I know these are photos we are not used to looking at, but I wanted you guys to critique them. I took these at a wedding last Saturday for a co-worker who was getting married. There was one photo of her where I thought the bokeh was really nice so I thought I would share it and a few others. One of our staff photographers at work looked at the pictures and told me that I was making good use of the rule of thirds and that I had an eye; that made me feel good. Anywho, here are a few shots. Feel free to chime in on the good, bad, and ugly of it all.

Not sure if this is an issue with you guys in other areas of the country, but here in Arkansas pollen is a REAL problem this time of year. I was with my family this past Sunday taking shots of everything and didn't take the pollen into consideration. It wasn't long before I realized pollen was caking up all over my camera and lens and I'm afraid I might have "dust" now. I know this might be a dumb question, but is compressed air okay to use on the lens? I used it to blow the outside of the body and lens to remove all the pollen that had collected. I know for future shots this time of year to use some sort of barrier to keep the pollen at bay...

Any opinion on the Nikon - AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 or AF-S NIKKOR
16-35mm f/4G ED VR
Leaning on getting the first one. Slowly getting the hang of the a few things.. but need more practice.. and finally got a Kata bag .. awesomeness..
I have the 18-200 Kicker and I am loving it. It's my all purpose lens and does very well in natural light on the D90. I thought about getting rid of it, but now that spring is in full swing and I'm getting more outdoors shots with it I have a new appreciation for it.

I have several of this and I think they are pretty nice:
http://www.ibuyxyz.com/items/toys/action-f...0vf1-detail.htm
I have some of these as well. If comparing them to Anasazi's decals on a scale of 1-10 I'd give them a 6.5 Their scale is off somewhat. As far as their application I can't say because I haven't used any of them.

Hi Guys,
I've been part of this forums from way back in the Nineties........
But I stop checking Macross World for about 7 years, now, I just recently reconnected, started by selling my old valks, and just got me a WAVE 1/5000 SDF-1.
and hopefully some of the Macross Frontier valks as well.
BUT, back in the day (2002-2003) I remember some members were selling the decals for the 1/60 yamatos, is there anyone still make them/sell them here in the forums.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Which sets are you looking for? I have several 1/60 waterslide decals. David is right that the newer versions have lots of tampoo printing, but not all the markings are there. The decals help complete the tampooed look of all the markings.

if you're gonna get a 50mm for your nikon get the sigma 50mm HSM.
What's the logic behind your choice here eugimon?
-
sold the lens and just purchased the 50mm F1.4
Thinking about selling my 35mm 1.8 DX to get the Nikon version of this lens. It's on the radar...

Hey I can't remember what was decided for Macrossworld Con 2010. Was it decided that it would move to the the fall of 2010? The reason I ask is because my wife's family reunion is being held in San Diego this summer over the 4th of July weekend. If things coincide for MacrossCon I would definitely be there. No way I'd miss it if I'm going to be in Cali for a minute.

miriya! You da man, MAN! Damn I wish I had the time get into something like this! Creating the dio's look so simple and I would love to expand mine as well. Hopefully if you're able to complete it I'll have some time on my hands by then and I can engage you and Ron for some tips of my own. Looks awesome bro!

Did a quick count.. mostly 1/48 and 1/60
1/60 v1 - only have the vt and ve
1/60 v2 - 0
1/48 = 97 (Holy Sh*t)
1/48 FP = 36
1/60 = 28 Mac Plus
1/60 = 10 Mac Zero
I think I've reach my limit on valk collecting.. well almost.. 3 more to go to hit the big 100. Didn't really count the GBP, revoltechs, ships etc etc. figured just focus on the big ones LOL. I did manage to snag the 55cm Valkyrie model that's probably tops my list since I haven't jumped on the 1/2000 sdf and minmay doll. I think that's it.. Kicker773 will finally retire for a while..
Kicker773 out~
Valk retirement is for suckas!!!

NightmareB4Macross...you are insane man! And I thought I had it bad for the 1/48's??? You're sick man, sick! But I love it!!!

