy I probably never would've logged on to MW again for the rest of my life lol...

That guy is still listed here @Guyffon and he hasn't been back here after the pre-order madness.
Don't forget that there was a guy also telling us about the DX Hayo 1a and showing us the pic Hasawaga kit version instead with no proof (and that he mention thjat he had links with Bandai HQ). We kicked him out from here very quickly.
Wait, what did he do?

Well I myself was one of the unfortunate ones who lost out on the PO war for the Roy Fokker VF-1S...but really we all should know the Movie Edition with the more angled head is coming out for sure. Once that releases too, I really have a feeling there be a lot of folks who will start selling off the TV version...
Stupid me didnt even think about the different variants; I'm all about the movie version and i braved the shark infested waters of the TV preorder out of ignorance. Good thing I'm a fighter mode-only sort of collector as I wont have to see the different head too much, lol..

I will say that there are SOME exceptions to the idea of ultimately being able to find a highly desirable item at some point after release, the Nintendo Switch being one of them. How long has that console been for sale? Believe it or not, I have NEVER seen a nintendo switch for sale in a retail store EVER. That thing is years old and continues to fly off of the shelves. The '1S roy? You'll find it, dont worry about it...

That's why I mostly gave up toy collecting. As I get older I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on a piece of inanimate plastic/metal/resin or whatever, no matter what it transforms into or how much clothing you can remove off of the figure, but I WILL make an exception for Roy's 1S and come out of retirement for him, no question...