How did you get lucky enough to score both sets of decals??? I can't even find the Paris Act decals. I've got an appointment with Kurt with no decals.
Lucky is an understatement! My mouth hit the floor when the opportunity presented itself and I jumped at it like white on rice!. If you are able to get your hands on set, Kurt will make them well worth your while in searching for them. Trust me on that. Hope you are able to find a set. Have you asked Kurt if he's ever did a custom using Samuel's decals? They might be just as good as Anasazi's.
-
So I'm guessing you don't still have that set you got from xsjado, huh, MacrossMan?
Unfortunately, no. They were used on for this one:
I have since gotten rid of it to cover the cost of a new lens. I lucked up and landed another set though as well as the Moon Act decals. They are already assigned to Valks waiting for customization though.
-
Man I have to say it again...I enjoy the new 1/60's, but I am still a sucka for 1/48's! I still can't get over the beauty of my latest addition!!!

Old school baby!

Canon camera's have a 'bulb' function where the shutter stays open for as long as you keep the button pressed down. I'm sure Nion camera's have the same functionallity, just don't know what it's called.
Not sure what it's called either, but I do know the D90 will do this.
by luck!Well damn! I tell ya, there was blinding lightning coming from the sky last night and it probably wouldn't have taken much luck to capture some nice shots.
I tell ya though Vegas, I remember when you first mentioned selling some Valks in order to pay for some camera stuff and I thought you were crazy man! Can't believe I've done the same thing. Fortunately I haven't had to part with a lot, but I have had to decide to focus on one scale for the time being...1/48!!! My fixation with customs don't help much either, but once they're out of the way I'll focus on completing my 1/60 collection and continue to enjoy this whole photography thing. Can't wait for my class to start!
-
@macrossman, i will be waiting to see some fullframe goodness from you
and i need to start shooting again
Man I wish! I'm still a few months out with the FX body. I get my next piece of glass in about 30 days give or take. I'm registered to take a six week DSLR class that starts on April 20th. I still haven't harnessed the usefulness of the D90 so I am hoping this class will give me a foundation to start capturing some great shots. Who knows, I may stay with the DX body or wait to see what Nikon's move is with their next prosumer FX body before making the jump. I think for now I will continue to cop nice lenses until then. Just ready to get all this stuff figured out so I can start taking some great shots. Spring is just around the corner and we had an amazing lightning storm last night after the tornado passed through.
Is it possible to set the camera up and leave the shutter open to capture stuff like that? I mean can you "set it and forget it" and walk away while having the shutter set to close like every 10 seconds or so? Otherwise, how do photographers capture pictures of lightning?
-
30 days...
-
Can't speak for Samuel decals, but I know some here have used them. I'll say if you are able to secure a set of Anasazi's waterslide decals cop them like your life depended on it! You won't be disappointed. Just wish I could have been around when the getting was good for these. Good luck in your search.
-
Oh yeah I too still have lots of love for the 1/48's.
MacrossMan remember this guy...
Now that one brings back memories. Took Save a while to get it shipped because of all the madness happening at the time with the guy that went on a slashing spree.
Nothing like seeing a recycled 1/48 getting the proper respect it deserves! I just used my last set of side covers that I got as part of the deal on LV1...drat!
Got some plans for my 1/48 VF-1J and armor. Might be a few months out...but it's coming!
-
I like the new 1/60's like most here, but the 1/48's are still no slouch. The 1/48 VF-1D conversion is certainly a hands down winner...especially if done properly.
-
Looks amazing MacrossMan! The ultimate VF-1D, those side covers really make all the difference!!
Thanks! Wish I could afford another one to display in fighter mode. Seeing this in its weathered glory in 1/48 scale pisses on the 1/60th version. I love the new smaller scale, but nothing can ever take the place of me beloved 1/48's!!!
-
That's so not right! You're cheating now! I actually love the new 1/60's and have a few. HLJ's latest sale its making it easy to play catch up while I am still indulged in 1/48!

embrace the future!

I actually happed upon the settings while messing around with the camera at the wedding. Even learned how to give light reflections a little bling. PM for more info if you haven't looked into that yet.
Would you say the focus would have been better if I was able to hold the camera steady? I bet a tripod or monpod would remedy this. I'm still too new at all this so I can't wait until my DSLR class starts on May 20th where I will learn about all this stuff like composition. Really enjoying the hobby and can't wait to get out there again. I appreciate you guys chiming in.
